ScreenVue is the result of a joint venture and partnership between Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC).

ScreenVue first launched in 2003 as a service of CVLI. The CVLI Church Video License provides legal coverage for churches and for other ministry organizations to show DVDs, Blu-rays, movie downloads and streams of motion pictures. Each organization needs to be specifically covered. Coverage includes playing just a few seconds of a movie all the way up to showing the full-length feature.

Each *Total Producer Church Video License* and *Standard CVLI Video License* (or any *Church Video Licence* globally) comes with free ScreenVue Vault access.

The ScreenVue Vault offers 11,000+ Scene Ideas and Downloads from a variety of movies and resources. 

ScreenVue saves you hours of time finding that perfect movie illustration for next Sunday’s sermon, child or youth service, or video announcement! 

All Scene Ideas (using your own copy or rental; via Blu-ray, DVD, streaming or download) include a scene summary, themes and time cues.

### CCLI

Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) was established in 1988 to provide churches with simple, affordable solutions to complex copyright issues. CCLI helps churches maintain their integrity while giving them the freedom to worship expressively and spontaneously.

Churches often face copyright infringement issues in two areas: 1) copying music without permission, and 2) showing movies without authorization.

For copying music to assist with congregational singing, the Church Copyright License provides blanket coverage for 300,000+ songs and 4,500+ publishers and song owners. Currently, global churches are using 600,000+ CCLI licenses.

### CVLI

From a unique partnership between Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC), Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and the Church Video License was formed in 2001.

The Church Video License provides churches with legal coverage to show all, or any portion of, thousands of movie titles from a number of movie producers, including all the major studios. Currently, the titles from almost 3,000 producers are represented by the Church Video License, including the titles that contain all the Scene Ideas and Scene Downloads that are part of the ScreenVue Vault.

__"Where can I find my Access Key to sign-in with?"__
- Every Church Video Licence globally and every *Total Producer Church Video License* (or *Standard CVLI Video License*) in the USA comes with FREE access to the ScreenVue Vault, which is unlocked with your Access Key. Your Access Key will be included in the monthly CVL update emails you receive. __"Why won't my Access Key work?"__
- The usual reason for the Access Key not to work (and a footer error message to appear) is that something is missing from the sign-in protocol.
- Enter the *Email address* associated with your Church Video License (or CCLI account).
- Enter the *Access Key* found in your last CVL update email (exactly, with no spaces).
- Select the *Terms of Use* and a *Keeping in Touch* option.
- You should be in! If you have done all this and still have a problem, please let us know and we'll dig further.

__"In the USA, why don't I have access as a CVL Family Values Package member?"__
- The *CVL Family Values Package* offers only 65+ studios and producers, and does not include any major/minor Hollywood studios - and does not come with ScreenVue Vault access.

__"What are the restrictions for streaming our service and including a movie scene? "__
- For churches that stream their services and want to include any part of a movie (the entire film or just a scene), the Church Video License terms do not cover streaming a movie scene - even if used in a sermon - over the internet to the general public.
- However, it is permissible to live stream a movie scene inside the facility as long as it is a closed-stream (not accessed publicly). 
- In light of COVID-19, the Church Video License has made temporary modifications to the license: For churches that stream their services and want to include any part of a movie, they can use a platform that is gated or private (password protected entry to only members and guests and not open to the general public), such as Zoom (requiring a password to join).

__"Can content in the ScreenVue Vault be used with a Church Video Licence anywhere in the world?"__

Buddy, who knows his family are Protestants: "Was that our side that done all that to them Catholic houses in our street, Daddy?"  Daddy: "There is no 'our side' and 'their side' in our street.  Or there didn't used to be, anyway.  It's all bloody religion.  That's the problem."  Buddy: "Then why are you sending us to church?"  Daddy laughs: "Because your granny'd kill me if I didn't."  Buddy: "But, Daddy, if we were Catholics, we could not go to church, and then every once in a wee while we could go in and confess and then they'd have to tell us we were forgiven and we wouldn't have to go in again for ages."  Daddy: "I've nothing against Catholics, but it's a religion of fear."  Soon, at church, young Buddy stares up at his fire-and-brimstone pastor in terror.  Pastor, yelling so loud that sweat is pouring down his face: "Protestants!  You will die agonizingly!  And where will you go when you shuffle off this pestilential mortal coil?  Where?!  Well, I will tell you where.  Picture the scene...a fork in the road.  In one direction, a straight and narrow highway.  In the other, a long and winding road which stretches down and away into an unknowable distance.  One will take you to the bosom of the Lord's grace, forever and a day caress you with beatific love.  And the other will spew you into an eternal pit of sulphureous suffering, pustulating pain from which you will never, ever, through the seven circles of hell, escape!  And I ask you, here and now, which road will you take?!"  Pastor, abruptly announcing the passing of the offering plate: "Now, money."  


Buddy has just been playing in his street with his friends (see clip #CV11096) when suddenly his eyes are drawn to a mob of angry men making their way towards his house.  In a matter of moments, his peaceful neighborhood explodes into violence as the mob begins throwing Molotov cocktails and stones at the people in the street.  Quickly, parents usher their children inside and Buddy's mother carries him to their door, shielding her head from the rocks with a garbage can lid.  She rushes back out into the melee to find her other son.  All over the mainly Catholic neighborhood, windows are smashed with bricks and men yell: "Catholics out!"  Buddy's mother finds Will and instructs him to hide under the table with Buddy.  She crawls to the window to watch and wait.  


Granny and Pop are sitting at their window, drinking tea and talking about the unrest.  Pop observes that wisdom often comes with suffering: "Your heart has to explode."  Granny: "Mr. Philosopher, and when did your heart ever explode?"  Pop: "That time I saw you in those brown stockings."  Pop and Granny laugh, remembering the time that Granny stained her legs with tobacco water to pretend she had fancy stockings.  Pop, remembering their young love: "When you've gray hair, people think your heart never skipped."  Granny: "Did yours ever skip?"  Pop: "Aye.  It danced a bloody jig every time you walked in the room."  Granny, smiling: "You were full of it then, and you're full of it now."  Pop tells Granny he got a ride to his procedure at the hospital, but Granny insists she is taking him on the bus: "I'm walking you in, and when they're done, you can be bloody sure I'm walking you back out again.  Do you hear me?"  Granny has a hard time keeping the concern out of her voice.  Pop, making a joke as usual: "Yeah, I hear you, missus.  Sure, when did I not?"

It is 1969 in Belfast and Buddy's neighborhood is a tight-knit community.  When Buddy's Ma comes out her front door, all she has to do is call loudly for her son and she knows the message will get to him: "Buddy!"  Down the rows of narrow houses the message travels, where mothers and fathers lean against their doorposts drinking cups of tea and enjoying the sunshine.  Man, yelling: "Buddy!"  Woman at the next house: "Buddy!"  Cousin Frances hears the message and runs into the alley where Buddy and all the neighborhood kids are playing kickball.  She tells Buddy his ma is calling him for his tea.  As Buddy makes his way home, neighbors on all sides greet him: "Hiya, Buddy."  Buddy, waving his makeshift sword: "Hello, Mrs. Ford."  Mrs. Ford: "Have you been fighting many dragons?"  Buddy: "Only a couple."  Mr. West: "I got a couple in my house.  And can you lend us a shield, Buddy?"  Mrs. Kavanaugh: "Buddy, your Ma's calling you for your tea."  Mr. Kavanaugh: "She says it's tripe and onions."  Buddy takes this in the joking spirit it is intended and everyone laughs.  The friendly, family-oriented neighborhood is an idyllic backdrop to Buddy's childhood.

Young Buddy has a crush on a little girl in his class at school.  Timidly, he smiles at her.  Later, he discusses his heartache with his grandfather, lamenting that they don't have the opportunity to talk more.  Buddy, hanging his head: "Anyways, I think she loves that other fella."  Pop: "You don't know that for sure.  Women are very mysterious."  Granny, who is listening from the window, calls out to her husband: "And women can smash your face in, too."  Pop, leaning to whisper to Buddy: "Your granny's become less mysterious over the years."  Buddy, earnestly returning to their first subject: "When I grow up, I want to marry her."  Buddy tells his grandfather that he passes her house everyday, but she is too busy doing her homework to notice.  Buddy, regretfully: "If she were a wee bit more stupid, like me, we'd be sitting together by now."  Granny calls Buddy in to the house and Pop yells back to him: "Try and find out how that wee girl thinks!"  Granny: "Oh, good luck with that one, son."

Buddy tells his grandfather that his father has been offered a home in England: "It's got a garden and everything, and two toilets, and they're both inside the house!"  Pop: "There's nothing wrong with an outside toilet…except on an aeroplane."  Buddy: "My ma says if we went across the water, they wouldn't understand the way we talk."  Pop: "That shouldn't be a problem, son.  I've been married to your granny for 50 years.  I've never understood a word she's said.  And, if they can't understand ya, then they're not listening, and that's their problem."  Pop tells Buddy that when he used to work in England, people would give him a hard time about his accent.  His response was to treat it like a joke and arrive at work everyday with a different accent.  Pop: "They never knew who I was.  But I did, and that's the only one who needs to know.  You know who you are, don't you?  You're Buddy, from Belfast 15, where everybody knows you.  And your pop looks out for you, and your mommy looks out for you, and your daddy looks out for you, your granny looks out for you.  Your brother looks out for you, and the whole family looks out for you.  And, wherever you go and whatever you become, that'll always be the truth.  And that thought will keep you safe."  


While the boys sleep off their Christmas chocolate coma, Pa and Ma talk in whispers about the possible move to England.  Ma is reluctant, not wanting to leave her home and family in Belfast, but Pa worries that the civil war will take the lives of their children.  They decide to put off the decision until Easter and Pa turns to take out the trash.  He stops and turns back to his wife: "You know, whatever happens, what you've done with these two...it's phenomenal."  Ma: "What are you talking about?"  Pa, knowing he has spent a large part of their childhood away in England at work: "You raised them.  Not me.  Not us.  You."  Pa, sincerely: "Thank you."  


Cousin Frances drags a reluctant Buddy along with the rioters looting the neighborhood grocery store.  Young Buddy looks terrified as the angry townspeople trash the store and steal everything in sight.  He looks at the older Frances, who also looks scared, although she would never admit it.  Frances, to Buddy: "Get yourself something!"  Buddy: "What?"  Frances: "Whatever you need!"  Buddy looks around in some desperation, wishing he were anywhere but here.  He spies something he knows his mother needs: "Washing powder!"  Buddy runs home and knocks on his front door to get his mother's attention.  Mom leans out the window of the upper story.  Buddy, excitedly: "We're looting the supermarket!"  Mom, horrified: "You're what!"  Buddy's eyes widen as he realizes his mother is far from grateful for the gift.  Mom: "You wait right there, young man!"  Mom opens the front door and sees Buddy holding the box: "Why did you take that washing powder?"  Buddy, tremulously: "It's biological."  Mom angrily drags Buddy back to the supermarket, where the rioters are still looting.  Hands grasping the collars of both Buddy and Frances, she drags them back to the shelves: "Now, you put that back, do you hear me?  And if you ever, ever do anything like that again, I will kill you!  Do you hear me?"  She turns to Frances, breathing similar threats.  Both children fearfully promise never to steal again.  (Caution: muffled h-word)
