ScreenVue is the result of a joint venture and partnership between Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC).

ScreenVue first launched in 2003 as a service of CVLI. The CVLI Church Video License provides legal coverage for churches and for other ministry organizations to show DVDs, Blu-rays, movie downloads and streams of motion pictures. Each organization needs to be specifically covered. Coverage includes playing just a few seconds of a movie all the way up to showing the full-length feature.

Each CVLI membership comes with ScreenVue Vault access.

The ScreenVue Vault offers 10,000+ Scene Ideas and 500+ Scene Downloads from a variety of movies and resources. 

ScreenVue saves you hours of time finding that perfect movie illustration for next Sunday’s sermon, child or youth service, or video announcement! 

All Scene Ideas (using your own copy or rental; via Blu-ray, DVD, streaming or download) include a scene summary, themes and time cues.

### CCLI

Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) was established in 1988 to provide churches with simple, affordable solutions to complex copyright issues. CCLI helps churches maintain their integrity while giving them the freedom to worship expressively and spontaneously.

Churches often face copyright infringement issues in two areas: 1) copying music without permission, and 2) showing movies without authorization.

For copying music to assist with congregational singing, the Church Copyright License provides blanket coverage for over 300,000 songs and over 4,500 publishers and song owners. Currently, over 200,000 churches globally are Church Copyright License holders.

### CVLI

From a unique partnership between Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC), Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and the Church Video License was formed in 2001.

The Church Video License provides churches with legal coverage to show all, or any portion of, thousands of movie titles from a number of movie producers, including all the major studios. Currently, the titles from over 1,000 producers are represented by the Church Video License, including the titles that contain all the Scene Ideas and Scene Downloads that are part of the ScreenVue Vault.

__"What are the restrictions for streaming a movie scene in my service?"__
- For churches that stream their services and want to include any part of a movie (the entire film or just a scene), the Church Video License terms do not cover streaming a movie scene - even if used in a sermon - over the internet to the general public. However, it is permissible to live stream a movie scene inside the facility as long as it is a closed-stream (not accessed publicly).

The Wizard has called Thaddeus to his chambers to test him as a potential successor.  The Wizard explains that his job is to protect the realms from the Seven Deadly Sins.  The Sins, represented by gargoyle-like statues, are lined up against one wall.  Wizard: "I grow weak.  That is why I seek a champion to inherit my magic.  But, first, you must demonstrate that you're pure of heart and strong in spirit."  The sound of whispering grows louder, originating from the Sins.  The statues begin to speak to the mind of the boy.  "He lies."  "Don't be his champion."  "We can give you power."  The Sins urge the boy to reach out and take the Eye of Power for himself.  Thaddeus turns to look at the glowing orb.  Then, seeing it is bright and attractive, he slowly walks toward it.  All the while, the Sins are whispering in his ear.  Finally, Thaddeus reaches out a hand to take the Eye.  Just before he can grasp it, however, the Wizard shoots him in the hand with sparks from his staff.  Thaddeus, as if woken from a dream, steps back, holding his hand: "What happened?"  Wizard: "Only the purest of hearts can resist their temptations.  But you, you will never be worthy."  


Tim finds a birthday card, left for him by his deceased father.  Reading his father's promise to always provide him with a home sparks a memory in Tim's mind.  He sees himself as a child, waiting at the train station for the train that will take him to his new home with his dad.  Tim refuses to get on the train, telling his grandmother that his home is with her.  Saddened, Tim enters another room of the apartment.  He sees a poster on the wall that brings back another memory.  Tim, a young boy, is crying because his mom won't be at his tournament.  Instead, she is ill and at the doctor.  Tim sees another memory.  This time, he watches as his father and grandmother cry over the death of his mother.


Freddy and Billy are in a convenience store when two armed men enter to rob it.  Billy (in his superhero form) approaches the masked thugs and takes one of their weapons.  The other thug immediately fires his gun at Billy's chest.  Billy watches in awe as the bullet, now crumpled, falls harmlessly to the floor after bouncing off his chest.  Freddy, amazed: "You have bullet immunity!"  Pulling out his cell phone, Freddy starts to film the scene, asking the thugs to shoot Billy again.  Billy, excited to discover his power, eagerly hands the confused criminal back his weapon.  After only a moment's hesitation, the two fire another ten rounds at Billy's chest.  A pile of crumpled bullets now rests at his feet.  Freddy, calling a cease-fire: "Wait!  We still don't know if your suit's bulletproof, or if you are."  He turns to the thieves: "Shoot him in the face."  Billy, his excitement gone: "In the face!"  The men comply, but the bullets just bounce off Billy's skin.  Billy, smiling: "It kinda tickles."

After Billy is chosen by a wizard and turns into Shazam, he sneaks back into his group foster home, along with foster-brother, Freddy. They stumble into the youngest girl’s room, Darla, who happens to be there. The boys discover that by saying ‘Shazam!,’ Billy can transform back to his original body. Is Darla good at keeping secrets? “Moderate,” she confesses. (PG-rated)

Philip and Lily, who have been corresponding by letter, are meeting in person for the first time.  Seated in a nice restaurant, Lily quietly cuts Philip's meat for him.  Philip: "So, is this what you expected?"  (He is referring to his quadriplegia.)  Lily, hemming and hawing, finally admits that dealing with his disability is harder than she had expected.  While she talks, Philip's face falls.  Awkwardly, she clears her throat and lifts a bite of meat toward his mouth.  Philip politely refuses it, obviously hurt.  Feigning exhaustion, he asks Lily to call his caregiver to take him home.  Lily tries to talk him into staying, but Philip is too hurt and humiliated.  Lily: "I shouldn't have been so honest."  Philip, sadly: "No, I'm glad that you were."  However, when Lily begins the "I'd just like to be friends speech," Philip feels he can't stay another second.  Abruptly, he backs up his wheelchair, running into a woman seated behind him.  Apologizing briefly, he turns the chair and starts moving away from the table.  He runs into a waiter carrying a pot of coffee.  The entire pot spills in Philip's lap.  Suddenly, he finds himself surrounded by people trying to be helpful when all he wants to do is escape.  Philip, his jaw trembling: "Please, don't.  I can't feel anything.  I don't feel anything."


Zach is in the hospital for knee surgery and Nanny and Dave are waiting out in the hall.  When Nanny asks Dave if his father knows about Zach, Dave admits they don't have much contact.  Dave: "He's never really even tried to apologize."  (Dave and Zach's father left them, turning to alcohol after their mother died.)  Nanny tries to get Dave to see that grief made Michael a broken man.  "I'm not saying his behavior is excusable, but it is forgivable.  You'd be surprised how things can start to change when you forgive someone."


Dell enters the shower in Philip's luxury apartment.  The enormous glass box is almost the size of a small bedroom.  Stainless steel buttons and nozzles line the walls, but Dell can't figure out how to turn the water on.  Spotting a computer screen, Dell touches one of the buttons displayed on it.  A pleasant feminine voice asks a question in German.  Looking around blankly, Dell responds, simply: "Yeah."  The light in the glass cube changes from blue to white, but no water comes forth.  Dell randomly chooses another button (a little cloud with lightning bolts, labeled "monsun").  The German voice returns, asking another unintelligible question.  Dell, uncertainly, answers: "Yeah."  Suddenly, powerful jets of water shoot from all sides at Dell, who feels uncomfortably like he's in a car wash.  He flings an arm at the computer screen and manages to turn off the deluge.  But the break in the storm is only temporary -- his efforts merely changed the direction of the water.  A powerful jet from above strikes Dell, who begins to cry for outside help.


Dave is in the hospital after a serious seizure and Zach is devastated.  He leaves the hospital room to find Nanny waiting for him in the hallway.  Zach, sarcastically: "It's all a part of His plan, right?  That's what you would say?"  Nanny, unfazed: "I can't tell you that I know what His plan is, but I do know that all things work for good."  Zach, after seeing so much tragedy in his young life, can't see where the good could possibly be.  Nanny, looking into his eyes: "When I was 21, the doctors found tumors on both my ovaries.  When I found out I couldn't have kids, I cried for a year straight.  Every day."  When Zach's mother made Nanny godmother to her children, Nanny took on a big role in the twins' lives.  And, when Zach's grandmother and mother both died young, Nanny became a surrogate parent.  "I've watched you boys grow up to be men.  Seen more of your lives than your grandma and your mama ever could.  And I don't know why that is.  But I'm eternally grateful.  You see, I was that girl at 21 who thought that God had forgotten about her.  But now, the woman at 65 sees what God's plan was all along."  Zach has tears in his eyes.  Nanny, continuing: "Now, I know life can be confusing.  It's full of ups and downs.  It doesn't mean God isn't real or that He doesn't love you.  Because God does love you.  He loves you like crazy."


A fresh snowfall has closed school for the day and Charlie Brown is ready to celebrate with his kite.  As the boy heads to the park to try (yet again) to fly it, the other children mock him: "A kite?  Today?  In the middle of winter?  Only Charlie Brown."  Charlie is certain that, with the "Kite-Eating Tree" asleep for the winter, today is the day marked for success.  He begins running, pulling the kite along behind him.  At first, it does seem as if he will succeed and the kite is soaring high in the sky.  However, when he slips on the snow and becomes tangled in the string, Charlie lands at Linus's feet and the kite hits him in the head.  Linus, encouraging his friend: "Still no luck, huh?  Remember, it's the courage to continue that counts!"  A stiff breeze pulls Charlie and the kite across the pond, wreaking havoc among the ice skaters.  Charlie's journey ends with his string wrapped around a tree and the kite caught in its snowy branches.  Charlie, grimacing: "Stupid Kite-Eating Tree!"  Suddenly, the snow falls from the branches, revealing more than a dozen kites tangled in its grasp.  Lucy approaches, angry that Charlie's kite fiasco ruined her performance: "You blockhead!  Don't you ever know when to give up?  You will never get that kite to fly."  As she stalks away, her brother, Linus, comforts his friend: "Listen, Charlie Brown.  Ignoring what my sister Lucy says has enabled me to make it this far in life."  Charlie, comforted: "What would I do without a good friend like you?"

All the kids in the neighborhood are excited to see a moving van pull into an empty home.  They gather at the fence to peer at the possessions being unloaded.  Each child hopes the new kid will share their interest, but Charlie's hopes are simpler: "I just hope this new kid has never heard of me."  Charlie, remembering all his faults and foibles: "He would know nothing of my past imperfections.  It's not often you get the opportunity to start over with a clean slate."  Charlie smiles broadly, full of hope in his new identity: "This time, things will be different!"  Suddenly, Charlie slips, crashing into the fence.  Like a train of dominoes, every board falls to the ground.  All the kids point immediately at Charlie: "He did it!"  Humiliated, Charlie runs away.

While Charlie prepares for bed, he pours out his heart to his dog, Snoopy.  Charlie: "Sometimes I wonder if the kids really like me.  Maybe that new kid will see me for who I really am, like you.  A dog doesn't try to give advice, or judge you.  They just love you for who you are.  It's nice to have someone that will just sit and listen to you."  Hearing a loud snore, Charlie turns, seeing that Snoopy has fallen asleep.  Sighing, he sags into his pillow: "Man's best friend."

Charlie Brown is sitting in the nurse's office, waiting to be seen.  A bemused smile is on his face and little, red hearts float above his head.  The little kid in the neighboring chair asks Charlie why he's been seen.  Charlie, passionately: "Have you ever had that feeling when you can't stop smiling?  Your heart pounds inside your chest?  You try to stand, but your knees become weak!  And, then, that Little Red-Haired Girl glances at you and all of life's possibilities become so clear!"  Suddenly, Charlie, who had been floating in a dream of love, drops to the ground: "And then you realize...she has no idea you're alive."  The nurse asks Charlie the reason for his visit.  Charlie, sighing: "Because I just came down with a serious case of inadequacy."

Charlie Brown, seeking advice, has come to Lucy's booth.  He sits down, explaining that he needs to know how to impress a girl: "But she's something, and I'm nothing.  If I were something and she was nothing, I could talk to her.  Or, if she was nothing and I was nothing, I could talk to her.  But she's something and I'm nothing, so I just can't talk to her."  Lucy holds up a mirror, showing Charlie a reflection of himself: "This is the face of failure.  A classic failure face.  Do you think girls like failures, Charlie Brown?  Girls want someone with proven success."  Lucy pulls out a notebook and pencil, intending to list Charlie's achievements.  Lucy: "Have you won any awards?  Like a Congressional Medal of Honor?  Or a Nobel Peace Prize?  What are your real estate holdings?  Do you have a diversified portfolio?"  Each time he responds in the negative, Charlie sinks lower and lower in his chair.  Lucy, slapping down her blank notebook: "Let me let you in on a little secret, Charlie Brown.  If you really want to impress girls, you need to show them you're a winner."  She hands Charlie a book entitled, "10 Ways to Become a Winner."

It is the day of the talent show and Charlie Brown is waiting in the wings to perform his magic act.  Onstage, his little sister, Sally, is failing miserably.  The audience is bored by her attempts to rope a cardboard box, and the stage manager is about to bring down the curtain on her act.  Charlie looks at his sister's tearful face and his eyes fill with compassion.  The audience begins to laugh at Sally and Franklin shakes his head: "Sorry, Charlie Brown.  This has gone on long enough.  Drop the curtain!"  Charlie, concerned for his sister's feelings: "Don't do that!  She said she has a big finish!"  Franklin: "Well, it's either your act or hers.  We can't hold forever."  Charlie looks at his sister's tearful face.  He looks out at the audience, where the Little Red-Haired girl sits.  (He had hoped to impress her with his magic act).  Charlie makes a decision.  Moving quickly, he dresses up as a bull and goes out on stage, telling Sally to rope him.  Sally, thrilled, mounts Snoopy and begins an exciting chase around the theater.  The audience adores her act, throwing roses onstage at the finale.  Sally, beaming, whispers to Charlie: "Thanks, Big Brother."  Charlie smiles.

When an announcement is made to the entire school that Charlie Brown achieved a perfect score on the standardized test, his success makes him an instant celebrity.  Suddenly, everyone at school is following him around, copying his every move, and asking him for advice.  The same people that once ignored him are now clamoring for his attention.  Even Charlie's "failures" are seen as successes, just because they are his.  (A failed art project is labelled "contemporary" by admiring classmates.)  Wherever Charlie goes, crowds gather.  Soon, nearly everyone is wearing the classic yellow shirt with zig-zag stripe.  Sally, Charlie's sister, begins giving guided tours of their home.  Excited crowds demand autographs.  And, Charlie begins employing Snoopy as bodyguard and bouncer to keep the mob from overwhelming him.

A special school assembly is being held in Charlie Brown's honor in order to reward him for earning a perfect score on the recent achievement test.  With his entire school applauding from the stands, Charlie is called up on stage to receive a medal.  Honored, Charlie smiles out at the adoring audience.  Many hold balloons in the shape of Charlie's face, others wear Charlie Brown shirts, and Charlie's sister, Sally, waves proudly.  A further honor is bestowed when Marcie announces that, from this day forward, this date will be known as "Charlie Brown Day."  Charlie, with a gold star pinned to his shirt, smiles at the cheering crowd.  Cameras flash and Franklin pats Charlie on the back: "You're the star of the school now!"  Marcie hands Charlie his award-winning test.  Charlie looks down at the paper and realizes, with horror, that it isn't his test after all.  (He had accidentally switched tests with Peppermint Patty.)  Charlie looks back at the crowd, seeing the faces of his friends, his sister, and Peppermint Patty.  He looks back down at the test, making a decision.  Clearing his throat, he steps up to the microphone: "You have all been so kind.  It's not often that I get this sort of recognition.  But...um...there's been a mistake."  Immediately, the audience is silent.  Charlie, holding up the paper: "This is not my test."  He unpins the medal from his shirt, his head hanging: "Therefore, I cannot accept this honor."  Sally leans close to her seatmate, whispering: "Can a brother and sister get a divorce?"  Charlie hands the test to Marcie: "I think this belongs to Peppermint Patty.  She's the real genius."  Head hanging and shoulders sagging, Charlie leaves the building.

When Charlie learns that the Little Red-Haired Girl is on her way to summer camp, he begins running toward the school.  Desperate to speak with her before she leaves, Charlie tries to take a short-cut through an amusement park.  Unfortunately, everywhere he goes, he encounters obstacles.  After being struck by balls, sprayed with water, and bounced in a bouncy-house, Charlie finally thinks he has been given a break when he spots a train headed toward the school.  However, after buying a ticket and seating himself inside, he discovers that the ride is for babies and moves at a snail's pace.  Grimacing in frustration, Charlie hops out and again begins running toward the school.  He hops through a tunnel, not realizing it spins, and lands inside a room full of mirrors.  Dizzy and disoriented, Charlie finally arrives within sight of the school bus.  The LRHG is about to climb onboard.  Just as Charlie is about to run through the gate leading to the school, an ice cream truck pulls up and a crowd of kids swarms around it, blocking the only path to his goal.  His task now seems impossible.  Hopeless and overwhelmed, Charlie sighs: "The whole world seems to be conspiring against me!"  Folding his hands, Charlie looks up toward heaven: "I'm just asking for a little help, for once in my life."  Suddenly, a kite falls out of the tree next to him.  Angry, Charlie kicks it.  The string wraps around his body and begins carrying him toward the school.  The kite lifts Charlie up and over the crowd of kids.  Charlie smiles.  It continues pulling him, with Charlie running to keep up.  For the first time in his life, Charlie is flying a kite and a crowd gathers to watch the astounding event.  The kite pulls Charlie all the way to the school parking lot.  Charlie trips over the curb and drops the kite string.  The kite floats toward the bus and drifts to the ground, poking the LRHG in the foot just as she is about to step onto the bus.  She stops climbing the steps and turns around, seeing Charlie.  She smiles: "Oh, hi, Charlie Brown."

Charlie, having raced to catch the Little Red-Haired Girl before she left for camp, approaches her with the question that has been weighing on his mind: "Why, out of all the kids in our class, would you want to be partners with me?"  LRHG, smiling: "That's easy.  Because I've seen the type of person you are."  Charlie, confused: "An insecure, wishy-washy failure?"  LRHG: "That's not who you are at all.  I liked the compassion you showed for your sister at the talent show.  The honesty you had at the assembly.  And at the dance, you were brave, and funny.  And what you did for me...doing the book report while I was away, was so sweet of you.  So when I look at you, I don't see a failure at all.  You have all the qualities that I admire."  A huge smile spreads across Charlie's face.

God (in the form of a woman called Papa) tells Mack she knows he is suffering and wants a relationship with him.  Mack: "You're the Almighty God, right?  You know everything.  You're everywhere, all at once.  You have limitless power.  Yet, somehow, you let my little girl die.  When she needed you most.  You abandoned her."  Papa: "I never left her."  Mack: "If you are who you say you are, where were you when I needed you?"  Papa: "Son, when all you see is your pain, you lose sight of me."  Mack: "Stop talking in riddles.  How can you say that you will help me when you couldn't help her?  Because of you, she's gone."  Papa: "The Truth sets everyone free.  And the Truth has a name."  Mack: "Truth?  I know that story.  You left Him, too.  Seems like you have a bad habit of turning your back on those you supposedly love."  Papa: "I'm not who you think I am."  Mack: "He said it Himself: 'My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?'"  Papa, tears in her eyes: "You misunderstand the mystery."  She holds out her wrists for Mack to see the nail scars: "Don't ever think that what my Son chose to do didn't cost us both dearly.  Love always leaves a mark.  We were there together.  I never left Him.  I never left you.  I never left Missy."

Mack hears the pastor's altar call and comes forward to confess.  Mack's father, an elder in the church and a secret alcoholic, abuses Mack and his mother, and Mack feels a terrible responsibility.  He kneels, crying, confessing his helplessness to an elder.  The elder looks in horror at Mack's father sitting in his pew.  Later, in the pouring rain, Mack's father drags him to the woodpile to punish him for his "disobedience."  Father, furious: "Why do you make me do this, boy?  Why do you embarrass me in front of my people?"  Pushing Mack up against a log, the father begins to beat his son's back with a belt.  Screaming, he orders Mack to recite a Scripture passage: "Say it!"  Mack, crying out in pain: "Obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord."  Father, striking Mack harder: "Louder!"  Mack, calling out through his tears: "Colossians 3:20, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord!"  Mack's father continues to beat him while his mother watches, anguished, from a window in the house.

Mack has brought his children to see Multnomah Falls.  As the four stare at the majestic waterfall, Mack tells them a fable about its origins.  According to the tale, an Indian village became ill with a mysterious disease that ravaged the entire countryside.  When the elders met to devise a plan, the chief told of a prophecy: "The illness could only be stopped if the daughter of a chief gave up her life for her people."  This chief had a daughter, his only child, but he and the other elders were unwilling to ask for such a sacrifice.  When the princess heard the prophecy, however, she decided to give up her own life for her people.  Because her love for them was so great, she climbed to the top of the cliff and jumped over.  "The next morning, a great healing came over the tribe."  The chief wept, grieved over his daughter's sacrifice, asking that her act be remembered forever.  "The Great Spirit was so moved by his tears that he answered his prayers."  Mack points to the waterfall: "Water began to fall.  Right there."

Kate and Josh are on a canoe in the lake when Kate stands, balancing on the wobbly craft.  She calls out to her father to watch her antics, but isn't able to keep her balance.  The canoe tips over, throwing both youths into the water.  Mack comes running when Kate begins to scream that Josh is trapped under the canoe.  Mack sprints down the dock, diving into the water.  When he swims to the canoe, he finds that Josh has been pinned underneath by the strap of his life vest.  He sets him free and drags him ashore.  Josh is unconscious and not breathing.  Panicked, Mack begins to perform CPR.  After several tense moments, he succeeds in reviving his son.

Mack is driving, his thoughts far away on memories of home and family.  His eyes wander from the road, drifting along with his mind.  He breezes past a stop sign and is suddenly jerked into the present by the blare of a loud horn.  He yanks the steering wheel to the side just in time to narrowly avoid being struck by a semi-truck.  His vehicle spins around and around before finally coming to a stop.  Mack, safe but shaken, pants as he watches the truck drive away.

Mack enters the shack, which has been transformed into a lovely country cottage.  He is greeted warmly by a middle-aged black woman: "Mackenzie Allen Phillips!"  After the woman releases him from a big hug, Mack stares at her in confusion: "Do I know you?"  Woman, smiling: "Not very well.  But we can work on that."  Mack looks around the room, seeing two additional people...a young Asian woman and an Arabic man.  The woman introduces herself as Elousia: "I have a lot of names, but that's one of my favorites."  Mack looks at her, realization dawning on his face: "Are you saying that you're..."  Elousia: "I am."  Mack, continuing: "The 'I AM?'"  Elousia: "I am that I am."  She and the other two laugh: "Look at that, already quotin' Scripture."  Elousia then introduces her son, Jesus, who steps forward to shake Mack's hand.  The Asian woman introduces herself as Sarayu.  Jesus, explaining: "Sarayu.  It means, 'a breath of wind.'"  Mack, squinting in confusion, looks around at the three: "So, which one of you is...?"  All three, together: "I am."  Elousia, smiling: "And you have no idea how much I love you."  Mack blinks.

God (in the form of a woman called Papa) is serving breakfast to Mack on the patio.  Mack, taking a sip of the coffee she poured him: "Is there anyone you're not especially fond of?"  Papa, smiling: "Nope.  Never been able to find any.  Guess that's just the way I am."  Mack: "Don't you get mad at 'em?"  Papa: "Well, sure.  But what parent doesn't?"  Mack, allowing a little bitterness to seep into his tone: "And that's where your whole wrath thing comes in, doesn't it?"  Papa: "My what?"  Mack: "Your wrath."  Papa, looking blank: "You lost me there."  Mack: "Come on.  Everybody knows you punish the people who disappoint you."  Papa shakes her head: "Nope.  I don't need to punish people.  Sin is its own punishment."

Mack is helping Sarayu dig in the garden.  Mack reaches for an exposed root, but is stopped by Sarayu: "Careful.  That one's deadly."  Mack understandably wonders why she would plant a poisonous plant in her garden.  Sarayu: "You're presuming that poison is bad?"  Mack: "Uh-huh."  Sarayu plucks the root and holds it next to a flower from a different plant: "On its own, the sap from this twig would kill you.  But, combine it with the nectar from this flower, and, suddenly, it contains incredible healing properties."  Sarayu, resuming her digging: "Let me ask you, how confident are you in your ability to discern good from evil?"  Mack: "Usually pretty obvious."  Sarayu: "And your basis for something being good is what?"  Mack: "Well, if it helps me or the people that I love."  Sarayu: "And evil?"  Mack: "If it's harmful.  If it hurts someone that I care about."  Sarayu: "So, pretty much, you are the judge?"  Mack, continuing to work: "Yeah, I guess."  Sarayu: "You ever been wrong?  Or changed your opinion over time?"  Mack: "Sure."  Sarayu: "And there are billions like you...each determining what you think is good and evil.  And when your good clashes with your neighbor's evil, arguments ensue.  Wars break out.  Because all insist on playing God.  You weren't meant to do any of that."

Mack is sitting in a rowboat in the middle of a lake.  Suddenly, his quiet reflection is broken by the sound of his terrified daughter's voice.  He looks around, seeing nothing.  The boat jerks as something underneath strikes it, hard, again and again.  Mack looks down into the water and sees his son under the surface, struggling to come up for air.  He reaches into the water to save him, but the vision disappears.  Mack pulls back his hand, which is now coated in a black sludge.  The inky slime begins to spread outward from the boat, leaking inside and polluting the clean lake.  The boat begins to break apart underneath Mack, who is now gasping in fright.  In the midst of his terror, Mack hears the voice of Jesus: "Mack!  Mack, it's okay."  Mack: "Why are You doing this to me?"  Jesus: "This isn't Me."  Mack: "You told me to come out here!"  Jesus: "Mack, this is happening inside you.  You're letting it consume you and you don't have to."  Mack continues to see painful images from his past - - himself giving CPR to his drowning son and his murdered daughter's coffin.  He looks at the water now rapidly filling the boat and is horrified.  Jesus, pointing to Himself: "Don't look at it, Mack!  Look here!"  Jesus continues, walking on the water toward Mack: "Don't think about the past.  Don't think about the pain.  Look at Me.  Everything is gonna be okay."  Mack looks down one more time as the stern of his boat sinks beneath the water.  He looks back at Jesus and stares at Him in desperation as he sinks.  Jesus, locking into his gaze: "None of this can hurt you.  Trust Me."  Mack's breathing slows as he keeps his eyes on Christ.  Suddenly, he is sitting once again in a sturdy rowboat in the middle of a clear lake.  Jesus walks across the water toward him.

Mack is speaking with Wisdom (personified as a woman in a white dress) in a dim cave: "You know what I don't understand, is how God can love Missy and put her through so much horror?"  Mack wonders if God used the murder of his little girl to punish him.  Wisdom: "Is that who your God is, Mackenzie?  No wonder you're drowning in great sorrow.  God isn't like that.  This was not God's doing."  Mack, accusingly: "He didn't stop it!"  Wisdom: "He doesn't stop a lot of things that cause Him pain.  What happened to Missy was the work of evil.  And no one in your world is immune from it.  You want the promise of a pain-free life?"  Mack, nodding: "Yes."  Wisdom: "There isn't one.  As long as there is another will in this universe, free not to follow God, evil can find a way in."  Mack, whispering: "There's gotta be a better way."  Wisdom: "There is.  But the better way involves trust."  Mack sinks to the ground, relinquishing control: "I don't wanna be the judge anymore."  A glowing light begins to fill the cave behind the waterfall.  Mack stands, looking through the mist, and sees a vision of his daughter, Missy, playing happily in the fields of Heaven.

God (in the form of an elderly man called Papa) has brought Mack to the forest for a task He says will be very painful.  Mack backs away in horror: "You want me to forgive him?"  Papa nods.  Mack: "He killed my daughter!  I wanna hurt him.  I want him to hurt like he hurt me.  I want You to hurt him!"  Papa: "I know you do.  But he, too, is my son.  And I want to redeem him."  Mack, angrily: "Redeem him?  He should burn in Hell!"  Papa: "So, we're back to you as the judge?"  Mack, struggling: "So, You just let him get away with it?"  Papa shakes His head: "Nobody gets away with anything.  Everything bears consequences."  Mack, beginning: "What he did - -"  Papa, finishing: "Was horrible.  I'm not asking you to excuse what he did.  I'm asking you to trust Me to do what's right and to know what's best."  Mack grimaces, shaking his head.  Papa: "Mack, the pain inside is devouring you, robbing you of joy and crippling your capacity to love."  Mack, tearfully: "I can't!"  Papa: "You're not stuck because you can't.  You're stuck because you won't."  Mack sits down, his head between his knees.  Suddenly, he notices a ladybug on his hand (his daughter was murdered by the Ladybug Killer).  Papa bends down next to him: "You don't have to do this alone."  Mack whispers his forgiveness aloud and the ladybug flies away.  Mack, looking far from relieved of his burden: "I'm still angry."  Papa: "Of course you are.  No one lets go all at once.  You might have to do it 1,000 times before it gets any easier.  But, it will."

Mack has just been given the choice of whether to go to heaven or remain on Earth and return to his family.  Mack: "Everything about being here has been so remarkable.  Back home, I go to work.  Try to be a good person.  Love my family.  Does what I do really matter?"  Sarayu: "Absolutely.  Mack, you are important.  And so is everything you do."  Jesus: "Every time you love, Mack, or forgive, with every act of kindness, the universe changes for the better."  Papa nods in agreement: "If anything matters, then everything matters."  Mack: "Then I wanna go home."

Jack is riding his bike down a street in England when, suddenly, lights begin turning out around the world.  From the corner market to Big Ben, to America and Asia, every single light goes dark.  A view of Earth from space shows the dramatic effect of the total darkness.  But the most dramatic effect is, perhaps, for Jack.  When the lights on his block go completely dark, he reaches an intersection at the same time as a city bus.  Blinded, they collide, and Jack goes flying onto the concrete.


Dell, having gathered the entire household in the hall, excitedly unveils his first attempt at painting.  Everyone stares, open-mouthed, at the childish portrait of a huge dog with a tiny head.  The head seems to be cut from a magazine, the feet are plastic hair combs, and the rest of the body appears to have been painted on with a cheese grater.  Dell: "What do you think?  Come on?"  Charlotte, trying to be diplomatic, searches for the words: "There's something..."  Maggie, finishing her sentence: "Something very passionate."  The others chime in, trying to affirm Dell's efforts.  "Almost post-post-modern."  "I like the dog."  "It's...unexpected.  And I say that with admiration."  Dell, moved, walks away, dreaming of becoming a famous artist.  Once he's gone, Philip moves forward to get a closer look at the artwork.  Yvonne: "You can't be serious?"  Philip: "Well, it might not be your cup of tea, or mine..."  Yvonne: "Or even in the tea family?"  Philip, continuing: "But the important thing is to see and encourage potential.  Don't you see potential here?"  Philip smiles and Yvonne nods, smiling too.


Latrice is fed up with Dell.  The father of her child has been recently released from prison, but shows no signs of finding employment or even a place to live.  When he assumes he can sleep on her couch, it is, for her, the last straw.  She orders him out of the apartment, angrily confronting him for his lack of parental responsibility: "You owe us so much child support that the other thing that you owe us is a 'thank you' for not reporting you.  I am done, Dell.  I don't want to see you and neither do Anthony."  Dell tries to argue, but Latrice is firm: "I can't count on you."  Dell, admitting no wrong: "What do you want from me?"  Latrice: "Now?  Nothing.  What did I want from you?  Everything.  Help.  Support."  Dell, defensively: "I support you, Latrice."  Latrice: "How?  Where?  You never look out for nobody but you, Dell."  Latrice, putting Dell's bag outside, orders him never to return.  Dell, still unapologetic, heads to the door.  He sees his son peeking quietly around the corner, watching him leave.  (Caution: h-word used)


It is Dell's first day as Philip's caregiver and Yvonne is showing him the ropes.  They walk into Philip's bedroom, where he lies prone in bed, unable to move anything aside from his head.  On one side of the bed is a table covered with pill bottles.  On the other side is Philip's wheelchair.  Philip himself looks resigned.  Yvonne tells Dell to transfer Philip from the bed to the chair so he can be fed breakfast.  Dell, somewhat surprised: "Do you want me to go pick him up?"  Yvonne nods her assent.  Dell moves uncertainly toward the bed, throwing back the blankets that Philip has no ability to move.  Philip, helpless as a rag doll, silently submits while Dell maneuvers him into the chair.  Thinking his job done, Dell starts to move away.  Philip's eyes widen as he feels himself falling sideways back toward the bed.  Yvonne darts toward Philip, yelling: "The buckle!"  She manages to catch Philip before he falls completely out of the chair.  Yvonne, tersely: "You need to buckle him.  This needs to be strapped at all times!"  Gently, she puts Philip's arms on the armrests of his chair and straps him in securely.

Bailey, an elderly St. Bernard, is playing happily with his owners and their 2-year-old granddaughter CJ in a kiddie-pool. Unfortunately, CJ’s mean-spirited mother walks up and orders the “filthy dog” out of the water. But once removed, Bailey misunderstands the gesture as Gloria bends over to retrieve CJ...

It is the day of Jack's first major concert and Rocky is about to lead him out onto the stage.  Rocky stops before opening the door: "Can I just say, for a long time, I didn't really know why I'd been born.  Felt a bit pointless.  But now I do know.  I was born to serve the greatest musician of all time.  It is my honor now to open this door for the moment the entire world has been waiting for."  The two embrace and Rocky opens the door.  They see nothing but a fire escape and a tall fence.  Rocky: "Wrong door."  Sheepishly, Rocky leads Jack back through the building to another door.  Jack exits to find tens of thousands of screaming fans waiting for him.  (Caution: h-word used)


Tim has just learned of his father's death.  Now, he regrets his childhood decision not to live with his father: "I should have gotten on that train.  After my mom died, my dad and I drifted apart."  Tim remembers that his father tried to make a home for him, but Tim wouldn't give him the chance.  Pikachu: "How come?"  Tim: "I didn't think he cared.  I guess I got used to him not being around and I couldn't forgive him for it."  But, now that Tim is an adult, he realizes that his dad really did care for him.  Tim, starting to cry: "But I didn't know because I never gave him the chance.  And now it's too late.  I really wish I'd gotten on that train."


Max, worried, can't sleep.  He decides to check on Liam, who is sleeping peacefully.  Max sighs and starts to trot back to bed.  A bird chirps.  Max stops in his tracks: "What's that?"  An owl hoots.  Max turns in the other direction with a startled gasp.  A crow caws.  Max whimpers.  A frog croaks, an elk honks, and a cricket chirps.  Max's imagination is running wild.  A turkey gobbles, a squirrel chews, and a cow passes gas.  Max screams in absolute terror.  The sounds stop.  Max begins to relax when, suddenly, a fox jumps out of the bushes and snaps at him.  Max cowers, begging for his life.  Just then, Rooster attacks the fox and chases him away.  Max nervously chuckles at the big farm dog: "I couldn't see him because of the cone." (Max is wearing a medical cone around his neck.)  Rooster, bluntly: "Then get rid of the cone."  Max: "I would, but my therapist says I need it.  Yeah, it's a medical device."  Rooster unceremoniously tears the cone off Max's neck: "There.  You're cured."  He walks away.  Max: "Not a fan of the farm."  


When Jack announces that he has written a number of new songs, his parents ask to hear one.  With lukewarm enthusiasm, they sit down to listen as Jack begins playing the piano.  Smiling politely, they sit through the first measure of "Let it Be," until the doorbell rings.  Jack stops, turning to look at his father.  Jed, mildly: "Good start.  Very pretty."  Family friend Terry enters the room and is invited to hear Jack's new song, "Leave it Be."  Jack, correcting them: "Let it Be."  Terry feigns enthusiasm while Jack begins again.  Before Jack can even complete the first line, Jed turns to Terry, asking loudly if he'd like a drink.  Jack, frustrated, stops playing: "Dad!"  Jed: "What?  I'd already heard that bit."  Jack tries to start again, but finds it difficult amid the comings and goings to the kitchen.  Jack, clearly feeling slighted: "Is everyone all settled?"  Sheila, impatiently, as if Jack has been the source of all the interruptions: "Yes!  Hurry it up, darling, you're losing the crowd."  Again, Jack begins, singing for several seconds before Terry's phone rings.  He stops and listens while Terry talks to Marge: "I'm just at Jed and Sheila's house, listening to Jack's new song, 'Let Him Be.'"  Marge says something on her end, to which Terry responds: "No, well, apparently he's started up again."  Marge says something else.  Terry, his voice now sounding both disappointed and sympathetic: "Yeah.  Yeah, I know.  I know.  I know.  I know."  Jack stares, knowing Terry and Marge are talking about his lackluster musical career right in front of him.  Terry, seeing that Jack is listening, quickly hangs up and asks Jack to start again.  Jed, quickly: "Maybe start after the first bit.  I've heard it three times now."  Annoyed, Jack tells them he's starting at the top.  Jack has just begun to play when Jed interrupts, requesting a different song.  Jack pounds the keys in disgust. (Caution: Jesus' name misused)

Zach and his friends are at a party, drinking and playing games.  A football player from an opposing team approaches Zach and starts to trash talk.  Taking the bait, Zach slings some mean words back.  Both players alternate boasting about themselves with insulting the other player.  Suddenly, the other player pushes Zach, whose friends loudly encourage him to fight back.  When the player makes one more deliberately offensive remark, Zach swings and knocks him to the ground.  Fights break out all over the field as people choose sides and begin to throw punches.  Two men locked in a tackle fall to the ground, hitting Zach's knee in the process.  A loud snap is heard and Zach falls to the ground in agony, all of his hopes for the football season dashed in an instant.  (Caution: underage minors drinking)


Shane and CJ are driving around when Shane suggests stopping at a friend's party.  CJ is reluctant: "I should probably get home.  I've got school tomorrow."  Shane: "Come on, CJ.  Don't kill the fun!"  CJ caves and the two head to the party.  Once there, CJ is dismayed to see that the small gathering she had envisioned was really a full-blown party.  She asks Shane to take her home, but he hands her a beer instead and wanders off to join his friends.  Holding the beer, CJ watches as Shane buys drugs off a buddy.  She wishes she had never come.  Just then, CJ notices that people are starting to flock out of the house in droves.  She looks around, trying to figure out what's going on.  Just as she turns to leave, she comes face-to-face with a police officer.


Tim is hanging from a skyscraper by his fingertips.  Screaming, he cries out for help while an evil Pokémon tries to pry his hands off the window sill.  Just as he appears about to fall, Roger appears and rescues Tim.  Knocking the Pokémon away, Roger pulls Tim inside to safety.

With World War II still raging, 16-year-old Edmund -- previous king and valiant adult hero for years in Narnia -- visits a British recruiting office to hopefully enlist and fight the forces of evil...     Officer: "Are you sure you're 18?"       Edmund: "Why, do I look older?"        The officer asks to see his papers, which belong to Alberta Scrubb: the Aunt he's currently living with.        Officer: "Alberta Scrubb?"         Edmund: "That's a typographical error.  It's supposed to be Albert A. Scrubb."          Unfortunately, his sister Lucy walks in and calls out to him: "Edmund!  ...You're supposed to be helping me with the groceries."        The other men in line laugh as the officer disappointedly hands his papers back.           Edmund turns to leave as the next man in line scruffs his hair: "Better luck next time, eh, squirt?"        Once outside, Edmund complains to his sister: "Squirt?  He barely had two years on me.  I'm a king!  I've fought wars and I've led armies."        Lucy: "Not in this world."

While Edmund and Lucy are living with their Aunt and Uncle Scrubbs, they discuss a strange painting on the wall in her room.  It's the painting of an unusual ship navigating the waves of a formidable ocean...           Edmund: "Lucy?  Have you seen this ship before?"      Lucy: "Yes.  It's very Narnian-looking, isn't it?"       Edmund: "Yeah.  Just another reminder that we're here and not there."           Eustace, their bratty and annoying cousin has just entered the room: "There once were two orphans/ Who wasted their time/ Believing in Narnian nursery rhymes."         Edmund: "Please let me hit him."       Lucy: "No!"       After exchanging a few more unpleasantries, Eustace comments: "What's so fascinating about that picture anyway?  It's hideous."       Edmund (looking daggers at his cousin): "You won't see it from the other side of the door."       Lucy: "Edmund, it looks like the water is actually moving."        Eustace: "What rubbish!  See, that's what happens when you read all those fanciful novels and fairy tales of yours."       But as Edmund and Eustace continue to argue, water begins to pour out of the painting.  Panicked, Eustace grabs the painting off the wall which causes the entire room to flood over their heads.  Swimming to the surface, the three children find themselves in a swelling ocean -- alongside the same ship in the painting!  After being rescued and brought aboard, Lucy and Edmund are thrilled to be reunited with their old friend Caspian.  Eustace, however, is finding it hard to believe what has just happened.  After squabbling with Reepicheep the mouse (who saved his life) and learning that he is, indeed, in Narnia... Eustace immediately faints on deck.

While on the Dawn Treader out at sea, the conniving Eustace sneaks into the ship's galley to steal food.  After stuffing an orange into his shirt, the boy is startled by the valiant mouse Reepicheep.          "Are you aware that stealing rations is a capital offense at sea?"       Eustace: "Oh, you."         Reepicheep: "Men have been keelhauled for less."        Eustace: "For what?"       Reepicheep: "For treason and sneakiness and general nuisancery.  Look, just hand over the orange and we'll let the matter pass."         Eustace: "I don't know what you're talking about."          Reepicheep: "Allow me to...", but suddenly gasps as Eustace rudely grabs the mouse's tail!          Eustace: "Look, I've had quite enough of you."       Reepicheep, slowly pulling out his sword: "Unhand the tail.  The great Aslan himself gave me this tail.  No one touches the tail!  Period.  Exclamation mark."        Eustace: "Sorry."         Reepicheep: "Now, I will have the orange, then I will have satisfaction."        But instead, Eustace grabs a sword and runs to the ship's deck.  There the two dual it out -- the mouse chattering a lesson in swordplay 101 -- ending with Reepicheep retrieving the orange and embarrassing the brat yet again.

On Duffer's Island, Lucy is abducted by invisible Dufflepuds who force her to enter the manor of Coriakin, a magician, to find a book of incantations and recite a spell to make them visible again.  Paging through the book, she first recites a "Spell for Snow," which causes snow to start filling the room.  Blowing on the book, the snow disappears, but emits a nefarious green smoke -- tempting her with the next spell.        "An infallible spell to make you she: the beauty you've always wanted to be."      On the next page a mirror appears and Lucy watches her face transform to resemble her beautiful sister Susan.     "I'm beautiful."         Even though the spell quickly wears off, she tears the page out to use for later -- causing the book to flip pages rapidly and Aslan's roar to be heard.        Aslan: "Lucy!" and then gently, "Lucy..."         Lucy: "Aslan?"       But not seeing the great lion, she quickly stuffs the page up under her blouse.

Caspian, Edmund and crew are on Duffer's Island looking for Lucy when they are attacked by an invisible enemy with spears...          Dufflepud 1 voice: "Stop right there or perish!"      The men try to defend themselves but quickly have the swords knocked out of their hands.  (Meanwhile, Lucy is inside a secret mansion reciting a spell to make all things visible.)       Caspian: "What sort of creatures are you?"            Dufflepud Chief voice: "Big ones, with the head of a tiger and the body of a, uh..."        Dufflepud 1 voice: "Different tiger."      Chief voice: "You don't want to mess with us."          Edmund: "Or what?"         Dufflepud 2: "Or I'll claw you to death!"        Dufflepud 1: " And run my tusks right through you."         But the Dufflepuds begin to materialize, revealing them to be dwarf-sized creatures with only one leg and a giant foot (causing the men to assume by their footprints that they were giants).        Unaware that they are now visible, the Dufflepuds continue dishing out their threats.           Chief: "And I'll gnash you with my teeth."          Dufflepud 2: "  And I'll bite you with my fangs.  Grrrrr!"          Caspian (now smiling): "You mean squash us with your fat bellies? ...Tickle us with your toes?"          Horrified, the Dufflepuds now realize the jig is up!        As the men gather their swords, Edmund demands: "What have you done with my sister, you little pip-squeak?"

Continuing their quest to defeat an evil green mist by finding the seven swords to lay at Aslan's Table, the ship arrives at a volcanic island.  Once ashore, King Caspian, Edmund and Lucy find a cave with a mysterious pool (unseen below the surface is the diabolical green mist).  The pool turns anything that touches its waters into solid gold, as it is filled with a variety of golden objects -- included a previous explorer...        Edmund (after turning a seashell into gold and staring greedily at it): "Whoever has access to this pool, could be the most powerful person in the world.  Lucy, we'd be so rich.  No one could tell us what to do, or who to live with."            Caspian: "You can't take anything out of Narnia, Edmund."        Edmund: "Says who?"         Caspian: "I do."         Edmund approaches Caspian with his sword.           "I'm not your subject."                Caspian: "You've been waiting for this, haven't you?  To challenge me?  You doubt my leadership?"             Edmund: "You doubt yourself."               Caspian: "You're a child!"              Edmund: "And you're a spineless sap!   I'm tired of playing second fiddle.  First it was Peter (his older brother) and now it's you.  You know I'm braver than both of you.  And why do you get Peter's sword?  I deserve a kingdom of my own.  I deserve to rule!"          Caspian: "If you think you're so brave, prove it!" as the two begin swinging swords.            Lucy (jumping between them): "No!  Stop it!  Both of you!  Look at yourselves.  Can't you see what's happening?  This place has tempted you.  It's bewitching you.  This is exactly what Coriakin was talking about.  Let's just get out of here."          They exit, as Edmund forces himself to throw the golden shell back into the pool; the green mist hissing disappointedly.

Continuing their quest on a volcanic island (see previous Scene), the trouble-making Eustace runs off by himself and stumbles (literally) into a crevasse filled with a plethora of treasure. He greedily begins filling his pockets (unaware he is being tempted by an evil green mist).          "Finally... a favorable turn of events."          Back on shore, the crew finds Eustace missing, forcing Caspian and Edmund to go search for him.  They find the crevasse and Eustace's smoldering clothes.  They assume he is dead.  Meanwhile offshore, the crew of the anchored Dawn Treader is suddenly attacked by a flying, fire-breathing dragon!  They are able to fight the beast off -- but not before it captures Edmund.  The dragon takes the startled youth over an island area where a message has been written in fire: "I am Eustace."             Returning to the shore, they discuss the problem of Eustace now being a dragon...        Edmund: "He must have been tempted by the treasure."       Caspian: "Anyone knows a dragon's treasure is enchanted."            Eustace looks offended and growls.                   Caspian: "Well, anyone from here."

The previously sniveling Eustace -- who's recently been turned into a dragon (see previous Scene) -- and ship's crew are sleeping on the volcanic island's beach at night.  Reepicheep the mouse (one of the most valiant and honorable characters in Narnian lore) notices that Eustace is not sleeping, but continues to cry over his predicament.  Moved with compassion, the mouse approaches the dragon-boy to console him....          "Trouble sleeping?"     But Eustace just turns away.           "Now, now.  All is not as lost as it seems.  I'll stay up with you if you wish; keep you company.  I'll wager you didn't even believe in dragons this morning.  (Chuckles)  Yes.  You know, extraordinary things only happen to extraordinary people.  Maybe it's a sign, that you've got an extraordinary destiny.  Something greater than you could have imagined.  I could tell you one or two of my adventures if you like, just to pass the time," which causes Eustace to turn to the mouse with interest.       "Believe it or not, you're not the first dragon I've encountered.  Many years ago, too many than I care to mention..."

As the Dawn Treader draws closer to shore of the Dark Island, lair of the evil mist, a voice is heard...        "Keep away!  Keep awaaaaaaay!"            Edmund: "Who's there?"        Caspian: "We do not fear you!"               Voice: "Nor I you!"         Edmund then shines a light on the shore which reveals a long-haired, wild-eyed elderly man. The elderly man continues to warn them to keep away, but Caspian continues to push forward -- with the goal of finding the last sword for Aslan's Table; which the man is holding. Caspian recognizes the old man as Lord Rhoop and orders him aboard -- which the dragon Eustace quickly obliges. Caspian calms Lord Rhoop down and reveals himself as the Narnian King.           Rhoop: "My Lord?  You should not have come.  There's no way out of here.  Quickly, turn this ship about, before it's too late!"           Edmund to Caspian: "We have the sword.  Let's go!"             Caspian agrees and orders the ship turned, as Rhoop yells one more warning for all to hear: "Do not think!  Do not let it know your fears, or it will become them!"           Unfortunately, Edmund can't help but close his eyes and think of something terrible.          Edmund: "Oh, no."        Lucy: "Edmund, what did you just think of?"        Edmund: "Oh, I'm sorry," as he runs to the edge of the ship... where a gigantic sea-monster begins to materialize...

After destroying the evil mist and rescuing the sacrificed people, Eustace rejoins Lucy, Edmund, Caspian and Reepicheep.  They sail through a lily covered sea, eventually anchoring on a shore with a massive stationary wave -- guarding the entrance to the inward lying land. Aslan appears to them, tells them well done, and that their journey has come to an end.  He also reveals that His country lies beyond...         Caspian (referring to his noble father who died): "Is my father in Your country?"        Aslan: "You can only find that out for yourself, my son.  But you should know that if you continue, there is no return."        Caspian walks toward the wall of water, stops short of entering, and only places a hand inside.  He then turns back to the others; tears welling up in his eyes.         Edmund: "You're not going?"         Caspian: "I can't imagine my father would be very proud that I gave up what he died for.  I spent too long wanting what was taken from me, and not what was given.  I was given a kingdom.  A people," as he walks to Aslan, "I promise to be a better king."         Aslan: "You already are."             The children also decide not to enter Aslan's Land yet, but to instead return home.                      Reepicheep clears his throat, approaches Aslan and bows: "Your Eminence.  Ever since I can remember, I have dreamt of seeing Your country.  I've had many great adventures in this world, but nothing has dampened that yearning.  I know I am hardly worthy, but with Your permission, I would lay down my sword for the joy of seeing Your country with my own eyes."              Aslan: "My country was made for noble hearts such as yours, no matter how small their bearers be."                    Reepicheep (bowing): "Your Majesty."                   Caspian (to Reep): "No one could be more deserving."                     Edmund: "It's true."             After goodbyes are said, Reepicheep boards and rides a tiny boat up and over the monolithic wave -- and into Aslan's Land forever!

It is Christmas and Pastor Baker is preaching a sermon to his congregants.  Pastor: "We all could use a moment.  I'm talking about a game-changing, seismic-shift, capital-M moment.  Where, after that, everything in your life seems different."  The pastor reminds them that Christmas was one of those moments, where Jesus entered the world and changed history forever.  But he acknowledges that many will throw their moments away: "We suffer from an affliction called the 'Somedays,' and it goes something like this.  'Someday, I'm really gonna listen more, not just talk.'  'Someday, I'm going to pour into my kids.'  'Someday, I'm gonna get right with all of that God stuff.  I'm going to get spiritually aligned.'  God's gift to us was Jesus, so that one day our 'someday' could become our moment."


Now that Billy is a superhero, Freddy and Billy have decided to test his abilities.  First, they decide to see if Billy can fly.  Billy: "How do we do this?"  Freddy, ready with his phone to film their attempt: "Just, like, Superman it."  Billy half-heartedly puts one arm in the air, making a lift-off sound with his mouth, but remaining firmly on the ground.  Freddy: "Obviously, you have to jump."  Billy, sarcastically: "How is any of this obvious?"  Freddy: "Try to believe that you can fly, okay?  I read this deep-dive into peer reviewed studies about superpowers and, in six out of ten, belief is the key."  Billy, all but confident: "Belief.  Belief.  Okay.  I believe I can fly.  I believe I can fly."  Screwing up his courage, Billy takes a flying leap off the roof of a parked car.  Dropping like a boulder, he slams chest-first into the pavement.  Groaning, Billy stands up.  Freddy: "Did you believe?"  Billy, somewhat angrily: "Yeah!"  Freddy: "You wanna try invisibility?"


Beck joins a morose Peter on the roof:  "How're you doing?"  Peter, feeling burdened by his role as a superhero: "I didn't think I was gonna have to save the world this summer.  I know that makes me sound like such a jerk..."  Peter explains that he had a plan for what his summer would look like and it didn't turn out that way.  Beck, an older and more mature superhero, can understand Peter's feelings: "You're not a jerk for wanting a normal life, kid.  It's a hard path.  You see things.  You do things.  You make choices.  People look up to you.  And, even if you win a battle, sometimes they die.  There's a part of me that wants to tell you, just turn around, run away from all this.  Then, there's another part of me that knows what we're about to fight, what's at stake.  And I'm glad you're here."  Peter, relieved: "It's really nice to have someone to talk to about superhero stuff, you know?"  Beck smiles: "Anytime."


A narrator, speaking directly from the gospel of Luke, introduces a young woman named Mary.  Mary has just returned from fetching water when she sees a bright light and hears a voice telling her not to be afraid.  Turning quickly, she sees the angel Gabriel, who tells her she will give birth to a son and name him Jesus.  Mary: "How can this be?  I am a virgin."  Gabriel: "The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee."  Gabriel tells Mary her son will be the Son of God.

A newly pregnant Mary has come to visit her cousin Elizabeth, who is also carrying a miraculous child.  When Mary greets Elizabeth, the older woman places her hand to her stomach as if feeling a kick, and looks in amazement at Mary: "You are the most blessed of all women.  And blessed is the child you will bear."  Mary praises the Lord.

Mary and Joseph stand in a crowded courtyard, listening to an announcement of the new census requirements.  Later, a heavily pregnant Mary huddles on the back of a donkey while Joseph leads her through the crowded streets of Bethlehem.  A fruitless search leads them to a stable where Joseph lays the now groaning Mary down on a pile of hay.

A group of shepherds are placidly watching their sheep when a bright light suddenly pierces the darkness.  The shepherds rise quickly and see an angel standing nearby.  The angel speaks to them, announcing the birth of Jesus Christ.  Later, the shepherds go to the stable where this child has been born and see for themselves the truth of what the angel had told them.

A week after His birth, Mary and Joseph go to the temple to present the baby Jesus to the Lord.  On arriving there, an old man named Simeon greets them.  (The narrator explains that the Holy Spirit had promised this man he would not die until he had seen the Christ.)  Simeon takes the child in his arms, telling Mary and Joseph that he can now die contented: "For mine eyes have seen Thy salvation."  Simeon blesses Mary and Joseph and they start back on the journey home to Nazareth.

Jesus is now twelve years old.  Joseph and Mary have brought him to Jerusalem for Passover.  Thinking He was still in their company, Joseph and Mary leave, and Jesus stays in the temple for three days while His parents search for Him.  When they find Him, He is speaking with learned men who are amazed at the questions Jesus asks.  On their way out of the temple, Mary chastises Jesus for leaving without telling them.  Jesus, calmly: "Did you not know that I must be about my Father's business?"  Joseph and Mary look at each other, stunned into silence.

John the Baptist is in the desert, baptizing those who desire to repent from their sins.  John, addressing the crowd: "Turn away from your sins and be baptized, and God will forgive your sins!"  The wild-looking man waits in the river as a line of people take their turns standing before him.  John, quoting from the prophet Isaiah: "Someone is shouting in the desert, get the road ready for the Lord.  Make a straight path for Him to travel."  Even Roman soldiers have gathered to hear the amazing words of this man.  Someone in the crowd asks John what they need to do to find salvation.  John walks among the people, instructing them to share their belongings and food with one another, to be honest in their business transactions, and to be content with what they have.

John is baptizing his followers when a man in the crowd asks: "Tell us, are you the Christ?"  John: "I baptize you with water, but Someone is coming who is much greater than I am."  Jesus begins to make his way through the crowd toward John.  John continues: "I am not good enough even to untie His sandals.  He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire."  While John speaks, Jesus enters the water and walks toward him.  John watches as Jesus kneels before him and submerges Himself under the water.  When He rises, a dove descends from the sky to rest on His shoulder.  Narrator: "A voice from heaven said, 'This is my beloved Son, in You I am well pleased.'"

Jesus is walking alone through a dry and barren desert.  Narrator:  "...He was led by the Spirit into the desert, where He was tempted by the devil for forty days."  Jesus, much weakened by fasting, stumbles.  He sits down to rest, picking up a rock in His hands.  A serpent slithers close, saying: "If You are God's Son, order this stone to turn into bread."  Jesus stands, staring at the serpent: "It is written that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God."  He drops the stone and walks away.  Narrator: "Then the devil took Him up and showed Him in a second all the kingdoms of the world."  Jesus looks over a great canyon, seeing a vision of a kingdom.  Satan: "I will give You all this power and all this wealth.  It has all been handed to me and I can give it to anyone I choose.  All this will be Yours, then, if You worship me."  Jesus responds unflinchingly: "It is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.'"  Jesus again turns to walk away from Satan.  Narrator: "Then the devil took Him to Jerusalem and set Him on the highest point of the temple."  Satan: "If You are God's Son, throw Yourself down from here, for the Scripture says God will order His angels to take good care of You."  Jesus, whispering from exhaustion: "The Scripture says, 'You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.'"

Jesus has come to His hometown of Nazareth.  On the Sabbath, He goes to the synagogue.  When He is asked to read from Isaiah, Jesus walks to the front of the room.  Voices in the crowd whisper in amazement: "Isn't that Joseph's son?"  The scrolls are brought to Jesus, but He recites God's word without looking at them.  Jesus: "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me because He has chosen Me to bring good news to the poor.  He has sent Me to bring release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind.  To set at liberty those who are oppressed and announce that the time has come when the Lord will save His people."  Jesus returns the scrolls, stepping closer to the crowd: "This passage of Scripture has come true today as you heard it being read."  The crowd begins to murmur angrily against Jesus.  Jesus, raising His voice to be heard above the voices: "I tell you this, no prophet is welcome in his hometown."  Jesus is then half-pushed, half-carried out of the synagogue by the angry crowd.

Jesus approaches Peter, who is mending his nets, and asks him if He can stand in his boat.  Peter agrees, pushing Jesus a few feet out into the water so He won't be overwhelmed by the crowds gathered to hear Him speak.  Jesus, addressing the crowd: "Once there were two men who went up to the temple to pray.  One was a Pharisee, the other a tax collector.  The Pharisee stood apart by himself and prayed, 'I thank You, God, that I am not greedy or dishonest or an adulterer like everybody else.  I thank You that I am not like that tax collector over there.  I fast twice a week, and I give You one tenth of all my income.'  But the tax collector stood at a distance and would not even raise his face to heaven, but beat upon his breast and said, 'God have pity on me, a sinner.'  I tell you, the tax collector, not the Pharisee, was in the right with God when he went home.  For the man who exalts himself will be humbled.  And he who humbles himself will be exalted."

Jesus instructs Peter and his friends to push their boats out into deep water and let down their nets.  Peter, complaining a bit, tells his Lord that they worked hard all night and caught nothing.  But, after a moment of looking at Jesus, he smiles: "But, if You say so, I'll let down the nets."  He calls to James and John and they obey Jesus's command.  A little while later, the men are astounded when they pull up nets so full of fish they cannot lift them.  The men laugh, overjoyed, as they scoop the hordes of fish into their boats.  Peter stops working a moment to look at Jesus, and the smile fades on his face.  Jesus looks back at Peter, staring into his eyes.  Suddenly, realization seems to dawn on Peter and he is filled with a terrible sense of awe.  Peter: "Go away from me, Lord.  I am a sinful man."  Jesus looks compassionately down on the poor fisherman: "Don't be afraid.  From now on, you will be catching men."

Jesus has just finished preaching to a crowd so large He has to push His way through them to get out of the building.  A man calls out to him: "Jesus!  I beg you to save my oldest daughter.  Sir, have mercy!  She's only twelve years old and...and dying.  Please!  Please come with me!"  Jesus stops walking as a man comes to tell Jairus that his daughter has already died.  Jesus: "Don't be afraid.  Only believe and she will be well."  Jairus and his friends stare at Jesus, amazed that He would claim power over death.  Jesus follows Jairus back to his house, where his daughter lies on a bed.  Jesus looks down at the girl and then at her parents: "Do not weep.  She's not dead, but only sleeping."  He kneels beside the girl: "Child, arise."  She sits up, opening her eyes, and looks at Jesus.

Matthew is seated at the toll gate, collecting the taxes of the people.  He looks up from his ledger to see Jesus staring piercingly at him.  Jesus approaches, laying a hand on Matthew's shoulder: "Follow Me."  Saying nothing more, Jesus begins to walk away.  Matthew sits still, watching, but when Jesus turns and looks at him, the tax collector puts down his ledger and follows Him, smiling.

After spending all night praying, Jesus greets his twelve disciples.  He approaches them, embracing each in turn as the narrator identifies them by name.  Looking at His disciples, Jesus tells them they are blessed because of their poverty, their hunger, and their persecution.  Jesus: "Blessed are you when men hate you and reject you and insult you and say you are evil, all because of the Son of Man.  Be glad when that happens and dance for joy, because a great reward is kept for you in heaven.  For their ancestors did the very same things to the prophets."

Jesus walks through the crowd, teaching: "But I tell you who hear Me, love your enemies.  Do good to those who hate you.  Bless those who curse you.  And pray for those who mistreat you."  Walking up to a man, He lays a hand on his cheek: "If anyone strikes you on the one cheek, let him hit the other one also."  Seeing a beggar, Jesus approaches: "And if someone takes your coat, let him have your shirt as well."  Handing the beggar an apple, Jesus continues: "Give to everyone who begs from you.  And if someone takes what is yours, do not ask for it back again.  Do for others only what you would have others do for you."  Jesus walks over to stand next to a prostitute, addressing the crowd: "If you love only the people who love you, why should you receive a blessing?  For even sinners love those who love them.  And if you do good to those who do good to you, why should you receive a blessing?  Even sinners do that."  Jesus lays a hand on the prostitute's shoulder and she gasps, turning to Him in amazement.  A man in the crowd murmurs, disgusted: "How could He touch her?  How could He talk to her?"  The prostitute hears and hangs her head.  Jesus walks over to the man: "Love your enemies, and do good to them."  The man looks away from Jesus.  Jesus lays a hand on the man's shoulder: "Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful."  The man moves away from Jesus, rejecting His teaching.  Jesus continues teaching the people, telling them not to judge, but to forgive.  He follows the man who judged the prostitute, chastising him for neglecting the log in his own eye while trying to take the speck from hers.

A Pharisee has invited Jesus to his home for dinner.  The men are sitting around the table, talking and eating, when a prostitute enters the room.  Murmurs are heard around the table: "What is she doing here?"  She walks up to Jesus, stands before Him, and bursts into tears.  Seeing that her tears are falling on Jesus's feet, she bends down and wipes His feet with her hair.  The men around the table are disgusted and begin to back away from the scene.  When the woman begins kissing Jesus's feet, the Pharisee whispers to himself: "If this Man really were a Prophet, He would know who this woman is who is touching Him.  He would know what kind of a sinful life she lives."  Knowing the Pharisee's thoughts, Jesus looks up at him, saying: "I know who this woman is, Simon."  Simon looks startled to realize that Jesus knows his thoughts.  Jesus tells him a story of two men whose debts were forgiven.  The one who owed more money was the one who loved his creditor more.  Jesus: "You see this woman.  I came into your home.  You gave Me no water for My feet, yet she has washed My feet with her tears and dried them with her hair.  You did not welcome Me with a kiss.  But, since I came, she has not stopped kissing My feet.  You provided no olive oil for My head.  But she has anointed My feet with perfume.  I tell you then, the great love she has shown proves that her many sins are forgiven.  But whoever is forgiven little, shows only a little love."  Jesus stands and lifts the woman to her feet, telling her: "Your sins are forgiven you."

Herod has thrown John the Baptist into prison for condemning his marriage to his brother's wife.  Several followers of Jesus have come to visit John in prison.  One of the men kneels in front of John's cell, telling how he witnessed Jesus raising a man from the dead.  John, clutching the bars of his prison: "Ask Him, say, 'Are you the One John said was going to come, or should we expect someone else?"  The men return to Jesus and convey John's message.  Jesus: "Go back and tell John what you have seen and heard:  the blind can see, the lame can walk.  How happy are those who have no doubts about Me."

A crowd has gathered to hear Jesus teach.  He addresses them, walking slowly among them: "A sower went out to sow his seed.  And, as he scattered the grain, some of it fell by the path and was trodden on.  And the birds of the air devoured it.  And some fell on rocky ground.  And when the plants sprouted, they withered away because they had no moisture.  And some seeds fell among thorns.  And the thorns grew up with the plants and choked them.  And some seeds fell in good soil.  And the plants grew and bore grain."  Later on, Jesus is with his disciples and they ask Him why He speaks in parables.  Jesus stands and explains the meaning of the parable of the sower to his disciples.  Taking a handful of grain and scattering it on the ground: "The seed is the Word of God.  The seeds that fell along the path stand for those who hear, but the devil comes and takes the message away from their hearts in order to keep them from believing and being saved.  The seeds that fell on rocky ground stand for those who hear the message and receive it gladly, but they have no roots.  They believe only for awhile, and when the time of testing comes, they fall away.  The seeds that fell among thorns stand for those who hear, but the worries and riches and pleasures of this life crowd in and choke them, and their fruit never ripens.  And the seeds that fell on good soil stand for those who hear the message and retain it in a good and obedient heart.  And they persist until they bear fruit."

Jesus and His disciples are sailing in a boat when a powerful storm begins to brew.  Waves are crashing over the boat, rain is pouring down, and the disciples are frantically trying to maintain control of the vessel.  Jesus is lying in the boat, covered by a blanket, asleep.  The men fight as a huge wave threatens to topple the little ship.  Finally, Peter cries out: "Master!  We are about to die!"  Jesus stands up and reaches a hand out to the waves.  Immediately, the winds die down and the rain fades away.  The sun shines down on the amazed faces of the disciples.  Turning to face them, Jesus says: "Where is your faith?"  The men continue to stare at Him, in awe of His power to calm the storm.

Jesus and his disciples are landing their boat when a man approaches them, growling and glaring menacingly.  The man is naked and unkempt.  Jesus walks quickly up to stand in front of him.  The man lifts a stone as if to strike Jesus with it, but stops, snarling as he drops to his knees: "Jesus, Son of the Most High God, what do You want with me?  I beg You, don't punish me!"  Jesus, sternly: "What is your name?"  The man begins to shake, not answering, but when Jesus raises a hand, he gasps: "Legion.  Lord, we beg You, do not send us into the abyss.  Let us enter into the herd of swine."  The man begins to whimper, terrified of Jesus.  Jesus points to the herd of pigs, who suddenly go wild.  Their owner shouts after them as they begin racing away.  One of the disciples places a blanket over the man who had been demon-possessed.  The man, now in his right mind, looks at Jesus: "I'll follow You wherever You go.  Let me come with You."  Instead, Jesus tells him to return home: "And tell what God has done for you."

Jesus and His disciples are in a remote place and a crowd of thousands of people have followed them.  Peter asks Jesus to send the people away to get food.  Jesus looks around with compassion at those who have come to Him for healing and teaching.  Not wishing to send them away, He tells Peter to provide food for the people.  Mary Magdalene points to nearly empty baskets held by a young boy: "But all we have are five loaves and two fish."  Taking the baskets and lifting them up to heaven, Jesus prays: "Blessed art Thou, O Lord our God, King of the universe, who bringeth forth bread from the earth."  Jesus lowers the baskets and His disciples exclaim aloud when they see the baskets are miraculously filled with food.

Jesus is silently praying with His disciples waiting nearby.  When He is finished, He walks over to them, asking: "Who do the crowds say I am?"  Peter: "Some say You are John the Baptist.  Others say that You are Elijah, while others say that one of the prophets from long ago has come back to life."  Jesus, looking intently at Peter: "What about you?  Who do you say I am?"  Peter walks slowly toward Jesus: "You are God's Messiah."  The disciples wait to see how Jesus will respond.  Jesus: "You shall tell no man of this.  The Son of Man must suffer much and be rejected.  He will be put to death, but three days later will be raised to life."

Jesus and His followers are sitting around a fire.  Suddenly, He looks around at them, asking: "Will any of you come with Me?"  One immediately speaks: "I will follow You, Master.  But first let me go and say goodbye to my family."  Jesus looks at him: "Anyone who starts to plow and then keeps looking back is of no use for the Kingdom of God."  Jesus looks around the circle: "If anyone wants to come with Me, he must forget himself, take up his cross every day, and follow Me.  For whoever would save his own life will lose it.  And whoever would lose his life for My sake will save it.  What will it profit a man if he gained the whole earth and lose his own soul?"

Jesus, Peter, James, and John have climbed to the top of a hill to pray.  While the disciples sit down and rest, Jesus walks off by Himself, covering His head.  Suddenly, Jesus's clothes are dazzling white and two ghostly figures appear on either side of Him.  Peter looks up, seeing Jesus with the spirits of Moses and Elijah, and whispers for the others to look.  When the spirits fade away, the disciples run up to Jesus.  Peter offers to build tents for Jesus, Moses, and Elijah.  While he is speaking, however, a large cloud descends on top of them, frightening the disciples.  A Voice is heard coming from the cloud: "This is my Son, the Chosen One.  Listen to Him."

Jesus, Peter, James, and John have just come down from the Mount of Transfiguration when they meet a crowd there waiting for them.  A man calls out from the crowd, begging Jesus to heal his demon-possessed son.  He points to the boy, who is writhing on the ground, groaning and foaming at the mouth.  Man: "Please help him.  He's my only child.  I begged Your disciples to cast it out, but they could not."  Jesus looks at His disciples: "O faithless and perverse generation.  How long am I to be with you and bear with you?"  Jesus calls for the now limp boy to be brought to Him.  When he is laid at Jesus's feet, the demonic attack resumes in greater force than before.  Self-inflicted scratches can be seen on the side of the boy's face while he throws his head from side to side.  Jesus moves around to stand at the boy's feet.  His cries quiet and his thrashing stops.  Soon, he stands to his feet, staring in gratitude and amazement at Jesus.

Jesus's disciples are washing themselves in a river.  One approaches and asks Jesus to teach them to pray.  Jesus: "When you pray, say, 'Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.  Thy kingdom come.  Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.  Give us, day by day, our daily bread.  And forgive us our sins, who we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.'"  Jesus and his followers move away from the river to walk in the woods.  Jesus continues to talk about prayer: "Ask and you will receive.  Seek and you will find.  Knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks will receive.  And he who seeks will find.  And the door will be opened to anyone who knocks."  Laughing, Jesus asks: "Would any of you who are fathers give to your son a snake when he asks for a fish?  Or a scorpion when he asks for an egg?  As bad as you are, you know how to give good things to your children.  How much more, then, will the Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?"

Jesus is instructing His disciples as they walk through a sunny field.  Jesus: "I tell you this, take no thought in your life for what you shall eat, nor for your body, what you shall wear.  For life is more than food and the body more than clothing."  Jesus points toward a cawing bird: "Consider the ravens.  They neither sow nor reap, have neither storehouse nor barn, yet God feeds them.  Of how much more worth are you than the birds?"  Jesus sits down, looking into the eyes of His followers: "Which of you, by being anxious, can add to his life?  If you cannot do such a small thing, why do you worry about the rest?"  Jesus gestures to a beautiful yellow lily: "Consider the lilies, how they grow.  They neither toil nor spin, yet Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like a single one of them.  If God, who clothes the wild grass today, which tomorrow is thrown onto a fire, how much more sure is He to clothe you, oh you of little faith?"  Disciple: "Make our faith greater."  Jesus: "If you had faith as big as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, pull yourself up by the roots and plant yourself in the sea, and it would obey you."

Jesus is sitting by a well, eating and talking with prostitutes, tax collectors, and other sinners.  A Pharisee walks up to Jesus, looking disgusted: "Why do You eat and drink with tax collectors and other outcasts?"  Jesus, unperturbed: "People who are well do not need a doctor, but only those who are sick.  I have not come to call respectable people to repent, but outcasts."  The Pharisee turns and walks away.  A boy asks Jesus to continue teaching them about the Kingdom of God.

While Jesus is teaching in the synagogue, a woman, bent over with a debilitating disfigurement, walks in and stands near Him.  Seeing her, the Lord has compassion on her.  He takes her face in his hands, saying: "Woman, you are free from your sickness."  He touches the large hump on her back and it disappears.  The woman straightens, testing out her new body, then lifts her hands in the air: "Praise to the Lord!"  Tearfully, she embraces Jesus, thanking Him.  However, a Pharisee approaches them, saying angrily to the woman: "There are six days in which we should work, so come on one of those days to be healed, but not on the Sabbath!"  The crowd murmurs their agreement, but Jesus is angry: "You hypocrites!  Any one of you would untie his ox or his donkey and take it out from the stall to give it water on the Sabbath.  Now, here is this descendant of Abraham whom Satan has kept in bonds these 18 years.  Could she not be released on the Sabbath?"

Jesus is walking down the road with His disciples when a wealthy merchant overtakes Him in his cart.  The merchant turns to Jesus, asking: "Good Teacher, what must I do to receive eternal life?"  Jesus answers: "Why do you call Me good?  No one is good, save God alone.  You know the commandments.  Do not commit murder.  Do not commit adultery.  Do not accuse anyone falsely.  Respect your mother and your father."  Merchant: "Ever since I was young, I have obeyed all these commandments."  Jesus: "There is still one more thing you need to do.  You must sell all you have and give the money to the poor, and you will have riches in heaven.  And come and follow Me."  The merchant is disturbed: "But we are merchants...wealthy."  Jesus, quietly: "How hard it is for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God.  It is harder for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle."  Merchant's son: "Who then can be saved?"  Jesus: "What is impossible for man is possible for God."  Merchant: "Exactly where will this be...God's kingdom?"  Jesus: "The Kingdom of God does not come in such a way as to be seen.  No one will say, 'Look, there it is,' or 'Here it is,' because the Kingdom of God is within you."

Jesus is teaching His followers about God's law when a man asks Him: "What shall we do?"  Jesus: "What do the Scriptures say?  How do you interpret them?"  Man: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind.  And love your neighbor as you love yourself."  Jesus: "You are right.  Do this and you will live."  A woman looks around at her companions, asking: "Who is my neighbor?"  Voices murmur, naming enemies (like the Roman soldiers) that they do not wish to love.  Jesus answers her question by telling them the story of the Good Samaritan.  (A young girl pictures the story in her mind as Jesus relates it.)  A man travelling to Jericho is attacked, robbed, and left for dead.  A priest and a Levite both pass by the man, but do not stop to help him.  A Samaritan, however, stops to bandage the man's wounds, places him on his own donkey, and pays an innkeeper to take care of the man.  Jesus smiles at the girl: "Which one of these three acted like a neighbor toward the man who was attacked by the robbers?"  Little girl: "The one who was kind to him."  Jesus, smiling and taking the girl in His arms: "You, then, do the same."

Jesus, holding a little girl in his arms, addresses those who have gathered to listen to Him: "Suffer the little children to come unto Me and do not forbid them.  For of such is the Kingdom of God.  Verily I say unto you, whosoever shall not receive the Kingdom of God as a little child shall in nowise enter in.  Whoever welcomes this child in My name welcomes Me.  And whoever welcomes Me welcomes the One who sent Me.  For he who is least among you all is the greatest."

Jesus and His disciples are walking on the road toward Jericho.  On the way, they pass through a crowd gathered along the side of the road.  Among them is a poor, blind beggar.  His eyes milky-white, he sits by the side of the road, reaching out with one arm, desperately asking for money.  Grasping onto a man's cloak, he pulls him aside, asking him why there are so many people gathered.  Man: "Jesus of Nazareth is passing by."  The blind man struggles to stand up and follow the crowd, stumbling as he walks along with arms outstretched.  Blind man: "Jesus!  Jesus!  Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"  Jesus stops walking and turns around to look at the man.  One of Jesus's followers goes to the blind man and helps him back to Jesus.  Jesus: "What do you want Me to do for you?"  Blind man: "I want to see again."  Jesus, putting his hands over the man's eyes: "Then see.  Your faith has made you well."  When Jesus removes His hands, the white film is gone and the man's eyes are clear.  When the amazed man announces to the crowd that he can see, they give a collective gasp.  The man falls to his knees in gratitude before Jesus.

Jesus and his disciples have arrived in Jericho, where a thick crowd has gathered to see them.  People are jostling and pushing each other, desperate to see Jesus.  Voices cry out for salvation: "My Lord and Master, save me!"  "My Lord, save us!"  A short man wearing expensive clothes leans on shoulders, standing on his tiptoes, trying to see Jesus.  Unable to catch of glimpse of the Prophet, he climbs a tree and calls out to Jesus.  Jesus, laughing: "Come thee down, Zacchaeus.  For I must stay in your house today."  Zacchaeus, surprised and honored: "My house?"  Voices murmur disapprovingly in the crowd: "Why would He want to stay in his house?"  "A tax collector..."  "Does Zacchaeus know Jesus?"  Later, in Zacchaeus's home, Jesus and His disciples are reclining around the dinner table, eating and laughing.  Suddenly, Zacchaeus stands, announcing jubilantly: "I give half of my belongings to the poor.  And if I have cheated anyone, I will pay him back four times as much!"  Moving toward a tapestry hanging on his wall, Zacchaeus stands on his tiptoes to reach it, causing the others to laugh.  He reaches behind, revealing a secret cache of money.  Going immediately to the door, he begins handing his money to the poor outside.  Jesus, smiling: "Salvation has come to this house today, for this man also is a descendant of Abraham.  The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost."

Jesus and His disciples are reclining around the dinner table, enjoying a meal together.  Suddenly, Jesus becomes solemn: "Listen.  We are going to Jerusalem, where everything the prophets wrote about the Son of Man will come true.  He will be handed over to the Gentiles.  They will mock Him and treat Him shamefully and spit upon Him.  He will be whipped and killed.  But on the third day, He will rise."

Knowing He is headed toward His death, Jesus goes to Jerusalem with His disciples.  Once there, He is mounted on a donkey and the crowd cheers and waves palm branches.  They spread their cloaks on the road in front of Him, cheering and shouting.  A Pharisee addresses Jesus: "Rabbi, command Your disciples to be quiet."  Jesus, smiling: "I tell you, if they were to be quiet, the stones themselves would begin shouting."

Jesus and His disciples are on a road overlooking the city of Jerusalem.  Jesus stops to look out over the city, grieving aloud for the people He loves who will reject Him: "If only on this, your day, you had known the path for peace.  But you have failed to see it.  The days will come when your enemies will build ramparts to surround you and build you in, pressing hard from every side.  And within these walls, they will destroy you...you and your children.  And they will not leave one stone upon another in you, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation."

The courtyard of the temple is crowded with people buying and selling all sorts of wares.  Jesus stands, watching a merchant count coins from a customer.  Angered, He begins pushing over tables of goods, toppling the produce to the ground.  He yells to be heard over the shouts of the angry crowd: "It is written, 'My house shall be a house of prayer,' and you have turned it into a den of thieves!"  Jesus runs around the courtyard, releasing sheep from their pens and birds from their cages.  When someone begins shouting for the guards, the disciples form a protective barrier, preventing Jesus from being captured.

Jesus is at the temple, watching as people leave their offerings for the Lord.  On top of a large pile of glittering treasures, a poor woman places two small coins.  Voices in the crowd begin to murmur: "Only a mite?  Can't she give more?"  Jesus addresses the crowd: "I tell you, that this poor widow put in more than all the others.  For the others offered their gifts from what they had to spare from their riches.  But she, poor as she is, put in all the living that she had."

Jesus is teaching at the temple when a teacher of the law questions Him, accusingly: "Tell us, what right do You have to say these things?  Who gave You such right?"  Jesus responds with a question: "Tell me, did John's right to baptize come from God or from man?"  The teachers move away to consult each other in private: "What shall we say?  If we were to say, 'From God,' He will say, 'Why, then, didn't you believe John?'  But if we say, 'From man,' this whole crowd here will stone us.  They're all convinced that John was a prophet."  The teachers return to Jesus, saying: "We don't know where it came from."  Jesus: "Neither will I tell you, then, by what right I do these things."

Jesus is teaching at the temple, knowing that the teachers of the law are plotting against Him.  He tells the people this parable: "There was once a man who planted a vineyard, rented it out to tenants, and then left home for a long time.  When the time came to gather the grapes, he sent a slave to the tenants to receive from them his share of the harvest.  But the tenants beat the slave and sent him back without a thing.  So he sent another slave.  But the tenants beat him too, treated him shamefully, and sent him back without a thing.  Then he sent a third slave, but the tenants wounded the slave and threw him out.  Then the owner of the vineyard said to himself, 'What shall I do?  I will send my own dear son.  For surely they will respect him.'"  Jesus looks pointedly at the teachers of the law, continuing: "But when the tenants saw him coming, they said to one another, 'This is the owner's son.  Let's kill him and his property will be ours.'  So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.  What, then, will the owner of the vineyard do to those tenants?  He will come and kill those men and give the vineyard over to other tenants."  Jesus again looks at the teachers, walking slowly toward them: "What, then, does this Scripture mean?  The stone which the builders rejected as worthless turned out to be the most important of all.  Everyone who falls on that stone will be cut to pieces.  And if that stone falls on someone, it will crush him to dust."

Trying to trap Jesus into saying something treasonous to the Roman rulers, a Jewish leader questions Him: "Teacher, we know that what You say and teach is right.  We know that You pay no attention to man's status, but teach the truth about God's will for man."  Glancing conspiratorially at a Roman official next to him, the leader asks Jesus a loaded question: "Tell us, is it against our law for us to pay taxes to the Roman emperor, or not?"  Jesus turns to the Roman, saying quietly: "Show me a silver coin."  Taking the coin, Jesus turns to the crowd and holds it up for them to see: "Whose face and name are these on it?"  Crowd: "Caesar's!"  Jesus, turning back to the leader: "Then render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God, the things that are God's."

It is the time of the Passover celebration and Jesus and His disciples are sitting down to what will be Christ's final meal.  Jesus, looking around the room at His beloved friends: "I have wanted so much to eat this Passover meal with you before I suffer.  For I tell you, I will never eat it until it is given its full meaning in the Kingdom of God."  The disciples look at one another fearfully, realizing that Jesus is saying His time has come to die.  Jesus stands, taking a cup of wine and looking up into heaven: "Blessed art Thou, O Lord our God, King of the Universe, who bringeth forth fruit from the vine."  Jesus passes the cup to the disciple next to Him, saying: "Take this and share it among yourselves.  For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the Kingdom of God comes."  The disciples begin to drink from the cup, passing it around the circle.  Jesus picks up the bread and again looks up to heaven: "Blessed art Thou, O Lord our God, King of the Universe, who bringeth forth bread from the earth."  Jesus breaks the bread and passes it to His disciples, saying: "This is My body which is given for you.  This do in remembrance of Me."  The disciples break off pieces of the bread, passing it around the circle.  As they continue to pass the cup, Jesus says: "This cup is the new testament in My blood, which is shed for you."  Judas Iscariot takes a bite of bread and a drink from the cup, and Jesus says: "But behold, the hand of him that betrayeth Me is with Me on the table.  And, truly, the Son of Man must die as God has determined.  But woe unto that man by whom He is betrayed."  The disciples whisper among themselves, astounded that one of them would betray Jesus.

Jesus is eating the Passover meal with His disciples when they begin to argue about which of them is the greatest.  Jesus: "The greatest one among you must be like the youngest.  And the leader must be like the servant.  For who is greater?  The one who sits down to eat, or the one who serves?  The one who sits down, of course.  But I am among you as one who serves.  You have stayed with Me all through My trials.  And, just as My Father has given Me the right to rule, so I will give you the same right.  You will eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and you will sit on thrones to rule over the twelve tribes of Israel."

Jesus and His disciples are seated at the Last Supper.  He places a hand on Peter's shoulder, saying: "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has desired to test all of you - - to separate the good from the bad as a farmer separates the wheat from the chaff.  But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail.  And when you have turned back to Me, you must strengthen your brethren."  Peter, fervently: "Lord, I am ready to go to prison with You and to die with You!"  Jesus, looking calmly into Peter's eyes: "I tell you, Peter, the cock will not crow this day before that you will thrice deny that you know Me."  Peter's eyes widen and he looks around the room at the other disciples.  Filled with shame and horror at the thought that He will deny his Master, he finally sinks back down at Jesus's feet.

Jesus and His disciples have come to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray before His approaching death.  Jesus tells His disciples to pray so they won't be tempted, and then He moves off to pray by Himself.  At another place in the city, Judas is taking his payment for betraying Jesus to the teachers of the law.  Back in the garden, Jesus covers His head and kneels before a large rock.  He looks up to heaven, praying: "Father, if Thou be willing, remove this cup from Me.  But, nevertheless, not My will, but Thine be done."  Jesus continues praying silently, His lips moving.  Suddenly, He is bathed in white light and an angel stands before Him, sent from heaven to comfort Him.  In His agony, Jesus begins to sweat blood, and drops of red liquid land on the surface of the rock.  As suddenly as it came, the light of the angel is gone and Jesus returns to His disciples.  Finding them all asleep, Jesus says, sadly: "Why are you sleeping?  Get up and pray that you do not fall into temptation."

Jesus and His disciples are in the Garden of Gethsemane when a crowd approaches.  The teachers of the law are leading a group of Roman soldiers, and Judas steps out from among them.  He walks slowly toward Jesus, kissing Him on the cheek.  Jesus: "Judas.  Is it with a kiss that you betray the Son of Man?"  Judas, looking stricken, sinks to the ground.  Peter rushes forward, cutting off the ear of one of the soldiers.  Jesus pulls Peter away from the soldier: "Enough of this!"  Placing His hands on the soldier's head, Jesus heals his ear.  The crowd begins to murmur, amazed.  Jesus, addressing the Jewish leaders: "Do you have to come with swords and clubs as though I were an outlaw?  I was with you everyday in the temple and you did not try to arrest Me.  But this is your hour to act, when the power of darkness rules."  Jesus is arrested and taken by the soldiers.  The disciples begin to scatter, leaving Judas behind, weeping.

Peter follows at a distance while Jesus is escorted to the house of the high priest.  Throwing Jesus on the ground, the Roman soldiers begin to mock Him.  Peter sits down near a fire and watches.  A woman next to Peter identifies him as a follower of Jesus: "I saw them together."  Peter denies it: "Woman, I don't even know Him."  People around Peter begin to stare and whisper and he moves away to stand in another place in the courtyard.  The soldiers continue to mock Jesus while Peter watches from a distance.  A man walks by Peter, accusing: "You are one of them too."  Peter, vehemently: "But I am not!"  He again moves to stand in another place.  The embers of the fires are dying down as dawn now approaches.  A third person accuses Peter of being a follower of Jesus.  Peter: "I don't know what you're talking about."  Suddenly, the rooster crows and Jesus turns, looking Peter in the eye.  Ashamed and grieved, Peter walks quickly out of the courtyard.

Jesus kneels on the ground while soldiers hit Him.  They blindfold Him, mockingly daring Him to prophesy which of them struck the blow.  An official stops the beatings, ordering Jesus to be led before the council of Jewish leaders.  Bruised and bleeding, Jesus stands before the high priest, flanked by armed soldiers.  Priest: "Tell us, are You the Messiah?"  Jesus: "If I tell you, you will not believe Me.  But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of Almighty God."  Priest: "Are you, then, the Son of God?"  Jesus: "You say that I am."  The priests begin to murmur angrily, declaring Jesus to be guilty of blasphemy.  A man stands: "We ourselves have heard what He said!"  The high priest stands: "We will take Him to Pilate."  Jesus is led from the room.

In response to an order from Pilate, Roman soldiers have brought Jesus to be sentenced by Herod.  Herod glances at Jesus's torn and dirty robes, at His bruised face: "Who is it that You say You are?"  Jesus doesn't respond.  Herod circles Him, continuing to ask questions that go unanswered.  Herod: "It is said by many You can perform signs.  Do something for me."  Again, Jesus doesn't respond.  The high priest steps forward: "My lord, he has been corrupting all the people.  He calls Himself the King."  Herod laughs, again looking at Jesus's ragged appearance: "This man?  A king?"  Mockingly, Herod places his own rich, purple robe around Jesus's shoulders and orders Him to be beaten and returned to Pilate.

The high priests have brought Jesus to stand before Pilate, hoping that the Roman ruler will condemn Him to death.  Pilate: "This man has done nothing to deserve death, so I will have Him scourged and let Him go."  The Jewish leaders remind Pilate that he is obligated to release one prisoner to celebrate the festival.  They ask for the release of Barrabus, a convicted murderer, and demand that Pilate convict Jesus instead.  Pilate strokes his arm, thinking.  Suddenly, the crowd begins to shout for Jesus's crucifixion.  Pilate orders Jesus to be flogged, and He is tied to a post in the center of the courtyard and whipped.  During the beating, the shouting of the crowd can be heard.  A few voices proclaim Jesus's innocence, but most demand His death.  The beating over, Jesus is dragged to stand once again before Pilate's throne.  Pilate throws a scroll at Jesus's feet, condemning Him to death.

Jesus is carrying His cross through the streets of the city.  Roman soldiers attempt to beat back the people who crowd around Him.  Some spit on Him and curse Him.  Others try to help Him.  Unable to bear any more, He sinks to His knees.  A soldier pulls a man named Simon of Cyrene from the crowd, ordering him to carry Jesus's burden.  The man complies and Jesus is freed to walk unburdened down the streets.  Bystanders strike at Him as He staggers along and the guards are constantly pushing the crowd back.  Jesus again stumbles and a group of women offer Him a drink.

A soldier retrieves a handful of thick, iron spikes from a pouch while Jesus and two other prisoners are prepared for crucifixion.  Another soldier rips the robe from Jesus's back, revealing the wounds from His scourging.  Jesus is tied to His cross and the crowd watches as soldiers begin to drive the nails into His wrists.  The condemned men groan with each blow of the hammer.  After the hammering is finished, the crosses are lifted to a standing position and the men are left to hang from the spikes.  Jesus looks down at the jeering crowd and then up at heaven: "Forgive them, Father, for they know not what they do."  The priests approach to stand at the foot of the cross.  Priest: "He has saved others.  Let Him save Himself."

Jesus hangs from the cross.  A soldier brings His robe to his comrades gathered at the foot of the cross: "This is no ordinary mystic's robe."  The soldiers fight over the garment until one suggests casting lots for it.  Jesus watches as they play their game.  The winner lifts his prize in the air, gloatingly.  A soldier nails a sign above Jesus's head, reading: "This is the King of the Jews."  He tries to make Jesus drink wine vinegar, mocking Him: "Save Yourself, if You are the King of the Jews."

Jesus hangs on a cross between two thieves.  One of the thieves mocks Him, gasping through his own pain: "Aren't You the Messiah?  Save Yourself and us."  The other thief chastises him for mocking Jesus: "Don't you fear God?  He received the same sentence you did.  But He has done no wrong."  The second thief looks at Jesus: "Remember me, Jesus, when You come as King."  Jesus, also gasping for breath: "I promise you, today you will be in Paradise...with Me."

A dark cloud covers the sun and the light begins to fade over the three crosses on the hill.  Those watching the crucifixion begin to mumble about signs and to run away in fear.  A loud ripping sound is heard as the veil of the temple is torn in half.  Jesus gasps, looking toward heaven: "Father, into Thy hands I commit My spirit."  His eyes close and he breathes His last.  A centurion watches Jesus die: "Glory be to God.  Certainly, this was a righteous Man."

Joseph of Arimathea has obtained permission from Pilate to bury Jesus before sundown on the Sabbath.  After collecting Jesus's body from the Roman soldiers, he wraps it in burial cloths and takes it to his own tomb.  A group of women follow the body, weeping, as Joseph lays it down on a stone slab.  Joseph takes a handful of dirt, sprinkling it along the body and then on his own head.  Turning to leave, he ushers the women out of the tomb before the Sabbath begins.  A heavy stone is rolled across the doorway.

A group of women arrive at Jesus's tomb early after the Sabbath, to anoint His body with spices.  Arriving there, they are astonished to see that the heavy stone closing His tomb has been rolled away.  Quickly, they rush inside the tomb, only to find that the body has disappeared.  A pile of burial cloths rests on a stone slab.  They stare at the cloths in shock.  Suddenly, a bright light shines on them and two angels stand before them.  Angel: "Why do you seek the living among the dead?  He is not here, but is risen.  Remember what He said to you while He was in Galilee, 'The Son of Man will be handed over to sinful men, be crucified, and on the third day, rise again.'"  The angels disappear and the women run out of the tomb to tell the disciples of their discovery.  When Peter hears the news, he runs to the tomb to see for himself if their story is true.

Several of Jesus's followers enter the house where the disciples are gathered and excitedly announce that Jesus has indeed risen from the dead.  They tell the story of their meeting with Jesus on the road to Emmaus, and are hardly finished when Jesus Himself appears before them.  Everyone in the room gasps in amazement as Jesus, wearing dazzling white robes, begins to walk among them.  Initially frightened, they back slightly away from Him.  Jesus: "Why are you troubled?  And why are these doubts coming up in your minds?"  Jesus holds out His palms for all to see: "Look at my hands and my feet and see that it is I, Myself.  Feel Me and you will know, for a spirit has not flesh and bones as you see I have.  These are the very things I spoke to you about while I was still with you.  That everything written about Me in the Law of Moses and the writings of the prophets and the psalms had to come true.  This is what is written:  the Messiah must suffer and rise from the dead on the third day.  And, in His name, the message of repentance and of forgiveness of sins must be preached to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem.  You are witnesses of these things."  Awed by what they now believe, the people fall on their knees before Jesus, the risen Lord.

The time has come for Jesus to return to His Father in heaven.  Leading His followers to a field near Bethany, He blesses them.  Then, as He rises into heaven, His voice can be heard, giving His followers one final commission.  Seeing Jesus rising into heaven, they fall on their knees and lift their hands in worship as He speaks.  Jesus: "All power is given unto Me in heaven and in Earth.  Go, therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.  And, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world."

Images from Jesus's life are displayed as a narrator summarizes the message of the gospel, giving an invitation for acceptance to all who believe.  Speaking of the uniqueness of Jesus, the narrator illustrates the powerful impact His coming had on the world.  He performed miracles, lived a holy life, died and rose again, was born of a virgin - - everything about Him was and is unique.  Narrator: "His birth, His life, His death, and His resurrection all prove that Jesus is exactly who He claimed to be...the Son of God, the Savior of all mankind.  This same Jesus Christ is alive today.  He wants to come into your life, forgive your sins, and give you power to live an abundant life."  Quotes from the Bible illustrate man's sinfulness, need for a Savior, and the way provided by Jesus's sacrifice.  The narrator ends by giving an example of a prayer to receive Christ's salvation.
