ScreenVue is the result of a joint venture and partnership between Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC).

ScreenVue first launched in 2003 as a service of CVLI. The CVLI Church Video License provides legal coverage for churches and for other ministry organizations to show DVDs, Blu-rays, digital, movie downloads and streams of motion pictures. Each organization needs to be specifically covered. Coverage includes showing the full-length feature.

Each *Total Producer Church Video License* (or any *Church Video Licence* globally) comes with free ScreenVue Vault access.

The ScreenVue Vault offers 14,000+ Movie Ideas, Movie Views and Downloads from a variety of movies and resources.

### CCLI

Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) was established in 1988 to provide churches with simple, affordable solutions to complex copyright issues. CCLI helps churches maintain their integrity while giving them the freedom to worship expressively and spontaneously.

Churches often face copyright infringement issues in two areas: 1) copying music without permission, and 2) showing movies without authorization.

For copying music to assist with congregational singing, the Church Copyright License provides blanket coverage for 600,000+ songs and 7,000+ publishers and song owners. Currently, global churches are using 600,000+ CCLI licenses.

### CVLI

From a unique partnership between Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC), Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and the Church Video License was formed in 2001.

The Church Video License provides churches with legal coverage to show thousands of movie titles and TV shows from a number of producers, including all the major studios. Currently, the titles from 4,000+ producers are represented by the Church Video License, including all the titles that  part of the ScreenVue Vault.

All such service providers are contractually required to keep your data safe, use it only for the purposes agreed, and delete it when it is no longer required. They have agreed not share it, nor use it for their marketing purposes.

## How We Use Cookies

__"Where can I find my Access Key to sign-in with?"__
- Every Church Video Licence globally and every *Total Producer Church Video License* (or *Standard CVLI Video License*) in the USA comes with FREE access to the ScreenVue Vault, which is unlocked with your Access Key. Your Access Key will be included in the monthly CVL update emails you receive. If you can't find your Key, please email us at: [support@screenvue.com ](mailto:support@screenvue.com "support@screenvue.com")

__"Why won't my Access Key work?"__
- The usual reason for the Access Key not to work (and a footer error message to appear) is that something is missing from the sign-in protocol.
- Enter the *Email address* associated with your Church Video License (or CCLI account).
- Enter the *Access Key* found in your last CVL update email (exactly, with no spaces).
- Select the *Terms of Use* and a *Keeping in Touch* option.
- You should be in! If you have done all this and still have a problem, please let us know and we'll dig further.

__"In the USA, why don't I have access as a CVL Family Values Package member?"__
- The *CVL Family Values Package* offers only 65+ studios and producers, and does not include any major/minor Hollywood studios - and does not come with ScreenVue Vault access. 
- The *CVL Total Producer Package* offers 4,000+ studios and producers, including every major Hollywood studio and most of the major/minors, and comes with complimentary access to the new ScreenVue Vault: unlocked with a provided Access Key.

__"What is the difference between Movie Ideas, Movie Views, and Downloads?"__
- The ScreenVue Vault offers THREE different types of content: 
- *Movie Ideas*: Has the "light-bulb icon," where you would use your own movie (Digital, Stream, Blu-ray, or DVD you already have access to) with our cues and details; as this idea is not available as a View or Download.

__"What are the restrictions for streaming our service and including movie content? "__
- For churches that stream their services and want to include movie content, the Church Video License terms do not cover streaming movie content - even if used in a sermon - over the internet to the general public.
- However, it is permissible to live stream movie content inside the facility as long as it is a closed-stream (not accessed publicly). 
- In light of COVID-19, the Church Video License has made temporary modifications to the license: For churches that stream their services and want to include movie content, they can use a platform that is gated or private (password protected entry to only members and guests and not open to the general public), such as Zoom (requiring a password to join).

__"Can content in the ScreenVue Vault be used with a Church Video Licence anywhere in the world?"__

Hitomi has hired Phillip to pretend to be her daughter's estranged father.  When young Mia is introduced to Phillip, she is angry.  She's never met her father and can't understand why he has never been in her life.  When Phillip hands her a present, she throws it back at him in disgust: "You can't bribe me!"  She runs away, Phillip chasing after her.  Finally, he catches her and tries to explain.  Mia: "You think you can just show up?"  Phillip tells the girl that Hitomi told him he is needed to get her into a good school.  Mia, pushing him: "That's the only reason why you're here?"  Phillip assures her that he has thought of her often and has wished for an opportunity to get to know her.  Mia, pushing him again: "Why did you leave us, then?"  Phillip: "Because I was stupid."  The little girl makes Phillip pinkie-promise to never leave her again.

Even though her mother has cancelled his contract, Phillip asks to see Mia.  Suspicious now that she knows Phillip is only an actor and never was her father: "Is my mom paying you?"  Phillip: "No.  But I asked her if I could visit you."  Mia: "Why are you here?"  Phillip: "I'm just here to talk."  Mia, still angry at the deception perpetrated by Phillip and her mother: "Why do adults always lie?"  Phillip: "It's because it's a lot easier than telling the truth.  Sometimes they lie to protect the people that they care about.  But your mom never wanted to hurt you."  Mia: "You hurt me too!  And you promised you wouldn't."  Phillip, chagrined: "I know.  And I'm sorry.  We should have been honest with you."  Mia: "It's not fair.  I liked you being my dad."  Phillip, honestly: "Me too."  Mia asks the actor his real name and he introduces himself.  Smiling, she offers her hand for a shake: "I'm Mia."


Aiko seethes over how Phillip nearly derailed their last job, her frustration sharpened by the sense that, as a foreigner, he still hasn’t grasped the nuances of Japanese culture. Phillip apologizes, earnest in his desire to do better, and asks her to help him understand—starting with why she cares so deeply about the work they do. She hesitates, then admits that in her job at a company that rents relationships, what moves her is the way clients look at her, as if she’s someone they’ve been waiting for their entire lives. Sometimes, she says, all a person needs is for someone to meet their gaze and remind them they exist.


Phillip arrives at work to find Tada sorting files in the back room, and Tada gently asks whether he might be getting too emotionally invested in his cases. Phillip brushes off the concern, but Tada goes on to tell him that Mia’s mother wants their next session to be the last. The news hits Phillip hard; he’s grown attached to the little girl he’s been pretending to father, and he can’t hide the hurt in his voice as he asks why. Tada explains that her mother fears Mia is becoming too attached to him. Phillip, stricken, asks what he’s supposed to tell her, and Tada instructs him to say he has to return to the States and that he’ll miss her. Phillip can’t believe it’s that simple, but Tada reminds him that this is how the business works—every relationship has to end. When Phillip asks what comes next, Tada tells him there’s always someone new, that he’ll get used to it, though Phillip’s expression makes it clear he doubts he ever will.

Phillip follows Kikuo to his ancestral home.  When the old man bows before yet another shrine, Phillip mutters: "Japan has more gods than vending machines."  Kikuo finishes his ritual then asks: "Have you hear the idea of 'Eight Million gods?'"  Phillip: "No."  Kikuo, looking around: "The sun, the land, the forest, the ocean.  It means God exists in all things.  God exists within us, too."  He bows once more before the shrine before leading Phillip away.


Phillip sits alone in his apartment, the quiet pressing in on him. Middle‑aged, single, and far from home, he often feels the weight of his loneliness most at night. With a beer in hand, he watches the glowing windows across the street, tipping his drink toward a couple who are also sharing one, pretending for a moment that they’re enjoying it together. Their laughter and dancing make him smile, and he lets his gaze drift to the other apartments: a businesswoman unwinding after a long day, an elderly man hanging laundry with slow, practiced movements, a young couple gently rocking their baby to sleep. He eats his dinner in the dark, watching these small, intimate moments of other people’s lives, longing for the human connection he can see so clearly yet feels so distant from.


Phillip is meeting with Tada for a job interview.  A struggling actor, Phillip isn't certain what Tada's business does: "You sell people?"  Tada explains what their relationship rental business is really for: "No.  We sell emotion.  We play roles in the clients' lives."  Phillip, an American, can't understand how a personal relationship could be replaced by an actor.  Tada tries to explain from a Japanese perspective: "You just have to help clients connect to what's missing.  Could be anybody from their life or a feeling they once had.  Parents, siblings, boyfriends, girlfriends, best friends.  We play it all."  When Phillip wonders why a therapist wouldn't work just as well, Tada informs him that mental health issues are somewhat stigmatized in Japan and so people with relational and emotional holes turn to rental relationships to fulfill their unmet needs.  


Phillip is interviewing a famous old Japanese actor.  He asks the man about his relationship with his daughter.  Kikuo: "Do you know what Masami used to call me when she was young?  The man on the screen."  Phillip: "Do you regret it?"  Kikuo: "Not at the time."  Kikuo obviously regrets it now.  Kikuo: "Do you have any children?"  Phillip: "I have a daughter."  Kikuo: "Are you close?"  Phillip: "No.  But I would like to be."  Kikuo, warning Phillip away from the mistakes he made: "While she's young, make sure to spend time with her."


Phillip, a hired actor, has no idea what he’s stepped into when he arrives at a job with zero explanation and suddenly finds himself in the middle of a funeral—one made even stranger by the fact that the “deceased” is very much alive, smiling up at everyone from inside his coffin. He listens in bewilderment as mourners tearfully profess their love and admiration, and, following their lead, he shuffles through the line to offer his own awkward final respects. From the background, Phillip watches the man in the coffin spring up afterward, still dressed in his afterlife attire, overflowing with gratitude as he thanks the rental‑company owner who supplied the mourners and orchestrated the entire event. Beaming, the man declares he’s never felt anything like this before, that the experience has made him feel as though he finally deserves to exist.
