ScreenVue is the result of a joint venture and partnership between Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC).

ScreenVue first launched in 2003 as a service of CVLI. The CVLI Church Video License provides legal coverage for churches and for other ministry organizations to show DVDs, Blu-rays, movie downloads and streams of motion pictures. Each organization needs to be specifically covered. Coverage includes playing just a few seconds of a movie all the way up to showing the full-length feature.

Each *Total Producer Church Video License* and *Standard CVLI Video License* (or any *Church Video Licence* globally) comes with free ScreenVue Vault access.

The ScreenVue Vault offers 11,000+ Scene Ideas and Downloads from a variety of movies and resources. 

ScreenVue saves you hours of time finding that perfect movie illustration for next Sunday’s sermon, child or youth service, or video announcement! 

All Scene Ideas (using your own copy or rental; via Blu-ray, DVD, streaming or download) include a scene summary, themes and time cues.

### CCLI

Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) was established in 1988 to provide churches with simple, affordable solutions to complex copyright issues. CCLI helps churches maintain their integrity while giving them the freedom to worship expressively and spontaneously.

Churches often face copyright infringement issues in two areas: 1) copying music without permission, and 2) showing movies without authorization.

For copying music to assist with congregational singing, the Church Copyright License provides blanket coverage for 300,000+ songs and 4,500+ publishers and song owners. Currently, global churches are using 600,000+ CCLI licenses.

### CVLI

From a unique partnership between Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC), Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and the Church Video License was formed in 2001.

The Church Video License provides churches with legal coverage to show all, or any portion of, thousands of movie titles from a number of movie producers, including all the major studios. Currently, the titles from almost 3,000 producers are represented by the Church Video License, including the titles that contain all the Scene Ideas and Scene Downloads that are part of the ScreenVue Vault.

## How We Use Cookies

- Every Church Video Licence globally and every *Total Producer Church Video License* (or *Standard CVLI Video License*) in the USA comes with FREE access to the ScreenVue Vault, which is unlocked with your Access Key. Your Access Key will be included in the monthly CVL update emails you receive. __"Why won't my Access Key work?"__
- The usual reason for the Access Key not to work (and a footer error message to appear) is that something is missing from the sign-in protocol.
- Enter the *Email address* associated with your Church Video License (or CCLI account).
- Enter the *Access Key* found in your last CVL update email (exactly, with no spaces).
- Select the *Terms of Use* and a *Keeping in Touch* option.
- You should be in! If you have done all this and still have a problem, please let us know and we'll dig further.

__"In the USA, why don't I have access as a CVL Family Values Package member?"__
- The *CVL Family Values Package* offers only 65+ studios and producers, and does not include any major/minor Hollywood studios - and does not come with ScreenVue Vault access. 
- The *CVL Total Producer Package* offers 4,000+ studios and producers, including every major Hollywood studio and most of the major/minors, and comes with complimentary access to the new ScreenVue Vault: unlocked with a provided Access Key.

- For churches that stream their services and want to include any part of a movie (the entire film or just a scene), the Church Video License terms do not cover streaming a movie scene - even if used in a sermon - over the internet to the general public.
- However, it is permissible to live stream a movie scene inside the facility as long as it is a closed-stream (not accessed publicly). 
- In light of COVID-19, the Church Video License has made temporary modifications to the license: For churches that stream their services and want to include any part of a movie, they can use a platform that is gated or private (password protected entry to only members and guests and not open to the general public), such as Zoom (requiring a password to join).

Young Sammy makes complex movies with his little sisters.


Sam’s mom graciously lets him borrow Dad’s camera to film his toy train crashing. But with a condition not to tell Dad, “It’ll be our secret movie, just yours and mine.”

Sammy premieres his film to the high school of the senior Ditch Day.


Sam has just opened his heart to his girlfriend, Monica.  He told her that he loved her, wanted to marry her, and asked her to move to Hollywood with him.  In addition, he had told her about the heavy emotional burden he carries because his parents are divorcing.  Instead of responding with compassion or reciprocating his love, Monica is breaking up with him.  Right there, on the dance floor, at their prom, Monica removes the gold cross necklace Sam had purchased for her and holds it out to him: "You can get a refund.  I hardly wore it at all."  Sam, looking devastated: "Are you breaking up with me?"  Monica, who obviously feels nothing deeply: "Not at prom, but of course, eventually."  Telling him he's a fun boy to kiss, the somewhat shallow girl promises to "pray on it."  Still smiling, she tells the brokenhearted boy: "Sometimes we can't fix things, Sam.  And all we can do..."  She smacks a hand firmly on his heart: "...is suffer."  She sighs dramatically before walking away.  


Sam’s father asks him to make a family movie to cheer up Sam’s mom (who recently lost her own mother). Sam is conflicted since the weekend is already scheduled to film his war movie.

The Fabelmans are in the hospital, visiting Mitzi's mother in her last hours of life.  Burt stares at the heart monitor, watching the blips on the screen.  Mitzi lies in the hospital bed, whispering tearfully to her unconscious mother.  The girls watch their mother cry and look afraid.  Sam stares at his grandmother's neck, watching her heart beat in her throat.  Suddenly, her throat is still.  Only Sam has seen.  Mitzi calls excitedly for the nurse, thinking it a good sign that her mother has opened her eyes.  She failed to notice the empty stare of the recently departed.  The nurse comes to the bed and shakes her head at Burt.  The heart monitor is silent.  Now Mitzi knows.  She begins to mourn.


Sam stands in Monica's bedroom.  Framed pictures of Jesus sit alongside photos of famous teen idols.  A large crucifix hangs over the bed, surrounded by a heart of red lights.  When Monica closes the bedroom door, Sam leans in for a kiss, but Monica stops him: "Let's pray."  She pulls him down to kneel in front of her.  Thinking she's going to convert the Jewish boy to Christianity (but misunderstanding what that means herself), Monica intends to show Sam what it means to ask Jesus into his heart.  She folds her hands piously and tells Sam to close his eyes.  Monica, praying: "Lord, I'm here with my good friend Sam, who's Jewish, and he's a nice boy."  She then grabs Sam's arm and forces it into making the sign of the cross.  Sam, utterly confused, is just along for the ride because she's cute.  Monica now directs Sam to pray the salvation prayer: "Ask."  Sam stares blankly at her.  Monica: "Ask him to come into you."  Sam, wanting only to please Monica: "Hi, there, Jesus.  It's me, Sam Fabelman.  If you're real, show me a sign or something..."  Monica interrupts: "No, wait.  You can't ask Jesus to do tricks to impress you.  You have to be humble.  You have to beg him to."  Monica demonstrates what she thinks is appropriate prayer: "I'm gonna beg the Holy Spirit to come into me."  She inhales deeply: "I'm gonna draw the Holy Spirit in with my breath..."  Sam jumps back, startled, as Monica suddenly yells: "Spirit, come into me!  Please, Holy Spirit, I'm begging you!  Come into us, Jesus!  Hear our prayer!"  She grabs Sam by the shoulders, ordering him to open his mouth: "Open your mouth and take the Spirit of Christ into you!"  Sam opens his mouth as Monica exhales what she thinks is the Holy Spirit into him.  Then, Monica kisses him.  Pulling away abruptly and smiling, she crosses herself, believing that Sam's conversion was successful. 


Sam stands in Monica's bedroom commenting on her “shrine to guys,” including framed pictures of Jesus. She says Jesus came to us as a handsome young man, similar to Sam—who is also Jewish.

Mitzi's children, frightened, tell her there is a tornado outside.  Disbelieving, Mitzi carries the baby outside to see.  She is immediately struck by a forceful wind.  The rest of the family follows fearfully.  Mitzi, however, laughs as she sees there really is a tornado coming.  The tell-tale funnel cloud is swirling over the houses, seemingly just on the other side of town.  Excited, Mitzi hands the baby to her husband and gathers the older children into the car: "Come on, let's go see!"  Burt is understandably worried, but Mitzi ignores him and drives after the tornado.  All along the streets, cars are pulled over to the side of the road, uncertain of what to do.  The tornado siren blares and the cloud is close enough for debris to be seen clearly swirling in the air.  The kids are frightened and Sam leans forward to ask his mom: "Is this safe?"  Mitzi dismisses his fears confidently: "Of course it's safe.  I'm your mother."  Just then, power lines in front of them send out a shower of sparks and flame over their car.  The girls scream.  Mitzi slams on her brakes, suddenly aware that she does not have the control she thought she had over the situation.  She and the children stare, open-mouthed, as a flock of shopping carts careens across the road directly in front of their car, carried by the gale-force winds.  They only missed being struck because Mitzi had stopped moving.  Mitzi closes her eyes and whispers to herself: "Everything happens for a reason.  Everything happens for a reason."  Feeling out of control in this and in her life, Mitzi tries desperately to feel peace in the storm.  She turns to her children, making them repeat after her: "Everything happens for a reason."


Burt and Mitzi are breaking the news to their children that they are getting a divorce.  The three girls are weeping and Burt looks at them tenderly: "Don't be scared."  Not wanting the children to know the real reason they are divorcing, Burt tells them: "Your mom misses Phoenix too much."  Natalie is devastated: "That's crazy!  You can't ruin everything because you miss one place!"  In reality, Mitzi is leaving Burt for his best friend, Bennie.  Mitzi wants them to know the truth and tells the children: "I miss Bennie too much."  Natalie, furious: "You love Bennie!"  Little Lisa: "Don't you love Daddy?"  Reggie, weeping, begs her parents: "Stay together!  You love each other and you love us!  And we don't want this!  We don't want to have to move back and forth and not live with both of you."  Mitzi, trembling with emotion, looks at her son, Sam, who sits in silence at the back of the room.  Natalie stands up and crosses to her mother, shouting at her for breaking up the family.  Burt tries to comfort her, but there is no comfort.  The sounds fade away for Sam as he sees himself in his mind holding a video camera and recording his family.  The camera, for him, is a way to protect himself, to observe but not participate in difficult circumstances.  With the camera, he can distance himself from his pain.


Mitzi is divorcing her husband of many years in order to marry her "true love," Bennie.  She tries to explain to her oldest son why she is making this choice: "I'm doing this thing.  And I don't know if it's the right thing, but it's a life-and-death thing for me.  And I'm sorry, but everybody else is gonna have to hang on for dear life.  And somehow, we will survive this, all of us.  Even your father, who I adore with all my heart.  He deserves so much better than what I'm doing, but Bennie needs me, dolly."  She sighs, smiling wistfully at her son: "And I need him.  So much so that, without him, I'm turning into someone I don't know, and none of you will know me anymore.  Yes, this is the most selfish thing I have ever done, but I've got to do this now because, Sammy..."  She pauses for a moment to put her hand on her son and look earnestly into his face: "You do what your heart says you have to, 'cause you don't owe anyone your life."

Enthusiastically, Sam shows Uncle Boris the plans for his war movie.  He admits that he would rather work on his movie than on the project his father has given him.  Boris tells Sam that it is because his mother is grieving that his father has asked for the favor.  But he understands why Sam is reluctant to let anything come between him and his project.  He himself is a performance artist.   Boris: "Believe me, Sammy Boy, I get it."  He crosses one arm over the other before wrenching them apart with a grunt: "Family.  Art.  It'll tear you in two..."  Boris continues, telling Sam that Mitzi could have done anything with her talent: "What she got in her heart is what you got, what I got.  Art.  We're junkies.  And art is our drug.  Family, we love.  But art...we're meshuga for art."  His passion for his art led Boris to leave his family behind and join the circus.  Sam: "Putting your head in a lion's mouth is art?"  Boris, laughing: "No!  Sticking your head in the mouths of lions was balls.  Making sure the lion don't eat my head, that is art."  Boris tells Sam that Tina, Mitzi's mother, held her back from her art because she wanted a safe life for her little girl: "So, Mitzi, she gave it all up."  Boris squeezes Sam's face so hard he squeals in pain: "I want you should remember how that hurt."  Boris points to Sam's movie equipment, telling the boy that when people ask him why he would devote himself to something that's only a "hobby," that Sam should remember the pain of that moment and know why he is living for his passion.  Boris, excitedly: "Because you're going to join the circus.  I can tell."  (Caution: s-word, G**-d*** used)

Chad approaches Sam in the locker room after gym class: "Hey, new kid, what's your name?"  Sam quietly answers.  When Chad hears Sam's obviously Jewish last name, he sneers at Logan: "Told you, he's a kike."  Logan, to Sam: "He doesn't like Jews."  Chad, laughing: "Nobody likes Jews."  Logan: "Except other Jews, right?"  Chad: "So, Bagelman..."  Sam: "No, that's not my name.  Don't call me that."  Chad, continuing as if Sam hadn't spoken, accuses Sam of giving the obviously healthy Logan a concussion during gym class.  Sam denies it, but Chad is just looking for an excuse to persecute the boy.  He pushes him down onto the bench: "Don't argue with me.  So, how do we make you pay?"  While Logan and the other boys laugh, Chad invents a scenario where he sneaks up behind Sam and pushes his face into the drinking fountain, shattering his teeth.  Sam cowers in a self-protective huddle.  Logan, laughing, tells Sam to watch out for himself.  The bell rings and the boys leave the locker room.  Sam looks terrified.


Tina has died (see clip # CV11406).  Her estranged brother, Boris, has come to visit the Fabelmans as they mourn their loss.  Boris is talking to Sam, who shares his bedroom with him, when he is struck suddenly by his memories of his lost sister.  He begins to weep: "Oh, Tini!  Oh Tini!"  He rips his shirt apart, frightening Sam, who has never before seen traditional Jewish grief.  Sam, rushing to Boris: "Stop!  Stop!"  Boris, whose tears miraculously disappear, looks mildly disgusted.  He blows a raspberry: "What?  You never saw nobody grieving before?"  The old man starts to make himself an uncomfortable-looking bed on the floor.  Sam, protesting: "You can sleep in the bed.  I have my sleeping bag."  But Boris knows that grief must bring discomfort: "I'm sitting shiva for my sister.  I sleep on the floor.  You want to sleep on the floor, too?  She was your grandma.  Tear your clothes.  Sleep on the floor."  Sam half-heartedly tears a bit from the pocket of his pajama shirt.
