ScreenVue is the result of a joint venture and partnership between Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC).

ScreenVue first launched in 2003 as a service of CVLI. The CVLI Church Video License provides legal coverage for churches and for other ministry organizations to show DVDs, Blu-rays, movie downloads and streams of motion pictures. Each organization needs to be specifically covered. Coverage includes playing just a few seconds of a movie all the way up to showing the full-length feature.

Each *Total Producer Church Video License* and *Standard CVLI Video License* (or any *Church Video Licence* globally) comes with free ScreenVue Vault access.

The ScreenVue Vault offers 11,000+ Scene Ideas and Downloads from a variety of movies and resources. 

ScreenVue saves you hours of time finding that perfect movie illustration for next Sunday’s sermon, child or youth service, or video announcement!

### CCLI

Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) was established in 1988 to provide churches with simple, affordable solutions to complex copyright issues. CCLI helps churches maintain their integrity while giving them the freedom to worship expressively and spontaneously.

Churches often face copyright infringement issues in two areas: 1) copying music without permission, and 2) showing movies without authorization.

For copying music to assist with congregational singing, the Church Copyright License provides blanket coverage for 300,000+ songs and 4,500+ publishers and song owners. Currently, global churches are using 600,000+ CCLI licenses.

### CVLI

From a unique partnership between Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC), Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and the Church Video License was formed in 2001.

The Church Video License provides churches with legal coverage to show all, or any portion of, thousands of movie titles from a number of movie producers, including all the major studios. Currently, the titles from almost 3,000 producers are represented by the Church Video License, including the titles that contain all the Scene Ideas and Scene Downloads that are part of the ScreenVue Vault.

__"Where can I find my Access Key to sign-in with?"__
- Every Church Video Licence globally and every *Total Producer Church Video License* (or *Standard CVLI Video License*) in the USA comes with FREE access to the ScreenVue Vault, which is unlocked with your Access Key. Your Access Key will be included in the monthly CVL update emails you receive. __"Why won't my Access Key work?"__
- The usual reason for the Access Key not to work (and a footer error message to appear) is that something is missing from the sign-in protocol.
- Enter the *Email address* associated with your Church Video License (or CCLI account).
- Enter the *Access Key* found in your last CVL update email (exactly, with no spaces).
- Select the *Terms of Use* and a *Keeping in Touch* option.
- You should be in! If you have done all this and still have a problem, please let us know and we'll dig further.

__"In the USA, why don't I have access as a CVL Family Values Package member?"__
- The *CVL Family Values Package* offers only 65+ studios and producers, and does not include any major/minor Hollywood studios - and does not come with ScreenVue Vault access.

__"What are the restrictions for streaming our service and including a movie scene? "__
- For churches that stream their services and want to include any part of a movie (the entire film or just a scene), the Church Video License terms do not cover streaming a movie scene - even if used in a sermon - over the internet to the general public.
- However, it is permissible to live stream a movie scene inside the facility as long as it is a closed-stream (not accessed publicly). 
- In light of COVID-19, the Church Video License has made temporary modifications to the license: For churches that stream their services and want to include any part of a movie, they can use a platform that is gated or private (password protected entry to only members and guests and not open to the general public), such as Zoom (requiring a password to join).

The first woman sings gratingly, sometimes off-key and often harshly.  Joseph quietly stops her, offering some advice: "Try to be more delicate.  Imagine you are a flower.  A soft, quiet flower."  But none of them seem to understand what delicate means.  One woman tries to comply by singing feebly, almost half-heartedly.  Joseph: "More passion!"  Another woman hears that directive and begins to belt out the opera in a near-scream.  Joseph: "Less passion!"  The same woman, hardly adjusting her tone at all, continues to screech off-key.  Joseph, thoroughly disheartened, dismisses the applicants.  Madame De Genlis, frustrated, sighs heavily.

Joseph has boldly interrupted one of the great Mozart's performances to ask if he can play along.  Unable to do anything else in front of a room full of observers, Mozart has reluctantly agreed.  But, he clearly expects Joseph to fall on his face: "I assume you know this piece?  Well, I hope this won't be embarrassing for you."  Mozart directs his orchestra to begin playing.  Mozart lifts his violin and, staring at Joseph condescendingly, begins to play.  When Joseph joins in and is immediately seen to be good, Mozart is at first surprised.  But, soon, as Joseph adds more flourishes to the song, Mozart becomes very obviously annoyed.  They begin a silent war.  One will hold his note just a bit longer, another will inject a trill, and both are trying to prove they are the greater performer.  Finally, Mozart gets so irritated, he stops the orchestra and restarts at his most challenging part, assuming there is no way Joseph could play it.  Not only does Joseph play it, he plays it better, finishing with a thrust of the bow that seems a not-so-subtle strike at Mozart.  Mozart parries with another challenging part.  Joseph leaps from the stage and begins to play to the awed audience.  As overcome ladies fan themselves, Joseph takes the violin to places no one has heard before.  It is so inspiring that the orchestra joins in, without Mozart's direction.  And, together, Joseph and the orchestra finish the piece while Mozart looks on, furious.  The audience bursts into applause.


Nanon confronts Joseph as he sits alone in his drawing room, staring at the fire.  She tells him how the people have missed his music, but he is too depressed to care.  Since he lost the position he coveted and his favor at court, Joseph has been consumed by self pity.  Nanon is tired of it: "Enough!  Enough wallowing.  It is pathetic."  Joseph, cynically: "Seems fitting of me."  Nanon raises her eyebrows, looking at her son as only a mother can: "Mmm.  You've let these rich, white people soften you.  Uh-uh.  Get up.  Come with me."  Nanon takes him to the streets of their native community within Paris.  The people have gathered to dance and play music together.  Nanon directs a somewhat pouting Joseph towards a group of men who are playing the drums: "Go and play."  The music is upbeat and the people are smiling.  And, when Joseph sits down to play with them, he cannot help but feel better.  The music speaks to his soul in a way words cannot.  And the fellowship of his community lifts his heart.  Soon, he is playing both expertly and enthusiastically.  Despite himself, he begins to smile.


Joseph's father leads him into one of the most exclusive boarding schools in Paris.  As they walk through the halls, they pass by students, all white, who openly stare at the young black boy.  When they meet with the headmaster in his office, they are told that the school is not for them.  The headmaster doesn't want the illegitimate son of a black slave in his school, no matter how much George would pay.  George, undeterred: "He's gifted.  Such gifts should not be allowed to languish on a plantation."  Headmaster, looking skeptical: "Gifts?"  George: "Talents.  The boy has many, but one in particular that is exceptional.  That is what you claim to nurture here, is it not?"  The headmaster reluctantly agrees to a demonstration.  Joseph lifts his violin and begins to play beautifully and expertly.  The headmaster is stunned into silence.  Soon, George is leaving his son at the door: "Joseph, this is your home now.  This place may not be immediately welcoming to you, boy.  But, you must be excellent.  Always excellent.  Do not give anyone any reason to tear you down.  Remember, no one may tear down an excellent Frenchman."  (Caution: b-word)


Joseph has come to meet with the Marquis De Montalembert, the Queen's top military engineer.  As they walk around Montalembert's massive estate, Joseph remarks: "I understand the Queen keeps your calendar busy."  Montalembert: "I fought for this country in the Rhine, in Italy, in Bohemia.  It is my God-given purpose to defend this country from all its enemies.  Even from enemies at home."  Montalembert refers to the Frenchmen who are stirring up the rebellion that will soon light their country on fire.  Montalembert: "Their lot's more terrifying than any Bohemian or Italian."  Joseph: "Surely they're not a genuine threat?"  Montalembert: "If only that were so.  I have designed many a fortress.  It is a precise science, keeping your enemies out.  But, what does one do when the enemy is not found outside the fortress?  What to do when the enemy was within the fortress all along?"


Marie-Josephine walks into the room as Joseph is practicing a song.  He plays beautifully.  As the song ends, Marie approaches: "A new composition?"  Joseph: "Just something to help quiet the mind."  Marie: "And, what is on your mind?"  Joseph, thinking ahead to the competition for director of the opera house: "Victory."  Marie: "Were you always so competitive, even as a child?"  Joseph: "When I was very young, my father took me from the only home I knew.  He took me from my mother.  'Always be excellent.  No one may tear down an excellent Frenchman.'  That's what my father said.  (See clip # CV11526)  And, when no one came for me, I thought it was because I wasn't good enough to be reclaimed.  You know something?  My father was right.  The more I excelled, the more people loved me.  The more I excelled, the less I was alone."

Joseph, grieving over the murder of his baby boy, wonders aloud at the injustice of a world where some have choice and others have none.  He knows his mother will understand - - a slave woman whose only son was wrenched from her arms and sent to another land.  Mother: "Choice.  This world is painful for us.  It is full of wickedness.  It is full of lies.  It is how they designed it for us.  They take us from our homes.  They sell us like goods.  They harm our bodies.  Evil.  But the greatest evil is not what they have done to our bodies.  It is what they have done to our minds."  She remembers the day Joseph was taken from her, and how she fought to try to get her son back.  Mother: "I chose to fight for you, my son.  And now, I am here.  The greatest evil is convincing us that we have no choice.  But choice cannot be taken away.  Choice comes from within.  And there is always the choice to fight."
