ScreenVue is the result of a joint venture and partnership between Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC).

ScreenVue first launched in 2003 as a service of CVLI. The CVLI Church Video License provides legal coverage for churches and for other ministry organizations to show DVDs, Blu-rays, movie downloads and streams of motion pictures. Each organization needs to be specifically covered. Coverage includes playing just a few seconds of a movie all the way up to showing the full-length feature.

Each *Total Producer Church Video License* and *Standard CVLI Video License* (or any *Church Video Licence* globally) comes with free ScreenVue Vault access.

The ScreenVue Vault offers 11,000+ Scene Ideas and Downloads from a variety of movies and resources. 

ScreenVue saves you hours of time finding that perfect movie illustration for next Sunday’s sermon, child or youth service, or video announcement! 

All Scene Ideas (using your own copy or rental; via Blu-ray, DVD, streaming or download) include a scene summary, themes and time cues.

### CCLI

Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) was established in 1988 to provide churches with simple, affordable solutions to complex copyright issues. CCLI helps churches maintain their integrity while giving them the freedom to worship expressively and spontaneously.

Churches often face copyright infringement issues in two areas: 1) copying music without permission, and 2) showing movies without authorization.

For copying music to assist with congregational singing, the Church Copyright License provides blanket coverage for 300,000+ songs and 4,500+ publishers and song owners. Currently, global churches are using 600,000+ CCLI licenses.

### CVLI

From a unique partnership between Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC), Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and the Church Video License was formed in 2001.

The Church Video License provides churches with legal coverage to show all, or any portion of, thousands of movie titles from a number of movie producers, including all the major studios. Currently, the titles from almost 3,000 producers are represented by the Church Video License, including the titles that contain all the Scene Ideas and Scene Downloads that are part of the ScreenVue Vault.

## How We Use Cookies

- Every Church Video Licence globally and every *Total Producer Church Video License* (or *Standard CVLI Video License*) in the USA comes with FREE access to the ScreenVue Vault, which is unlocked with your Access Key. Your Access Key will be included in the monthly CVL update emails you receive. __"Why won't my Access Key work?"__
- The usual reason for the Access Key not to work (and a footer error message to appear) is that something is missing from the sign-in protocol.
- Enter the *Email address* associated with your Church Video License (or CCLI account).
- Enter the *Access Key* found in your last CVL update email (exactly, with no spaces).
- Select the *Terms of Use* and a *Keeping in Touch* option.
- You should be in! If you have done all this and still have a problem, please let us know and we'll dig further.

__"In the USA, why don't I have access as a CVL Family Values Package member?"__
- The *CVL Family Values Package* offers only 65+ studios and producers, and does not include any major/minor Hollywood studios - and does not come with ScreenVue Vault access. 
- The *CVL Total Producer Package* offers 4,000+ studios and producers, including every major Hollywood studio and most of the major/minors, and comes with complimentary access to the new ScreenVue Vault: unlocked with a provided Access Key.

- For churches that stream their services and want to include any part of a movie (the entire film or just a scene), the Church Video License terms do not cover streaming a movie scene - even if used in a sermon - over the internet to the general public.
- However, it is permissible to live stream a movie scene inside the facility as long as it is a closed-stream (not accessed publicly). 
- In light of COVID-19, the Church Video License has made temporary modifications to the license: For churches that stream their services and want to include any part of a movie, they can use a platform that is gated or private (password protected entry to only members and guests and not open to the general public), such as Zoom (requiring a password to join).

A boy in the late 1960s sits down to watch the brand new television show, Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood.   Max, a biographer of Fred Rogers' life: "A neighborhood was a place where, at times that you felt worried, scared, unsafe, would take care of you, would provide understanding, safety.  That's what the neighborhood was for Fred."   In an interview, Fred Rogers himself tells of his vision for creating the neighborhood-themed focus of his show: "Television has the opportunity of building a real community out of an entire country."   Junlei, Director of the Fred Rogers Center, further explains that a community, while wonderful, is filled with real people: "The neighborhood is not a fantasy place where all these different people got together, and everything was happily ever after.  When you have diverse people together with their different opinions, you have conflict.  And that's what happens in the neighborhood.  You have conflict.  Real conflict."

Old footage shows Fred Rogers playing the piano with children laughing and playing all around him.   His friend and pastor, George Wirth, speaking to an interviewer about Fred: "There was a whole spiritual dimension to his work in the television business, to be inclusive.  He did this without ever identifying himself as a minister.  He didn't wear a collar.  He wore a sweater.  And he preached in that context in a way more effective than anyone I've ever seen, because it wasn't a sermon like an oratorical thing.  It was a communication right into their hearts."  Max, a biographer, tells how Fred's faith directed his life: "He was a life-long registered Republican, and if you look at the values that Mr. Rogers represented, it's influenced by his faith.  His Christianity was this kind of wide open Christianity that was accepting thinking from all other places, while never departing from the Christian faith."   Old footage shows a smiling Fred in church, shaking hands with other church members.   George Wirth: "Fred's theology was love your neighbor and love yourself.  And he saw that communication as the most deeply spiritual thing that he could be doing."   An old interview of Fred himself shows how he tried to communicate love to the individual through the television: "When I look at the camera, I think of one person.  Not any specific person, but one person.  It's very, very personal.  The space between the television screen and whoever happens to be receiving it, I consider very holy ground."

A series of fast-paced cartoons from the 1970s and 1980s plays onscreen.  Max, narrating: "Remember what was happening to children's television.  It was speeding up.  Fred was pretty radical for television in that day in that he used time totally differently."   Footage from an episode of the show shows Fred kneeling down and placing a turtle on the floor, then quietly watching it move.  Friend: "To Fred, silence was his delight."   Another scene shows Fred silently stacking cups to see what he could build.  He smiles.  Another scene shows him peeling an apple.  Producer, recalling one particular show: "Fred took an egg timer and said, 'You want to know how long a minute is?  There.  We're going to show you.'  And we just sat there.  For the whole minute."   Footage of the episode shows Fred and another character silently watching a timer go down.  Another scene shows Fred smiling, quietly feeding fish.  David: "There's a lot of slow space.  There's no wasted space."   Another scene shows Fred teaching children to slowly breathe, in and out.  Another shows him feeding baby chicks.  Fred, himself: "I think silence is one of the greatest gifts that we have."

An episode of the show shows Fred cooling his feet in a kiddie pool when "Officer" Clemmons, a black man, comes to join him.  The show, airing in 1969, came during a time of racial conflict in the United States.  Clemmons, in present day, describes the tension of the time: "Around the country, they didn't want black people to come and swim in their swimming pools.  And Fred said, 'That is absolutely ridiculous.'"  News footage from 1969 shows a hotel swimming pool, filled with white and black people swimming together.  The hotel manager, irate, storms to the pool and begins to pour gallons of chlorine directly in the water with the people, trying to force them out of the pool.   Clemmons: "My being on the program was a statement for Fred."  Back on the show, the camera pans in for a close-up view of the kiddie pool.  A pair of white feet and a pair of black feet share the water.  Fred looks up, smiling directly at the camera.

An old episode of the show plays, showing "Officer" Clemmons cooling his feet in a kiddie pool with Mr. Rogers.  In present day, Clemmons is being interviewed as to his relationship with Rogers.   Clemmons: "On the show, he used to say, 'I love you just the way you are.'  One day, I said, 'Fred!  Were you talking to ME?'  And he looked at me and he said, 'Yes, I've been talking to you for two years and you finally heard me today!'  And I just collapsed into his arms.  I was...I started crying.  That's when I knew that I loved him."   Clemmons, emotionally: "No man had ever told me that he loved me like that.  I needed to hear it all my life.  My dad never told me.  My stepfather never told me.  So, from then on, he became my surrogate father."   On the show, Fred turns to Clemmons: "I'm so proud of you, Francois."  He bends down, helping to dry Francois' feet.

Mr. Rogers, in a television interview, challenges people to make the world better:  "Let's take the gauntlet and make goodness attractive in this so-called next millennium.  That's the real job that we have.  I'm not talking about Pollyana-ish kind of stuff.  I'm talking about down-to-earth actual goodness.  People caring for each other in a myriad of ways, rather than people knocking each other off all the time.  I don't find that funny at all."

A man on television communicates what some critics had to say about Mr. Rogers: "...the narcissistic society that he created because he told every kid that they were important." 
 Junlei, Director of the Fred Rogers Center, explains: "The criticism goes like this...'You told everyone they're special.  They don't have to do anything to earn that special.  That's what's wrong with children today.'" 
 Television interviewer, continuing: "He didn't say, 'If you want to be special, you're gonna have to work hard.'  And now, all these kids are growing up and they're realizing, 'Hey, wait a minute.  Mr. Rogers lied to me.  I'm not special.'"  
 Junlei: "I'm sure by then Fred had heard the criticisms, but he's not talking about entitlement.  And if you don't believe that everyone has inherent value, you might as well go against the fundamental notion of Christianity...that you are the beloved son or daughter of God."  
 Footage shows an adult fan meeting Mr. Rogers in person and thanking him for influencing her life.  
 Junlei: "At the very end of Fred's very last commencement speech, he said what he meant when he said, 'You're special.'"  
 Footage shows Fred giving the speech: "And what that ultimately means, of course, is that you never have to do anything sensational for people to love you."  
 Junlei: "It is really a matter of believing that you are endowed by your Creator with good."

Fred Rogers addresses the nation through the television screen: "No matter what our particular job, especially in our world today, we all are called to be tikkun olam (Hebrew phrase for 'repairing the world'), repairers of Creation.  Thank you for whatever you do, wherever you are, to bring joy and light and hope and faith and pardon and love to your neighbor and to yourself."

  Fred, thinking: "Well, I suppose it's an invitation.  Won't you be my neighbor?  It's an invitation for somebody to be close to you.  I think everybody longs to be loved and longs to know that he or she is loveable.  And, consequently, the greatest thing we can do is to help somebody know that they are loved and capable of loving."

Footage is shown of Fred Rogers giving a commencement speech to a group of graduating students.  While his words play in the background, a number of people are asked to really think about what he is saying.  
 Fred: "From the time you were very little, you've had people who have smiled you into smiling.  People who have talked you into talking.  Sung you into singing.  Loved you into loving."  
 A close friend of Fred's tells how he used to challenge his audience:  "Now, think about somebody who's helped you along the way, for one minute.  I'm going to time you."  
 The camera shows face after face, people from Fred's life, who were impacted greatly by someone in their lives.  Some faces look pensive.  Some are tearful.  Others smile.  
 Fred, continuing: "Let's just take some time to think of those extra special people.  Some of them may be right here.  Some may be far away.  Some may even be in heaven.  No matter where they are, deep down, you've known they've always wanted what was best for you.  They've always cared about you beyond measure, and have encouraged you to be true to the best within you."  
 One-by-one, the people begin to share who they thought of. 
 Junlei, smiling: "My mother."  
 Man: "How I got to this point, because it was my grandfather's doing." 
 Margy: "There was this woman named Viola..."
