Director:Phillip Telfer, Colin Gunn

Actors:Dr. Jeff Myers, Mark Bauerlein, Bob Waliszewski, Dr. Ted Baehr, Dr. David Walsh

Plot:Have we entered a techno utopia or a virtual prison? Should we be celebrating unreservedly or should we be cautious and skeptical? Media and clinical experts address the unique media challenges we face today.

Scene #4  Humans can't really multitask (The Titanic!)  (SV01974)

Another concern that many are raising, with regard to media and technology, is the subject of multitasking.    Dr. Walsh: "Kids are absolutely convinced that they can multitask. Young kids tell me, 'You may not be able to multitask, Dr. Walsh, because you're an old guy, but we can do it because we've been raised with it.' "    Untrue. Also, the sinking of the Titanic is discussed as an example of consequences versus the benefits of technology.
