ScreenVue is the result of a joint venture and partnership between Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC).

ScreenVue first launched in 2003 as a service of CVLI. The CVLI Church Video License provides legal coverage for churches and for other ministry organizations to show DVDs, Blu-rays, digital, movie downloads and streams of motion pictures. Each organization needs to be specifically covered. Coverage includes showing the full-length feature.

Each *Total Producer Church Video License* (or any *Church Video Licence* globally) comes with free ScreenVue Vault access.

The ScreenVue Vault offers 14,000+ Movie Ideas, Movie Views and Downloads from a variety of movies and resources.

### CCLI

Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) was established in 1988 to provide churches with simple, affordable solutions to complex copyright issues. CCLI helps churches maintain their integrity while giving them the freedom to worship expressively and spontaneously.

Churches often face copyright infringement issues in two areas: 1) copying music without permission, and 2) showing movies without authorization.

For copying music to assist with congregational singing, the Church Copyright License provides blanket coverage for 600,000+ songs and 7,000+ publishers and song owners. Currently, global churches are using 600,000+ CCLI licenses.

### CVLI

From a unique partnership between Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC), Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and the Church Video License was formed in 2001.

The Church Video License provides churches with legal coverage to show thousands of movie titles and TV shows from a number of producers, including all the major studios. Currently, the titles from 4,000+ producers are represented by the Church Video License, including all the titles that  part of the ScreenVue Vault.

All such service providers are contractually required to keep your data safe, use it only for the purposes agreed, and delete it when it is no longer required. They have agreed not share it, nor use it for their marketing purposes.

## How We Use Cookies

__"Where can I find my Access Key to sign-in with?"__
- Every Church Video Licence globally and every *Total Producer Church Video License* (or *Standard CVLI Video License*) in the USA comes with FREE access to the ScreenVue Vault, which is unlocked with your Access Key. Your Access Key will be included in the monthly CVL update emails you receive. If you can't find your Key, please email us at: [support@screenvue.com ](mailto:support@screenvue.com "support@screenvue.com")

__"Why won't my Access Key work?"__
- The usual reason for the Access Key not to work (and a footer error message to appear) is that something is missing from the sign-in protocol.
- Enter the *Email address* associated with your Church Video License (or CCLI account).
- Enter the *Access Key* found in your last CVL update email (exactly, with no spaces).
- Select the *Terms of Use* and a *Keeping in Touch* option.
- You should be in! If you have done all this and still have a problem, please let us know and we'll dig further.

__"In the USA, why don't I have access as a CVL Family Values Package member?"__
- The *CVL Family Values Package* offers only 65+ studios and producers, and does not include any major/minor Hollywood studios - and does not come with ScreenVue Vault access. 
- The *CVL Total Producer Package* offers 4,000+ studios and producers, including every major Hollywood studio and most of the major/minors, and comes with complimentary access to the new ScreenVue Vault: unlocked with a provided Access Key.

__"What is the difference between Movie Ideas, Movie Views, and Downloads?"__
- The ScreenVue Vault offers THREE different types of content: 
- *Movie Ideas*: Has the "light-bulb icon," where you would use your own movie (Digital, Stream, Blu-ray, or DVD you already have access to) with our cues and details; as this idea is not available as a View or Download.

__"What are the restrictions for streaming our service and including movie content? "__
- For churches that stream their services and want to include movie content, the Church Video License terms do not cover streaming movie content - even if used in a sermon - over the internet to the general public.
- However, it is permissible to live stream movie content inside the facility as long as it is a closed-stream (not accessed publicly). 
- In light of COVID-19, the Church Video License has made temporary modifications to the license: For churches that stream their services and want to include movie content, they can use a platform that is gated or private (password protected entry to only members and guests and not open to the general public), such as Zoom (requiring a password to join).

__"Can content in the ScreenVue Vault be used with a Church Video Licence anywhere in the world?"__

Elizabeth has just told the priest that her child's name will be John.  The priest protests, causing Zechariah to write on his tablet.  The scene moves ahead many years, to when Abner approaches Jesus, who is praying.  Back in the past, Zechariah shows the priest his words: "His name is John."  As soon as he does this, his voice returns to him and Zechariah begins to praise God.  Elizabeth, smiling, hands baby John to his father.  Again in the future, the executioners prepare to behead John.  John turns his head to look out of the window of his prison.  He sees a beautiful, sun-kissed field.  A lamb stands in the field, grazing.  The lamb looks back at John for a moment, at the same time a rainbow appears reflected on the grass.  John, whispering: "Thank You."  The executioner swings his axe.  Some distance away, Jesus has just heard Abner's news of John's death.  He tears his clothing and mourns.

Jesus is speaking alone with Lazarus, after having raised from the dead (see clip # CV11913).  Jesus talks of His own humanity and His very human feelings.  He feels frustration that His followers are so slow to learn.  He feels anger that the religious leaders twist true faith in God.  And, He feels dread for His coming suffering: "The cup I must drink to fulfill my Father's will."  Lazarus doesn't want to hear that Jesus will suffer.  Jesus: "The Son of Man must suffer many things.  The prophet Isaiah gave you many warnings."  Lazarus, heavily: "Yes.  Yes.  'He was despised and rejected by men.  A man of sorrows, acquainted with grief.'  They were just words on a scroll.  Now that they are about You...it's another story."  Jesus, gravely: "A story nearing its end."

Nicodemus sits at his dressing table, too disturbed by his failure with Lilith (see clip #CV11459) to get ready for dinner.  His wife, Zohara, scurries around the room, busy with thoughts of their important evening.  But Nicodemus is suddenly discontent with the superficiality of his role as spiritual leader: "When did Shabbat become theater?"  Zohara, however, enjoys her position as wife of a respected Teacher of Israel.  She admonishes her husband: "You do not have questions.  You have answers.  You have authority.  You bring clarity, not confusion."  Nicodemus asks his wife to look in the small mirror on his dressing table.  The mirror is warped and gives only a distorted reflection.  Zohara: "It is a cheap glass.  I can barely make out anything at all."  Nicodemus: "Sometimes...I wonder if what we can know of Adonai in the law...it's just as blurred.  What if we're not seeing the whole picture?  What if it's more beautiful and more strange than we can ever imagine?"  Zohara, dismissively: "That is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard.  It might even be blasphemy."  Nicodemus, sighing: "It was just a thought." (Season 1, Episode 1)

James and John are standing with Jesus when a group of Samaritans throw stones at them.  The brothers angrily lunge at the men, but Jesus stops them, telling them not to act or speak in return.  But, when one of the Samaritans spits on John, his temper boils: "You filthy dogs!"  Jesus rebukes him: "I said, quiet!"  When the men leave, the brothers beg Jesus to let them avenge His honor: "They reviled and humiliated You!  They deserve to have bolts of lightning rain down and incinerate them!  Yes, fire from the heavens!"  Jesus: "Fire?"  John: "You said we could do things like that!  Say the word and it will happen!" James regrets coming to Samaria at all: "They don't deserve You."   In response, Jesus asks the brothers why He had them plow the field of a Samaritan.  James and John don't have a clue.  Jesus tells them that the work they are doing is sowing seeds that will last generations: "These people that you hate so much are believing in Me without even seeing miracles.  It's the truth that we're giving them.  And you're going to get in the way of that because a few people from a region you don't like are mean to you?  That they are not worthy?  What, you're so much better?  That you're more worthy?  Well, let me tell you something, you're not!  That's the whole point!  It's why I'm here."  The brothers look appropriately chastised.  They hang their heads and apologize.  Jesus, softening his voice: "As we gather others, I need you to help show the way, to be humble."  The brothers promise.  Laughing, Jesus gives them the name Sons of Thunder.

Set just days before Jesus’ crucifixion, this moment draws a powerful parallel to His birth. Jerusalem is overflowing with travelers, echoing Bethlehem’s crowded streets. Amid the bustle, a young couple preparing for marriage evokes Mary and Joseph — symbols of hope and new beginnings. But this time, the arrival of the King is different. No stable. No rejection. Instead of being turned away, Jesus is welcomed with open arms. The humility of His entrance remains, but the response is transformed: warmth replaces indifference, and reverence replaces confusion. It’s a quiet yet profound reversal — the world that once had no room for Him now embraces Him, if only for a fleeting moment before the storm...


Jesus has sent Zee and Matthew to get a donkey's colt for Him to ride into Jerusalem.  They have found the colt described, one who has never been ridden, and are busy untying it when a servant confronts them.  Servant: "You're taking my master's colt?"  Matthew, giving the answer Jesus told them to say: "The Lord has need of it."  The servant still protests: "What is this all about?"  Zee, firmly: "The Lord has need of this."  The servant looks impressed: "Are you followers of the Nazarene that raised Lazarus?"  Zee nods: "Do you know the prophets?  From Zechariah, 'Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion.  Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem.  Your King is coming to you.  Righteous and having salvation is He, humble and mounted on a donkey."  Servant, finishing the quote: "On a colt, the foal of a donkey."  Servant, astonished: "This colt?  Today?  What are you waiting for?"  He joyfully gives them the donkey.

A crowd has gathered on the hillside to listen to Jesus speak.  Jesus: "You have heard it said, you shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.  But I say, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.  For if you love only those who love you, what reward is there in that?"


Jesus and His disciples are walking along the road when Jesus is suddenly hungry.  Spotting a fig tree full of green leaves (which are usually a sign of fruit), Jesus approaches the tree.  He looks all through the leaves and finds no figs.  The tree had the appearance of health and vitality, but no worthwhile fruit.  Jesus, in a scene representing the spiritual deadness of Israel, curses the barren fig tree: "May no fruit ever come from you again!"

Jesus is preparing to give the Sermon on the Mount.  He is speaking with His disciples beforehand, telling them why He has chosen to speak to the people.  He tells them it isn't to make their presence felt in the region, or about the details of how it's going to happen.  Jesus: "What makes this sermon so important is each person who will be there.  Philip, what makes John's sermons so memorable?"  Philip, joking: "His volume."  Jesus laughs as Philip continues: "He spoke directly to whoever was there.  It was personal."  Jesus: "Yes, good."  Jesus tells the disciples there will be thousands who hear His words: "What I say will be for each and every one of them.  They are coming because the word is spreading from the signs and wonders.  But what I will be giving them will be far more important.  Truth."

Joyce and Pastor Jason are at the hospital, where Joyce's son lies in a coma.  Joyce tells the pastor how, as a teenager, she gave her first child up for adoption: "I've never forgiven myself.  I can't let it go.  I can't go back.  I can't fix it."  Because she feels so helpless to change her past, Joyce does her best to control the present and prevent further mistakes.  She tells her son how to spend his allowance, her husband how to dress, and her pastor how he should cut his hair.  "My whole life, I have not stopped trying to control the outcome.  I can't control this, can I?"  Jason shakes his head soberly.  He looks at her for a few moments: "Joyce, why don't you let God handle it?"


The disciples approach the fig tree that Jesus had cursed the day before (see clip #CV12250).  They marvel that the tree has withered in the span of a single day.  Jesus reminds them they have seen Him do even greater things.  Jesus: "Have faith.  Truly, whoever says to this mountain here, 'Be taken up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, it will be done for him.  Whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."

Teresa and her family are sailing through the vast expanse of the ocean when she notices strange shapes looming in the distance. Without warning, a colossal creature sideswipes their boat, sending it into a violent rock. Panic sets in as the family begins to suspect that a prehistoric sea monster—perhaps a relic from the age of dinosaurs—lurks beneath them. Their fears are confirmed when the beast strikes again, its massive back breaching the surface and hurling the vessel even further off balance. Moments later, the boat is completely capsized. Amid the chaos, Reuben dives into the water to reach Xavier, who is trapped inside the hold. With the door jammed shut from the water pressure, Reuben instructs Xavier to wait until the hold fills completely, equalizing the pressure so he can escape. Meanwhile, the girls scramble onto the overturned hull, desperate to stay clear of the creature still circling below. At last, Xavier manages to force his way out, but as he surfaces, the beast spots him and charges. In a heart-pounding moment, Xavier climbs aboard the sunken vessel just in time to join the others. For now, they are safe.


Baby Paddington climbs out onto a precarious tree branch to reach an orange.  Before he can grab it, the branch snaps, sending him plunging over the cliff and into the torrid waters of the Amazon River.  Helpless, he is carried away by the current and is barely able to keep his head above water.  He tries to save himself but cannot--the waters are too powerful and the current is too strong.  Finally, sapped of strength, he sinks beneath the water for the last time.  Just then, a hand reaches out and pulls him to safety.  Later, as the cub dries off and enjoys a snack, the bear who saved him lets him know he will never be truly alone again: "Remember, little one, if you ever get lost again, just roar and I'll roar right back."


Paddington eagerly sits in a photo booth, inserts a coin, and listens as an automated voice begins guiding him through the process. Determined to follow the instructions, he does his best but quickly finds himself overwhelmed by the rapid pace and his own misunderstandings. When the voice instructs him to "position his face within the red circle," he mistakenly assumes he must press his face against a circle on the wall, resulting in a blinding flash that sends him tumbling off his chair. As the photos continue snapping, his panic escalates, and his attempt to reposition the chair leads to an unfortunate breakage. In the chaos, he inadvertently strikes the machine, causing an avalanche of coins to pour out while the relentless snapshots persist. Finally, thoroughly disoriented, Paddington stumbles out of the booth and collapses into a pile of newspapers, leaving behind a trail of photographic evidence of his misadventure.


Paddington frantically searches the hold for the captain, only to discover that he has vanished—along with anyone else capable of steering the boat. The helm spins aimlessly, sending the vessel careening down the river and straight into the rapids. As the boat lurches violently from side to side, its passengers are tossed about, unable to steady themselves or regain control. Determined to help, Paddington attempts to take the wheel, but only manages to entangle himself in the radio cord. His effort to reverse course goes disastrously wrong, as his lack of experience causes the boat to accelerate instead. With the vessel crashing into rocks, Mr. Brown urgently instructs his family to find the life jackets, but their hopes sink when they open a box labeled “Emergency Supplies” and discover it contains nothing but cocktail-making equipment. As the boat plunges deeper into the treacherous waters, Paddington finally locates the life jackets, prompting the family to make the only reasonable choice—they abandon ship. Leaping into the river just in time, they watch as the boat sinks instantly behind them, swallowed by the rushing waters.


Clarissa is holding the Browns at gunpoint, hoping to find the lost gold of El Dorado.  When she reveals that Paddington's bracelet holds the key, she is angered to find that Captain Cabot is now in possession of the trinket.  And, Cabot wants the gold as much as she does.  The question is, does he want the gold as much as he wants his daughter?  Clarissa brings out Gina, bound and gagged, and offers to trade her for the bracelet: "The gold or your daughter?"  Gina begs her father to save her, but he struggles to let go of the dream he has chased his whole life.  As he wrestles out loud with himself, he suddenly notices Paddington looking at him with a piercing gaze.  Cabot: "Why do I feel so...queasy?"  Paddington, firmly: "It's called a hard stare...and it's for when people have forgotten their manners and the important things.  Gina's your treasure.  Don't lose her because of gold."  While Cabot considers Paddington's words, all of his treasure-mad ancestors appear to tempt him: "You can always get a new daughter."  But, in the end, Cabot chooses Gina. 


Mrs. and Mr. Brown have raised their two children into adulthood.  Paddington narrates the changes going on in their household.  "Judy is applying to university.  A process known as 'flying the nest.'"  We see Judy putting pushpins in distant places on a map of the United Kingdom.  Paddington: "Mrs. Brown is helping."  Mrs. Brown goes into Judy's now empty room and moves the pushpins to locations closer to home.  Next, we see Judy and her mother visiting a college campus.  Paddington: "Apparently, you have to take a parent with you so there's someone to cry."  Mrs. Brown tries and fails to stifle her sobs as an embarrassed Judy looks away.  Paddington, continuing to describe the change in their home: "Jonathan, on the other hand, rarely leaves his room.  He spends most of his time chilling."  We see the young man lounging, playing video games, and eating snacks.  His parents try and fail to inspire him to do something more with his existence.  Finally, Mr. and Mrs. Brown are alone in the living room.  Mrs. Brown, claiming to relish all of the free time she has now that her children are grown, has resumed her painting.  Her husband looks over her shoulder at her latest work of art, seeing a picture of their entire family seated on their living room sofa.  Mr. Brown, fondly: "The sofa years."  Mrs. Brown, wistfully: "Remember when our whole family could all fit on one sofa?"  Mrs. Brown stares at the now-empty couch: "What happens next?"


Mr. Brown is in his high-rise board room giving a presentation to his new boss.  "For a hundred and fifty years now, Riskworth and Hazardsby has been assessing risk.  Our risk manuals contain analysis of every risk in the known world."  Proudly, Mr. Brown pushes a stack of manuals across the table.  The titles range from the obviously dangerous "Rock Climbing" to the more mundane "Kitchen Appliances" and "Supermarkets."  Mr. Brown is pleased with his life's work of analyzing and planning for every possible danger that could ever face any of their clients.  But, his boss is less than impressed and tells him to throw his beloved manuals away: "Henry, if you want to succeed here, you need to stop avoiding risk.  And, instead, you need to start embracing it."  To illustrate her point, Madison's assistant enters the room via parachute just to bring her a coffee.  


Paddington is saddened to learn that Aunt Lucy has disappeared in the jungles of the Amazon rainforest.  Paddington: "I have to find her!"  Mr. Brown looks at a map on the wall of the enormous area they would need to cover and doesn't hold out much hope.  While the others go get ready for bed, Paddington stays behind, looking at the map on the wall.  Clarissa sees he is discouraged and comforts him: "All it takes to light the darkness is one candle of faith.  Something will turn up."


Gina tells the Browns about the generational sin that has destroyed her family for hundreds of years - - gold madness.  While Gina tells the stories of the various ancestors who fell prey to their own greed, we see them on their courses of doom.  First, a ruthless conquistador drives his own men to the point of exhaustion and death in his search of the fabled gold.  Finally, he dies of starvation without ever finding it.  Gina: "Instead of riches, all he passed on to his descendants was greed."  Next, we see an old miner who blows himself up searching for wealth.  After him comes a colonial explorer who meets his fate in the jaws of a jungle cat.  Following him is a female pilot who searches the jungles for treasure.  She dies in a fiery crash.  Finally, a missionary seeks the gold and instead finds disaster.  Gina: "All any of them found was death."


The Browns have reached a impassable chasm and the rope bridge has been destroyed.  Mrs. Brown shakes her head: "We need a miracle."  She holds her saint medallion and begins to pray.  Immediately, they hear the sound of a plane engine overhead.  They look and see Clarissa and Mrs. Bird, flying toward them in an aircraft named, "The Miracle."  They rejoice at the amazing answer to prayer.


Captain Cabot watches as Paddington is about to open the secret door ostensibly leading to the fabled El Dorado.  He sees a vision of his ancestor, who always appears to him in order to tempt him with greed.  Ancestor, leaning over his shoulder, whispers: "Take it from him."  Cabot tries initially to resist, speaking aloud: "But, it feels so wrong."  Ancestor, appearing over the other shoulder: "Wrong?  500 years of searching for gold is wrong?"  Cabot reminds himself of the promise he made to his daughter to leave the gold alone.  Ancestor: "Forget about Gina.  Take the talisman.  Kill the bear!"  By the time the ancestor is finished speaking, Cabot is mouthing the words along with him and they have become his own.  He grins evilly, demanding the bracelet from Paddington.  When Paddington calmly refuses, Cabot pulls out a machete: "Cabatos don't share!"


Mrs. Bird cries out to Mr. Brown to manually open the landing gear or their plane will crash.  However, when Mr. Brown opens the hatch, an enormous spider the size of his hand is sitting atop the gear.  He sits, immobilized by fear, until he hears a voice in his head: "Embrace the risk, Henry."  He narrows his eyes, staring at the spider.  The spider's six eyes stare back.  Henry grabs his risk manual and gently nudges the spider onto it.  But, when he opens the window to push the spider out of the plane, it blows back in his face.  Now, Henry, who is terrified of spiders, has what is probably the largest spider on the planet sitting on his face.  But, he still has to save his family and so, despite his fear, he opens the landing gear, spider and all.  When he's done, he picks the spider off his face and puts it back in the gear compartment.  His family applauds him.

Paddington in Peru

Jesus stands alone in the darkened garden.  He prays aloud, His voice betraying His internal agony.  His hands tremble as He supports Himself against a tree.  His breath coming in shaky gasps, Jesus goes back to where He left the disciples, ostensibly to pray.  He finds them all sleeping peacefully.  He puts his head in His hands, whispering Peter's name.  Peter immediately awakens.  Jesus, pained: "You could not watch even one hour with me?"  Jesus returns to praying, asking His disciples to do the same.


Peter, Thaddeus, and John follow a young man carrying a jar of water, fulfilling Jesus’s instruction to find him and speak with the master of the house about securing a room to celebrate Passover. As they approach the house, the owner eyes them warily, unsure of their intentions. But the young man, John Mark, breaks into a smile—he recognizes them from a dream he had the night before. Peter steps forward and delivers Jesus’s message: “The Teacher asks, ‘My time is at hand. Where is My guest room where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?’” Overcome with excitement, John Mark turns to his father and exclaims, “Those are the men from last night!” Together, they glance up toward the upper room, where John Mark has already begun preparing a banquet table, unknowingly setting the stage for a sacred gathering.
(Season 5, Episode 7)

Jesus and Andrew are sitting Shiva after the death of John the Baptist.  This week-long period of mourning is a time for the bereaved to feel their loss and weep with others.  So, when Andrew laughs at something funny Jesus says, he feels wrong somehow.  Andrew: "Can we be laughing?"  Jesus: "Why not?  You know, some of the moments in which we laugh the hardest come around the time of a funeral.  Our hearts are so tender, all our emotions right at the surface.  Laughter and tears, closer than ever."  Jesus, smiling, recalls how even John himself could not remain sullen during Shiva for seven straight days.  Andrew: "I feel guilty.  I should be in shambles."  Jesus: "No, Andrew.  There is no 'should' in grief.  There's no right way to mourn."
(Season 4, Episode 2)

Jesus and His disciples are visiting the house of Lazarus.  While Jesus teaches in the other room, Martha is busy preparing food for everyone.  As she passes food around, Martha glares at her sister.  Mary is sitting near Jesus, drinking in His words.  Bitterly, Martha complains to Jesus: "It seems You didn't notice my sister has left me to serve alone."  She asks Jesus to tell Mary to help.  Tenderly, Jesus invites Martha to sit next to Him.  Martha: "How can I sit?  Only half Your followers have been served."  Jesus: "You are anxious and troubled about many things, and it is not for nothing.  Hospitality will always matter, and I am grateful for what you have done.  Your intention is well-meaning, but only one thing is truly necessary.  The best way to serve Me is to pay close attention to My words.  That is the priority.  That is what your sister has chosen.  It is a good portion, and it will not be taken from her."
(Season 4, Episode 5)

Jesus and two other prisoners are being led toward Golgotha, where they will be crucified for their "crimes."  Just outside the courtyard, the prisoners are given their own crosses to carry.  The two thieves take theirs reluctantly, one fearing and one furious.  Jesus, however, embraces His cross.  Holding it lovingly, He prays: "I am Your servant, Father.  Your servant and the Son of Your handmaid."  The angry prisoner mocks: "Why do You embrace Your cross, fool?"  Slowly standing, Jesus agonizingly bears the weight of the wood on His raw back.  With each step torture, Jesus begins to carry the cross through the crowd.  People mock Him, spit on Him, as He passes them.  He is silent, carrying His cross.  (Caution: may be disturbing to some viewers)


Melech, a Samaritan, is grateful to Jesus for plowing his field, but he knows he is unworthy of such a kindness from a Jew: "If You knew who I am, You would never have helped me."  Jesus: "That's not true.  This is what we Jews do.  We tell and listen to stories.  Our stories connect us.  Tell me your story."  Melech, ashamed, tells Jesus that his family was starving.  And so, he and his friend waylaid a Jewish traveler on the road from Jerusalem to Jericho and stole everything he had.  They left him naked and seriously wounded on the side of the road.  While riding the man's stolen horse, Melech was thrown and broke his leg, permanently damaging it.  Melech: "So, now You know what You've done.  The kind of man You helped.  Every day I think about that Jew, naked and alone on the road, possibly dead.  I could be a murderer."  Jesus, softly: "He didn't die.  Somebody came along and helped him."  Melech: "How do You know?"  Jesus: "Melech, I know.  I promise you, he did not die."  Melech begins to weep.  Melech, shaking his head at Jesus: "Why me?"  He wonders why Jesus came to him, out of all the people that are clamoring for His attention.  Jesus: "A shepherd leaves the 99 on the mountain to search for the one that went astray."  (Season 2, Episode 1)


Rescue workers have been sent to the frozen lake where three boys have fallen through the ice (see clip # CV10100).  Police arrive on the scene first, and two officers immediately walk out onto the lake.  The first officer stops as the ice begins to break underneath his feet, but the second continues on toward the desperate boys.  Josh looks pleadingly at the officer as he approaches: "Please help us!"  Reiger, paddling weakly in the water: "I can't hold on much longer."  Crawling to the opening in the ice, the officer grabs Reiger's hand and pulls him out of the water.  Cracking sounds are heard, but the officer is able to help Reiger to the shore and into the waiting ambulance.  Two men from the fire department arrive, wearing special suits to enable them to get in the water.  Carrying long poles with hooks at the end, Tommy and Joe walk to the edge of the gaping hole.  Josh, still crouched on the broken ice, terrified, begs them to save John, who has now been underwater for a full ten minutes.  Tommy and Joe enter the water and begin to methodically drag their poles back and forth across the lake bottom, searching for John.  Without more specialized equipment, they cannot go underneath the water themselves and must limit their search to the area the poles can reach.  When Josh has been under 15 minutes, Joe begins to lose hope: "It's going to be a recovery, not a rescue."  But both men continue to sweep with their poles.  Suddenly, Tommy hears a voice telling him to go back.  He looks up, thinking the chief had called to him.  Joe, however, heard nothing.  Tommy, looking confused, wonders what the words meant.  Following the order, he goes back to a place he previously searched.  Joe, seeing him, tells him the spot is hopeless: "Tommy, if he went under the ice back there, he's a goner."  But Tommy keeps looking, hoping against hope.  His eyes widen as his pole makes contact with something.  He begins to pull, dragging the object toward the surface.  Tommy, now sure, shouts to the other rescue workers: "We got him!"  Joe, Tommy, and the others work together to pull John's white body out of the icy water.


Nicodemus has been asked to try to help Lilith, a woman possessed by a legion of demons.  Nicodemus stands outside her home and interviews her friend, Rivka.  The sounds of screaming and breaking glass coming from inside the home is heard by everyone in the courtyard.  Rivka: "You can put an end to this?"  Nicodemus doesn't respond, uncertain of his own power over whatever is controlling Lilith.  Holding his incense burner, which is filled with herbs thought to promote a holy atmosphere, Nicodemus slowly enters the house.  The room is dark, the furnishings minimal but scattered.  The bed is overturned and Lilith hides on the floor behind it.  Nicodemus, attempting to cast the demons from the woman: "I adjure you by the holy angels Michael, Gabriel, Rafael, Uriel and Reziel.  I adjure you, cursed dragon and diabolical legions.  Come out!"  A gasp is heard from behind the bed.  Nicodemus continues to call the demons out: "In the name of Adonai, God of the heavens, cease to deceive this human creature!"  Lilith groans again.  Nicodemus, who has already called on the names of the angels and the name of God, now invokes the names of the patriarchs, but to no avail.  The one Name which would have helped is unknown to him.  Lilith sits up and speaks, in a demonic voice: "We are not afraid of you.  You have no power here, teacher."  Nicodemus, frightened, leaves as quickly as he can.  (Caution: scene may disturb some viewers) (Season 1, Episode 1)  


Matthew tells Jesus that he doesn't understand why Jesus chose to use salt as a metaphor for the Christian life.  Jesus: "Salt preserves meat from corruption.  It slows its decay.  I want My followers to be a people who hold back the evil of the world.  Salt also enhances the flavor of things.  I want My followers to renew the world and be part of its redemption.  Salt can also be mixed with honey and rubbed on the skin for maladies.  I want my people to participate in the healing of the world, not its destruction."  Matthew wonders aloud why Jesus would choose to speak in metaphors instead of speaking plainly.  Jesus: "These things will make sense to some, but not to others.  I don't want passive followers.  Those who are truly committed will peer deeply into it, looking for truth."

Judah travels to Jerusalem to take part in an epic chariot race. On the day of the race, as the riders are lining up their horses at the gates, Judah is stationed next to his enemy, Messala, who tells Judah: "You should have stayed away." Judah: "You should have killed me."  Messala: "I will..."

Mary reads a letter sent from Mary and Martha, telling the disciples that Lazarus has died.  They are in shock, remembering that Jesus had told them that Lazarus's illness would not end in death.  Jesus is grieved, but tells His disciples they will return to Judea.  The disciples are afraid of returning to the place where they were almost stoned, but Jesus is firm.  Jesus: "Our friend has fallen asleep, but I will go and awaken him."  Judas insists that a man could recover from sleep, but this is not the kind of sleep Jesus means.  Jesus: "Lazarus has died.  And, for your sake, I'm glad I was not there...so that you may believe."

Matthew greets his friend, the centurion Gaius.  He can tell the man is disturbed.  Gaius tells him his situation is complicated: "I'm helpless."  Matthew: "I complicate everything, but my Teacher, He makes life very simple.  Every morning I wake up, my ideas and fears are jumbled.  I feel overwhelmed with doubt and regret."  Gaius nods, feeling similar.  Matthew: "But, if I just pause for a moment and remember...I have only one thing to do today.  Follow Him.  The rest takes care of itself."
(Season 4, Episode 2)

Simon confesses to Eden that he doesn't have their financial situation under control.  He has been hiding the fact that their tax debts are so high they are in danger of losing their home.  Simon: "I did some things I'm not proud of to fix it, and now it's gone bad.  We're in trouble."  Simon tells his wife that he could be put in prison.  Simon, nearly frantic, feels he has only one option left: "I've got to spend the rest of the week doing nothing but catch every fish I can and hope I can fix this somehow!"  Eden, tears on her cheeks, tells her husband that his eyes have been closed for a long time: "Where is your faith?"  Simon: "Faith isn't gonna get me more fish."  But Eden doesn't mean faith for simply today's problem.  She has watched him trying to do everything by himself, without consulting God, for far too long.  Eden: "You have not pursued the Lord lately.  That is why you are stuck, and you feel desperate, and now you're off to try to fix it yourself again!"  Eden tells Simon to go.  Eden: "No more talking.  Maybe God can get your attention now."  (Season 1, Episode 4)


Jesus is in the final, agonizing stage of death.  He cries out in His pain and desolation: "My God, why have You forsaken Me?"  Jesus, knowing His time has come, whispers: "It is accomplished."  He looks up to heaven, gasping: "Father, into Your hands I commend My Spirit."  His eyes dilate and His head falls forward.  A single drop of rain falls from heaven and hits the ground.  As soon as it touches the dirt, a raging wind is unleashed.  The ground trembles in a massive earthquake.  Inside the temple, the floor cracks in two and the curtain separating the Holy of Holies is torn in half.  Fearing the terrible quake, the Roman centurion orders his men to break the bones of the prisoners so they will die quickly.  The two thieves have their legs broken, but when the soldier comes to Jesus, he sees that He is already dead.  None of His bones are broken.  Instead, the soldier takes a spear and pierces Christ's side.  Out of the hole flows a stream of water, raining down on the soldier.  He falls to his knees, staring up at the cross.  (Caution: graphic scene of violence)


Duncan and his team locate a dinosaur nest precariously situated halfway down a sheer 500-foot cliff, forcing them to rely on ropes and climbing gear to reach it. Dr. Loomis, whose climbing experience is limited to the safety of his gym’s rock wall, stares down the dizzying drop with palpable fear as LeClerc descends with effortless confidence. “If you fall, you die. Don’t worry, I got you,” Duncan reassures him, staying behind to monitor the ropes while Zora and Loomis begin their descent. Loomis quickly freezes, clutching the cliff face in terror as Zora breezes past with a teasing grin: “It’s fun, right?” Back at the top, Duncan and Krebs are briefly distracted by a small dinosaur, and in that moment of lost focus, Loomis slips. Duncan shouts for Krebs to grab the ropes, and he does—just in time to stop Loomis from plummeting. Shaken but alive, Loomis finishes the final forty feet of the rappel, landing in a graceless heap beside Zora, who smiles and quips, “See. Just like the gym.”


The doctor has just told Joyce that her teenage son has died (see clip # CV10102).  She stands over his lifeless body, weeping.  She begins to pray, crying out to God to save John: "Please, Jesus, please!  Holy Spirit, I need You now.  Please don't take my son!"  Her prayers interspersed with her tears, she pours out her heart: "Please bring life back into John.  Please!"  Outside, in the hallway, the doctor and nurses can hear Joyce's prayers and tears fill their eyes.  Joyce continues to plead with God, her whole body wracked with such desperate grief that she is screaming: "Send Your Holy Spirit to save my son!"  Just then, the heart monitor begins to beep.  A nurse watching from the hallway cries out in amazement: "We've got a pulse!"  As hospital workers begin to rush back into the room, the beep grows stronger.  Joyce stands by her son, awed.


Kate and Josh are on a canoe in the lake when Kate stands, balancing on the wobbly craft.  She calls out to her father to watch her antics, but isn't able to keep her balance.  The canoe tips over, throwing both youths into the water.  Mack comes running when Kate begins to scream that Josh is trapped under the canoe.  Mack sprints down the dock, diving into the water.  When he swims to the canoe, he finds that Josh has been pinned underneath by the strap of his life vest.  He sets him free and drags him ashore.  Josh is unconscious and not breathing.  Panicked, Mack begins to perform CPR.  After several tense moments, he succeeds in reviving his son.

Mack's life is shattered when their youngest child Missy disappears during a camping trip while he is saving Kate and Josh during a canoeing accident. The police determine Missy is the victim of a serial killer after finding her torn dress and blood in a derelict cabin in the forest.  

After Mack receives an unstamped, typewritten note inviting him to meet at the shack where Missy was murdered (the message is signed "Papa" - Missy's nickname for God), he arrives as the shack with a gun, thinking this may possibly be an opportunity for meeting and punishing the serial killer. Finding the shack empty, an enraged Mack is tempted to shoot himself; before he can, he encounters a deer, which seems to want to lead him somewhere...

Mack enters the shack, which has been transformed into a lovely country cottage.  He is greeted warmly by a middle-aged black woman: "Mackenzie Allen Phillips!"  After the woman releases him from a big hug, Mack stares at her in confusion: "Do I know you?"  Woman, smiling: "Not very well.  But we can work on that."  Mack looks around the room, seeing two additional people...a young Asian woman and an Arabic man.  The woman introduces herself as Elousia: "I have a lot of names, but that's one of my favorites."  Mack looks at her, realization dawning on his face: "Are you saying that you're..."  Elousia: "I am."  Mack, continuing: "The 'I AM?'"  Elousia: "I am that I am."  She and the other two laugh: "Look at that, already quotin' Scripture."  Elousia then introduces her son, Jesus, who steps forward to shake Mack's hand.  The Asian woman introduces herself as Sarayu.  Jesus, explaining: "Sarayu.  It means, 'a breath of wind.'"  Mack, squinting in confusion, looks around at the three: "So, which one of you is...?"  All three, together: "I am."  Elousia, smiling: "And you have no idea how much I love you."  Mack blinks.

Mack is helping Sarayu dig in the garden.  Mack reaches for an exposed root, but is stopped by Sarayu: "Careful.  That one's deadly."  Mack understandably wonders why she would plant a poisonous plant in her garden.  Sarayu: "You're presuming that poison is bad?"  Mack: "Uh-huh."  Sarayu plucks the root and holds it next to a flower from a different plant: "On its own, the sap from this twig would kill you.  But, combine it with the nectar from this flower, and, suddenly, it contains incredible healing properties."  Sarayu, resuming her digging: "Let me ask you, how confident are you in your ability to discern good from evil?"  Mack: "Usually pretty obvious."  Sarayu: "And your basis for something being good is what?"  Mack: "Well, if it helps me or the people that I love."  Sarayu: "And evil?"  Mack: "If it's harmful.  If it hurts someone that I care about."  Sarayu: "So, pretty much, you are the judge?"  Mack, continuing to work: "Yeah, I guess."  Sarayu: "You ever been wrong?  Or changed your opinion over time?"  Mack: "Sure."  Sarayu: "And there are billions like you...each determining what you think is good and evil.  And when your good clashes with your neighbor's evil, arguments ensue.  Wars break out.  Because all insist on playing God.  You weren't meant to do any of that."

Mack is sitting in a rowboat in the middle of a lake.  Suddenly, his quiet reflection is broken by the sound of his terrified daughter's voice.  He looks around, seeing nothing.  The boat jerks as something underneath strikes it, hard, again and again.  Mack looks down into the water and sees his son under the surface, struggling to come up for air.  He reaches into the water to save him, but the vision disappears.  Mack pulls back his hand, which is now coated in a black sludge.  The inky slime begins to spread outward from the boat, leaking inside and polluting the clean lake.  The boat begins to break apart underneath Mack, who is now gasping in fright.  In the midst of his terror, Mack hears the voice of Jesus: "Mack!  Mack, it's okay."  Mack: "Why are You doing this to me?"  Jesus: "This isn't Me."  Mack: "You told me to come out here!"  Jesus: "Mack, this is happening inside you.  You're letting it consume you and you don't have to."  Mack continues to see painful images from his past - - himself giving CPR to his drowning son and his murdered daughter's coffin.  He looks at the water now rapidly filling the boat and is horrified.  Jesus, pointing to Himself: "Don't look at it, Mack!  Look here!"  Jesus continues, walking on the water toward Mack: "Don't think about the past.  Don't think about the pain.  Look at Me.  Everything is gonna be okay."  Mack looks down one more time as the stern of his boat sinks beneath the water.  He looks back at Jesus and stares at Him in desperation as he sinks.  Jesus, locking into his gaze: "None of this can hurt you.  Trust Me."  Mack's breathing slows as he keeps his eyes on Christ.  Suddenly, he is sitting once again in a sturdy rowboat in the middle of a clear lake.  Jesus walks across the water toward him.

Mack also visits another cave where God's wisdom, in the form of a woman named Sophia, talks to him. Sophia asks Mack to sit in divine judgment over sinners and his family. How would he judge the man who murdered Missy? "I would damn him to hell." What about that man's father, who twisted him into that defiant monster? "I would damn him, too." But how can he stop there - doesn't the legacy of brokenness go all the way back to Adam?  And what about God? "Absolutely, God is to blame."  If it's so easy to judge God, what if he had to choose between his two children? She forces him to make a choice: only ONE can spend an eternity in heaven, and the other an eternity in hell.  "I Can't"  Even though she's only asking him to do something he believes God does. She still presses him, but unable to send one of his children to hell, Mack has an idea: "Take me instead..."

The Divine Trio gives Mack a glimpse into heaven where he encounters the spirit of his father, who apologizes for his mistreatment of Mack and forgives him. Mack also apologizes to his father, whom he killed.

God (in the form of an elderly man called Papa) has brought Mack to the forest for a task He says will be very painful.  Mack backs away in horror: "You want me to forgive him?"  Papa nods.  Mack: "He killed my daughter!  I wanna hurt him.  I want him to hurt like he hurt me.  I want You to hurt him!"  Papa: "I know you do.  But he, too, is my son.  And I want to redeem him."  Mack, angrily: "Redeem him?  He should burn in Hell!"  Papa: "So, we're back to you as the judge?"  Mack, struggling: "So, You just let him get away with it?"  Papa shakes His head: "Nobody gets away with anything.  Everything bears consequences."  Mack, beginning: "What he did - -"  Papa, finishing: "Was horrible.  I'm not asking you to excuse what he did.  I'm asking you to trust Me to do what's right and to know what's best."  Mack grimaces, shaking his head.  Papa: "Mack, the pain inside is devouring you, robbing you of joy and crippling your capacity to love."  Mack, tearfully: "I can't!"  Papa: "You're not stuck because you can't.  You're stuck because you won't."  Mack sits down, his head between his knees.  Suddenly, he notices a ladybug on his hand (his daughter was murdered by the Ladybug Killer).  Papa bends down next to him: "You don't have to do this alone."  Mack whispers his forgiveness aloud and the ladybug flies away.  Mack, looking far from relieved of his burden: "I'm still angry."  Papa: "Of course you are.  No one lets go all at once.  You might have to do it 1,000 times before it gets any easier.  But, it will."

After Mack helps Jesus build a wooden box and helps the Holy Spirit prepare a spot in her garden for a planting, they prepare her body for burial. They place her in the box and lower her in place. They Holy Spirit then takes a bottle and sprinkles liquid on Missy's box. Papa: "Those are your tears, Mackenzie, we've been collecting them for a long time..."

Mack hears the pastor's altar call and comes forward to confess.  Mack's father, an elder in the church and a secret alcoholic, abuses Mack and his mother, and Mack feels a terrible responsibility.  He kneels, crying, confessing his helplessness to an elder.  The elder looks in horror at Mack's father sitting in his pew.  Later, in the pouring rain, Mack's father drags him to the woodpile to punish him for his "disobedience."  Father, furious: "Why do you make me do this, boy?  Why do you embarrass me in front of my people?"  Pushing Mack up against a log, the father begins to beat his son's back with a belt.  Screaming, he orders Mack to recite a Scripture passage: "Say it!"  Mack, crying out in pain: "Obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord."  Father, striking Mack harder: "Louder!"  Mack, calling out through his tears: "Colossians 3:20, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord!"  Mack's father continues to beat him while his mother watches, anguished, from a window in the house.

Mack has brought his children to see Multnomah Falls.  As the four stare at the majestic waterfall, Mack tells them a fable about its origins.  According to the tale, an Indian village became ill with a mysterious disease that ravaged the entire countryside.  When the elders met to devise a plan, the chief told of a prophecy: "The illness could only be stopped if the daughter of a chief gave up her life for her people."  This chief had a daughter, his only child, but he and the other elders were unwilling to ask for such a sacrifice.  When the princess heard the prophecy, however, she decided to give up her own life for her people.  Because her love for them was so great, she climbed to the top of the cliff and jumped over.  "The next morning, a great healing came over the tribe."  The chief wept, grieved over his daughter's sacrifice, asking that her act be remembered forever.  "The Great Spirit was so moved by his tears that he answered his prayers."  Mack points to the waterfall: "Water began to fall.  Right there."

Mack is driving, his thoughts far away on memories of home and family.  His eyes wander from the road, drifting along with his mind.  He breezes past a stop sign and is suddenly jerked into the present by the blare of a loud horn.  He yanks the steering wheel to the side just in time to narrowly avoid being struck by a semi-truck.  His vehicle spins around and around before finally coming to a stop.  Mack, safe but shaken, pants as he watches the truck drive away.

God (in the form of a woman called Papa) tells Mack she knows he is suffering and wants a relationship with him.  Mack: "You're the Almighty God, right?  You know everything.  You're everywhere, all at once.  You have limitless power.  Yet, somehow, you let my little girl die.  When she needed you most.  You abandoned her."  Papa: "I never left her."  Mack: "If you are who you say you are, where were you when I needed you?"  Papa: "Son, when all you see is your pain, you lose sight of me."  Mack: "Stop talking in riddles.  How can you say that you will help me when you couldn't help her?  Because of you, she's gone."  Papa: "The Truth sets everyone free.  And the Truth has a name."  Mack: "Truth?  I know that story.  You left Him, too.  Seems like you have a bad habit of turning your back on those you supposedly love."  Papa: "I'm not who you think I am."  Mack: "He said it Himself: 'My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?'"  Papa, tears in her eyes: "You misunderstand the mystery."  She holds out her wrists for Mack to see the nail scars: "Don't ever think that what my Son chose to do didn't cost us both dearly.  Love always leaves a mark.  We were there together.  I never left Him.  I never left you.  I never left Missy."

God (in the form of a woman called Papa) is serving breakfast to Mack on the patio.  Mack, taking a sip of the coffee she poured him: "Is there anyone you're not especially fond of?"  Papa, smiling: "Nope.  Never been able to find any.  Guess that's just the way I am."  Mack: "Don't you get mad at 'em?"  Papa: "Well, sure.  But what parent doesn't?"  Mack, allowing a little bitterness to seep into his tone: "And that's where your whole wrath thing comes in, doesn't it?"  Papa: "My what?"  Mack: "Your wrath."  Papa, looking blank: "You lost me there."  Mack: "Come on.  Everybody knows you punish the people who disappoint you."  Papa shakes her head: "Nope.  I don't need to punish people.  Sin is its own punishment."

Mack is speaking with Wisdom (personified as a woman in a white dress) in a dim cave: "You know what I don't understand, is how God can love Missy and put her through so much horror?"  Mack wonders if God used the murder of his little girl to punish him.  Wisdom: "Is that who your God is, Mackenzie?  No wonder you're drowning in great sorrow.  God isn't like that.  This was not God's doing."  Mack, accusingly: "He didn't stop it!"  Wisdom: "He doesn't stop a lot of things that cause Him pain.  What happened to Missy was the work of evil.  And no one in your world is immune from it.  You want the promise of a pain-free life?"  Mack, nodding: "Yes."  Wisdom: "There isn't one.  As long as there is another will in this universe, free not to follow God, evil can find a way in."  Mack, whispering: "There's gotta be a better way."  Wisdom: "There is.  But the better way involves trust."  Mack sinks to the ground, relinquishing control: "I don't wanna be the judge anymore."  A glowing light begins to fill the cave behind the waterfall.  Mack stands, looking through the mist, and sees a vision of his daughter, Missy, playing happily in the fields of Heaven.

Mack has just been given the choice of whether to go to heaven or remain on Earth and return to his family.  Mack: "Everything about being here has been so remarkable.  Back home, I go to work.  Try to be a good person.  Love my family.  Does what I do really matter?"  Sarayu: "Absolutely.  Mack, you are important.  And so is everything you do."  Jesus: "Every time you love, Mack, or forgive, with every act of kindness, the universe changes for the better."  Papa nods in agreement: "If anything matters, then everything matters."  Mack: "Then I wanna go home."

Roz looks at the burned-out husk of her home.  She knows the robots will never stop coming for her and determines she must leave the island in order to protect her friends.  The animals are sad to see her leave.  But Roz knows she is not leaving them alone.  They have each other.  Fink: "You're my friend.  I need you.  What if I need to tell you something and you're not here?"  Thorn puts his paw gently on Fink's back: "You can tell me."  Pinktail, holding the fox's face in her hands: "And me."  Even grumpy Paddler offers comfort: "And you can talk to me as well, if you must."  The outcast fox is no longer alone.  He has a community.  And, together, the animals and Roz work to rebuild Roz's home.


Jesus is speaking to a growing crowd.  A man has asked Him why it is that His words inspire some, but threaten others.  To explain, Jesus tells them the parable of the sower.  As He speaks, His disciples spread throughout the crowd, repeating His words to those far away.  Jesus: "A sower went out to sow.  And, as He sowed, some seeds fell along the path and the birds devoured them.  Others fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil.  Immediately, they sprang up, for there was no depth of soil.  But, when the sun rose, they were scorched.  And, since they had no root, they withered away.  Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them.  Other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundred-fold, some sixty, some thirty.  He who has ears to hear, let him hear!"

The rabbi approaches Jesus after His startling claim to be Messiah (see clip # CV11690).  "If You do not renounce Your words, we will have no choice but to follow the Law of Moses."  Jesus: "I AM the Law of Moses."  Infuriated, the men immediately seize Him and drag him outside the town.  Mary watches in horror as her Son is led away to be killed.  The crowd takes Him to the edge of a cliff, where the rabbi pronounces the sentence of death.  But, as the men step forward to stone Him, Jesus stops them with only His words.  He slips through the crowd unharmed and escapes. (Season 3, Episode 3)

Jesse is now a teenager (see clip # CV11639 for Jesse's backstory).  He has spent his adolescence on his mat, watching others live life.  Even now, he watches as his younger brother, Simon, plays with friends.  Simon sees Jesse watching and knows he feels left out.  He draws his friends over to Jesse's mat and they include him in their play.  Later, the brothers lie on their backs, looking at the stars together.  Finally, they end the evening by playing a game.  They share a secret handshake before lying down to sleep in their shared bedroom.  Years pass, and the boys are young men.  Their love for one another hasn't waned and they still end each night with their secret handshake.  (Season 2, Episode 4)


Jesus has just been beaten almost to death (see scene # CV09610).  As He leans, battered and bloody, against a wall, several Roman soldiers approach Him, laughing.  Having heard Him referred to as the King of the Jews, the soldiers place a crown of thorns on His head.  They strike the crown, ensuring that the thorns drive deep into His flesh.  Blood streams down His face as the soldiers laugh mockingly.  "Look at Him.  King of the worms.  Hail, wormy king!"  They place a magenta robe over his wounded body: "A color fit for a king!"  (Caution: images may disturb some viewers)


Stitch, the mischievous alien menace, has escaped and is barreling toward a wedding tent in a wildly driven golf cart, his sights set on food. With a spectacular crash, he bursts through the tent and lands squarely in the stunned groom’s arms, cackling with glee. Chaos erupts as Stitch darts around the venue, leaving a trail of destruction—he bathes in the punch bowl, shatters dishes, and launches himself into the towering wedding cake. The bridal party scrambles to contain the pandemonium, wielding brooms in a frantic attempt to swat him away, only to accidentally strike a groomsman in the face. Amid the mayhem, the wedding photographer dutifully captures every outrageous moment, culminating in a shot of the bride, frozen in disbelief, drenched in frosting and cake from head to toe. (Caution: h-word)


When Roz hears that a terrible storm is threatening the lives of the animals on the island, she insists that she and Fink save them.  While Fink would prefer to stay by the fire rather than brave the snow to save their enemies, Roz knows they must do it.  Fink: "No one likes me."  Roz: "Nor me, but right now we are their only chance.  Funny how life works."  One-by-one, they dig into dens, burrows, and holes hidden deep under snow and ice.  They work until they rescue every single animal and bring it back to their fire.  Even those who are mortal enemies are saved.  By the time the last are rescued, Roz's battery is dangerously low, but she still goes back into the storm to find the last one.


Duncan and his team finally locate the elusive dinosaur they’ve been tracking, a massive aquatic beast slicing through the waves with terrifying grace. Their boat races alongside it, every eye locked on the creature as Zora takes position with her dart gun, poised to collect a vital blood sample. The air is thick with adrenaline—equal parts excitement and dread—as the team braces for the perfect moment. Suddenly, the dinosaur launches into the air and crashes back down, sending a powerful wave that rocks the boat and causes Zora to misfire, her dart lost to the sea. As Dr. Loomis scrambles to retrieve another, Zora silently thanks herself for insisting on being strapped in. The creature dives again, and this time the force sends Zora overboard, dangling by her harness as Loomis strains to pull her back. With grit and precision, Zora regains her footing and takes the shot—this time, it hits. A cheer erupts from the crew as they realize they’ve succeeded in their mission.


Williams, clad in full protective gear, approaches the entrance to the highly secure T-Rex lab, knowing that entry requires precise coordination—he must turn his key at the exact moment a scientist inside does the same. As he prepares, a candy bar wrapper slips from his hand and falls unnoticed to the floor. When the door opens and Williams steps inside, the wrapper is sucked in with him, eventually lodging itself in the containment mechanism. This seemingly trivial mishap triggers a catastrophic security failure and forces a system-wide reboot. Alarms erupt throughout the facility, sending scientists into a frenzy as they realize the unthinkable: the T-Rex has escaped. Amid the chaos, Williams finds himself trapped inside the lab. Desanto rushes to free him, key in hand, but freezes in terror as a massive silhouette emerges from the shadows behind him. The T-Rex looms, and in a moment of paralyzing fear, Desanto withdraws her key, whispering, “I’m sorry.” Williams begs for release, but she cannot bring herself to act. The dinosaur seizes him in one colossal claw, lifting him out of sight as Desanto screams again, “I’m sorry!”


Krebs extends an urgent invitation to Dr. Loomis, offering him a spot on a dinosaur-hunting expedition departing immediately. Loomis is thrust into a moment of reckoning, torn between the perilous, illegal nature of the mission and the once-in-a-lifetime chance to witness firsthand the creatures he’s devoted his career to studying. Temptation grips him, and he asks for a moment to think. Zora and Krebs settle across from him, the tension thick in the air. “Your entire life has been leading up to this moment,” Zora says softly. Loomis silently pops a mint into his mouth, the loud crunching echoing through the room as the others wait in awkward silence. Finally, Zora breaks the stillness: “You ready?” Loomis nods, his voice steady with resolve. “Yeah.”


As Duncan and his team close in on their quarry, a mayday call crackles through the radio from a sinking vessel, throwing their mission into question (see clip #CV12292). Atwater immediately objects to diverting course, unwilling to travel 28 miles in the opposite direction when they’re mere minutes from their target. Zora is appalled by his cold calculation, insisting they cannot abandon the stranded sailors. Atwater counters that the distressed crew has a functioning radio and is safe for now, and Krebs backs him up. The tension escalates as Atwater presses his case, emphasizing their proximity to the prize and the staggering value of success: “We’re talking about tens of millions of dollars here, and all they need to do is just float around for a couple of hours.” Zora pushes back, reminding them that their quarry is tagged and easily traceable, even if they briefly change course. But Atwater remains fixated on the reward, and Krebs continues to support him. Ultimately, Duncan steps in with final authority, declaring, “We’re search and rescue now.” When Krebs protests, “It’s my charter,” Duncan shuts it down with quiet finality: “It’s my boat.”


Teresa and her family scramble to escape the island, launching a raft into the river just as a T-Rex spots them. Isabella screams as the monstrous predator charges, plunging into the water in pursuit. They paddle with frantic urgency, but the T-Rex surges forward, lifting its massive head and slamming into the raft, flipping it and scattering the family into the rushing current. In the chaos, they are separated. The dinosaur locks onto Reuben, who dives beneath the surface as the beast’s enormous jaws swipe through the water, narrowly missing him. Reuben, Xavier, and Teresa manage to reach a rocky crevice, but Isabella remains trapped beneath the overturned raft. Her screams draw the T-Rex, which clamps its jaws around the raft and thrashes it violently. Reuben cries out in anguish, fearing the worst—until Bella’s head breaks the surface and she begins swimming toward him. The others watch in horror as the T-Rex closes in on the little girl. At the final moment, she reaches the crevice, slipping into safety just beyond the creature’s reach. They are safe—for now.


LeClerc is hammering hooks into the cliff face, suspended by his climbing rope, when the mother dinosaur suddenly crashes into the cave. He shouts a warning to Dr. Loomis and Zora, who are seated nearby examining the dinosaur eggs. Enraged by their intrusion, the massive creature lunges at Loomis, forcing him and Zora to scramble behind two stone pillars as its enormous beak slashes through the air. Seeing their peril, LeClerc calls out to distract the beast, drawing its attention as it begins to climb after him. In the chaos, Loomis becomes entangled in his rope and is yanked out of the cave, left dangling hundreds of feet above the jungle floor. Moments later, the dinosaur catches LeClerc and devours him. Duncan and Krebs flee in terror as Loomis’s rope snaps, sending him plummeting toward the ground. Miraculously, his fall is cushioned by a tangle of tree branches, and he lands safely in the river below. (Caution: s-word, violence)


Inside the eerie silence of an abandoned convenience store, Isabella and her family huddle in fear as a prowling dinosaur stalks them. The creature follows their scent inside, and Bella, thinking fast, scrambles into a drink fridge, curling up as the beast approaches. Its breath fogs the glass, inches from her face, as she trembles in terror. Just in time, Reuben hurls a can into the far corner of the store, drawing the dinosaur’s attention away and allowing Bella to slip out. The family regroups behind a snack counter, hearts pounding as the sound of massive talons clicking across the tile grows louder. Spotting a metal grate in the floor, Reuben quickly formulates a plan. Moments later, as the dinosaur closes in on their hiding spot, the family has already slipped into the tunnel beneath the store.


As Zora and her team race toward the dock in a desperate bid to escape the island, a giant mutant dinosaur barrels after them, its monstrous form casting a shadow over their path. Their salvation—a suspended boat—hangs tantalizingly above the water, but the winch refuses to budge. Tension spikes as the dinosaur looms closer, its gaze locked on young Bella, who stands frozen in terror directly in its path. Realizing the imminent danger, Duncan makes a split-second decision to sacrifice himself for the others. He snatches a flare, knowing the creature is drawn to light, and waves it furiously to divert its attention. Zora pleads with him to stop, recognizing the suicidal risk, but Duncan is resolute: “Save them!” he shouts. With fearless resolve, he dives into the water, leading the beast away from the dock. The dinosaur follows, and the two vanish behind a grove of trees. Duncan’s voice echoes one final time as the creature opens its massive jaws, ready to strike.

Jesus and His followers are approaching Jerusalem when three Pharisees try to stop them from entering the city.  The Pharisees want to prevent a riot, knowing that Rome is listening and the Jews are ready to crown Jesus king.  Jesus tells them that He has not come for an earthly throne, but the Pharisees know that is what the people desire.  They continue to protest, but the disciples begin to cry out in worship of Jesus: "Hosanna to the Son of David!"  The Pharisees are disturbed, warning Jesus to rebuke His disciples.  Jesus: "I tell you, if they were to be silent, even these very stones around us would cry out in their place."  
(Season 5, Episode 1)

Matthew is speaking alone with Jesus.  He is hurt by the many ways Peter has lashed out at him.  Matthew, recalling some of Peter's harsh words: "He would never forget what I did to him and that he could never forgive me."  Jesus: "Have you asked for forgiveness?"  Matthew: "Why would I when he said he wouldn't forgive?  It's pointless."  Jesus: "Matthew.  You don't apologize to be forgiven.  You apologize to repent.  Forgiveness is a gift given from the other person."  But Matthew still doesn't understand why Peter has been given special leadership when he is so temperamental.  Jesus smiles: "I make people what they aren't.  You know that better than most."  But Matthew is still hurt that Jesus has elevated someone who has caused him so much pain.  Jesus: "There have been times when Peter has been overly harsh with you, and that has not pleased my Father in heaven.  Nor has it pleased Me."  But, Jesus asks Matthew to think about his situation in a different light: "Who harmed the other first?"  Matthew tries to soften his own sin: "I guess, in the abstract - -"  Jesus, interrupting: "No.  No.  Not in the abstract.  In fact."  Matthew starts to list the ways he harmed Peter.  And, as he says them aloud, he is struck by the gravity of his sins.  Jesus: "And you've never apologized for this?"  Matthew says he just wants to forget the past and keep the peace.  Jesus: "There is no peace when two of My followers hold resentment against one another.  You know what you must do."

Nathaniel is a broken man.  His dream of being an architect of synagogues was crushed after one of his buildings collapsed during construction.  He sits down beneath a fig tree to cry out to God in his distress.  Opening the satchel containing his precious drawings, he holds them out to the heavens: "This was done for You!  Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe."  Weeping, he burns them and begins to pray using the words of Psalm 102 (The Prayer of the Afflicted): "Hear my prayer, O Lord.  Let my cry come to You.  Do not hide Your face from me in the day of my distress.  Incline Your ear to me!"  Nathaniel is trying to understand why God would allow this disaster when he was just trying to serve Him.  He cries out from his heart, but feels like he gets no response: "Do not hide Your face from me!  Do you see me?  Do you see me?"  (Season 2, Episode 2)


The disciples and Mary are sitting around the fire when someone asks Mary about her experiences as Jesus's mother.  Mary looking thoughtful, telling them nothing about the birth was easy, but it was different than she had expected.  Somehow, she hadn't expected the Son of God to be like a normal baby.  He was dirty.  He was cold.  He needed her.  Mary: "It actually made me think, for just one moment, is this really the Son of God?  But we know He was.  I don't know what I expected, but he was crying and He needed me.  And I wondered how long that would last.  He doesn't need me anymore.  He hasn't needed me for a long time, I suppose.  I wish I could say that made me happy.  But...as a mom...it makes me a little sad sometimes."  (Season 2, Episode 3)


Jesus has come to the pool of Bethesda to see Jesse, a man who has been paralyzed for decades.  He stands in front of him, asking: "Do you want to be healed?"  Jesse, hopeful: "Will you take me to the water?"  Jesus smiles, shaking His head no.  Jesse complains that he has no one to help him to the water.  He has lost all hope of healing.  Jesus kneels down to look Jesse in the eye: "You don't want false hope again, I understand.  But, this pool, it has nothing for you.  It means nothing, and you know it.  But you're still here.  Why?"  Jesse, crying now: "I don't know."  Jesus: "You don't need the pool.  You only need Me.  So, do you want to be healed?"  Jesse smiles.  Jesus: "Get up, pick up your mat, and walk."  Jesse looks at Jesus in surprise.  He slaps his leg with a hand.  Now he is astonished.  His leg has feeling.  He begins to laugh.  He stands up, still laughing.

A demon-possessed man has wandered into camp.  Mary Magdalene, recognizing what the man is suffering, approaches him.  The demon acknowledges her by her former name, trying to intimidate her.  But Mary won't be intimidated.  She tries to appeal to the man behind the demon, asking him his name.  There are a few moments where the man tries to fight his way forward, choking and gasping, but the demon wins out.  He laughs and then lunges at Mary.  Before he can attack, Simon the Zealot comes out of nowhere and tackles him to the ground.  The demon begins to strangle Simon.  Before he can kill him, Jesus arrives on the scene.  From a distance, Jesus waves a hand: "Out!  Out of him!"  Immediately, the demon leaves the man's body.  He falls to the ground.  Jesus kneels tenderly beside the weeping man: "It's all right.  Welcome back.  I know.  It seemed like it would never end.  What is your name?"  Man: "Caleb."  Jesus: "Well, it's over now."  He helps Caleb to his feet and embraces him.  (Caution: scene may disturb some viewers)

Jesus and His disciples enter a synagogue on the Sabbath.  The priest is reading from the Law.  Jesus approaches a man with a withered hand, quietly asking his name.  Angry, the priest stops reading to confront Jesus: "It is not lawful to heal on Sabbath."  Jesus sighs heavily: "Which one of you who has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath will not take hold of it and lift it out?  Of how much more value is this man than a sheep?"  The priest and head priest are still furious, so Jesus continues: "Is it lawful on Sabbath to do good, or to do harm?  To save life or to kill?"  Ignoring the protests of the priest, Jesus heals the man's hand.  Instead of being awed by the miracle before them, the priests continue to focus on Sabbath law: "If he was supposed to be healed, God would have done it Himself!"  Jesus: "Interesting point."

Jesus is preparing for the Sermon on the Mount.  He tells Matthew, who is recording His words, that He has a map that will allow people to find Him.  As Matthew takes notes, Jesus looks down on the camp where His disciples are sleeping.  He begins to speak: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven..."  As Jesus speaks the Beatitudes, we see scenes of the lives of his disciples illustrating each one.  Jesus is remembering their acts of service, humility, and love as he talks about the way Christ-followers are supposed to live.   Finally, he looks at Matthew, who is often misunderstood and ridiculed even by those closest to him: "Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.  Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven."  Matthew smiles: "But how is it the map?"  Jesus: "If someone wants to find Me, those are the groups they should look for."

Jesus is preaching to the crowd about God's pursuit of the sinner.  He finds a shepherd in the crowd who has 100 sheep, asking him: "Say one of them goes astray, what do you do?"  Shepherd: "I'd go look for it, of course."  Jesus: "Of course.  But, what about the other 99?"  Shepherd: "I'd have to leave them behind.  I can't lose the one sheep."  Jesus: "And if you find it?"  Shepherd: "I would probably do a little dance."  Jesus laughs: "And what would you say to your friends who are worried for you?"  Shepherd: "Rejoice with me!  I have found my lost sheep!"  Jesus: "He rejoices more for one sheep than over the 99 who never went astray.  So, it is not the will of my Father that one of these should perish.  In the same way, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over 99 righteous persons who need no repentance."  (Season 2, Episode 1)


Jesus is visiting the home of Melech, a man made lame by a fall from a horse.  His wife, Chedva, asks Jesus: "When I was a little girl, my father told me the Messiah would bring an end to pain and suffering.  If You are who people are saying You are, when will You do that?"  Jesus: "I'm here to preach the good news of the Kingdom of Heaven.  A kingdom not of this world, a kingdom that is coming soon.  Where, yes, sorrow and sighing will flee away.  I make a way for people to access that kingdom.  But, in this world, bones will still break.  Hearts will still break.  But, in the end, the Light will overcome darkness."  (Season 2, Episode 1)


Jesus has been asked to read from the Torah in the synagogue.  He asks John to choose a favorite passage.  John: "I love the beginning.  I love how God simply spoke and the world came into being."  Jesus: "Yes, as David wrote, 'by the Word of the Lord, the heavens were made.'"  John: "You know, the Greeks use 'word' to describe divine reason, what gives the world form and meaning."  Jesus picks up the first scroll and carries it into the meeting room.  He begins to read to the people gathered there.  While He reads, we see the future John, reading from his own book, interspersed with Jesus's reading.  Jesus: "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."  John: "In the beginning, was the Word."  Jesus: "And the earth was void and without form."  John: "And the Word was with God."  Jesus: "And darkness covered the face of the deep."  John: "And the Word was God."  Jesus: "Then God said, 'Let there be light.' And there was light."  John: "He was in the beginning, with God, all things were made through Him and without Him was not anything made that was made.  In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.  The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it."  (Season 2, Episode 1)


Philip, noticing the tension between Matthew and Simon, asks Matthew about it.  Matthew: "He doesn't like me.  He sees me as his enemy."  Philip, who is new to the group: "Why?"  Matthew, somewhat ashamed: "I was a tax collector.  I was everyone's enemy."  Philip seems to still not understand why Matthew's past would be a problem.  Matthew, surprised: "That doesn't shock you?"  Philip: "I was something else once, too.  Once you've met the Messiah, 'am' is all that matters."  Philip tells Matthew not to let Simon define him by his past sins.  (Season 2, Episode 2)


Philip asks Matthew if it was hard to leave his wealth to follow Jesus.  Matthew, with some surprise: "No.  It should have been.  I was comfortable."  He tells Philip that his former life wasn't really that satisfying.  He had no relationship with his parents, he felt guilt for the source of his money, and even his gifting was meaningless.  It wasn't hard to let go of that life, but his new life is uncomfortable because no one likes him due to his past.  Philip: "If this Rabbi, Jesus of Nazareth, called you, it means you already have everything you need for right now.  He'll give you the rest in time."  Matthew: "I just don't know what He sees in me.  He's a religious teacher, and I know very little about religion."  Philip: "From what I understand, Jesus doesn't love everything about religion.  Matthew, what you think you know doesn't matter.  Only that Jesus chose you.  That's where your confidence comes from now."  (Season 2, Episode 2)


Simon has come to Jesus, hoping to set up some kind of structure of authority within the group of disciples.  He argues that the larger numbers have brought in more opinions, and, at times, it is difficult to come to a consensus.  Jesus: "You have my instructions."  Simon: "But how we get there, how we achieve it, sometimes there's a lot of noise."  Jesus, already knowing the answer: "So, what are you suggesting?"  Simon tells Jesus they need a way to formalize the decision-making process.  He suggests that all ideas be filtered through by James and then brought to him (Simon) for consideration.  Jesus kindly tells Simon that, while He cherishes his leadership skills, they will be needed in the future, not now.  Jesus: "Every one of these people I have called for a reason.  Each of them brings something unique and important to the whole.  I want every voice heard, and none silenced.  Everyone can learn from each other."  Simon: "Yes, but some people are troubled by tiny things and they slow us down."  Jesus, patiently: "I won't ask who you mean by that.  But, I will say, if someone is thinking about things you feel slow everyone down, maybe you need to slow down.  One day, Simon, there will need to be more structure, and I see you playing a big part in it."  Simon: "Out of all humility, Rabbi, why not now?"  Jesus: "Because I am still here."  (Season 2, Episode 2)


Philip has brought his friend, Nathaniel, to meet Jesus.  Jesus greets them, calling Nathaniel a truth-teller.  Jesus: "You are a true Israelite, in whom there is no deceit."  Nathaniel looks in surprise at Philip: "What did you say about me?"  Philip denies saying anything.  Nathaniel looks at Jesus with suspicion: "What is this?  How do you know me?"  Jesus: "I have known you long before Philip called you to come and see."  Nathaniel looks back at Philip, questioningly.  Jesus: "Don't look at him.  Look at Me."  Jesus, stepping closer to look Nathaniel in the eye: "When you were in your lowest moment, and you were alone, I did not turn My face from you.  I saw you under the fig tree."  (See clip # CV11615, when Nathaniel cried out to God to see him.)  Nathaniel, tears in his eyes, whispers: "Rabbi.  You are the Son of God.  The King of Israel."  Jesus, putting a hand on Nathaniel's shoulder: "Because I said to you, 'I saw you under the fig tree,' you believe?  You are going to see many greater things than that.  Like Jacob, you are going to see heaven open and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man."  (Season 2, Episode 2)


Matthew has asked to learn the wisdom of Scripture from Philip.  While the multitudes wait to be healed by Jesus, Matthew asks Philip where he should start: "The law of Moses?  The prophecies of Isaiah?  The wisdom of Solomon?"  Philip: "For you, I think, psalms of David."  Matthew, poised to take notes: "I'm ready."  But, instead of the treasure troves of ancient knowledge he expects, Philip gives him only one verse: "If I ascend to heaven, You are there.  If I make my bed in the depths, You are there."  Matthew: "And?"  Philip: "Just that."  Matthew looks confused.  He tells Philip he was hoping for something that would help him understand more.  Philip tells him that verse is what Matthew must come to understand if he wants to make any meaningful study of Torah.  Matthew still doesn't understand.  Meanwhile, people all around them are being healed by Jesus.  Philip tells Matthew to recite the verse back to him and then explains it: "There's nowhere you can go.  There's no height you can climb to in your intellectual mind, no depths you can reach in your soul where God is not with you.  Do you get it?"  Matthew: "I think so."  Philip, continuing to explain why he chose that verse specifically for the academically-bent Matthew: "No amount of learning can bring you closer to God, or make you more or less precious to Him.  He's always right here, right now.  With you.  For you."  Matthew: "But...I don't feel it."  Philip: "The feeling doesn't always come first.  Sometimes you have to believe first."  (Season 2, Episode 3)


The disciples are discussing their former expectations of the Messiah as it relates to Jesus.  John: "Isn't the Messiah supposed to come at a time when all is holy?"  James, quoting: "And there shall be no unrighteousness in them on His day, for they shall all be holy and their King shall be the Lord Messiah." John jokes that in order to fulfill that prophecy they would need to clean up the Red Quarter first.  Mary: "I don't think He is waiting for us to be holy.  I think He is here because we can't be holy without Him."  (Season 2, Episode 3)


Young Jesse is climbing a tree when a disastrous fall paralyzes him from the waist down.  His anxious father carries the boy's unconscious body into their home, where a doctor delivers the bad news.  Jesse will never walk again.  He watches silently from his mat as his parents weep.  Later, Jesse is sitting on his mat outside, watching other children play.  His father sees the boy's sad face and his heart is in anguish for his son.  Out of desperation, Jesse's parents hire a witch doctor to come and administer "healing."  But no healing will come. (Season 2, Episode 4)


Jesse is now a young man.  He sits by the pool of Bethesda, surrounded by the disabled and the sick.  Suddenly, the waters of the pool bubble up and people all around rush to enter the water, believing it is a source of healing.  Jesse tries to get to the pool, but the others are just too fast.  They crowd in and shut him out.  Days and months go by, and every time the water is stirred, the same thing happens.  Jesse is trampled on, pushed, and struck in his efforts to get to the pool.  But he never reaches it.  Years pass and his beard is filled with gray.  His face is lined with decades of suffering.  Still, he hopes for healing but never gets it.  Finally, the waters are stirred and Jesse no longer moves towards it.  He has given up all hope.  He lies still on his mat, in despair, as the others around him get into the pool.  (Season 2, Episode 4)


The Jews are gathered outside Jerusalem to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.  Jesus and his disciples sit in one of the many temporary shelters, sharing a meal.  Matthew looks up at the branches forming the ceiling: "This thatched roof won't keep the rain out."  Little James and Mary tell Matthew that it was built that way on purpose.  Mary: "If a few raindrops get through, it is a reminder of our dependence on God, of His provision, and of how our people were so vulnerable in the wilderness.  And He brought us through."  Mary Magdalene: "There was a time in my life, in my old life, where I had to sleep outside.  It is a good reminder of how I was delivered from that."  Jesus: "This time of living in booths is also a leveler of people.  Wealthy, poor, everyone sleeps outside, as equals."

Big James asks Jesus why Zechariah prophesied that all the nations would eventually worship the Lord at Jerusalem.  James is rather disgusted that the enemies of Israel will celebrate along with the Jews: "Babylonians?  Assyrians?  The Romans?  Jews and Gentile at this table?  What would have to happen for that to be possible?"  Jesus, smiling: "Something would have to change."  James and Andrew think the Feast of the Tabernacles would be meaningless to people who haven't suffered the same time in the desert as the Israelites did.  Jesus: "Everyone has wandered through the wilderness at some point."  Matthew wonders how all the nations could possibly fit in Jerusalem.  Jesus: "I think it will not be Jerusalem as we know it now."  Ramah: "But, if Zechariah prophesied it, it will be fulfilled, right?"  Andrew: "It sounds impossible."  Mary: "I know a thing or two about prophecies that sound impossible."

John the Baptist is having a conversation with Jesus.  He confesses that He is impatient for Jesus to stop "telling stories" and to reveal Himself to the public.  Jesus: "I am going to tell stories that make sense to some people, but not to others.  And that's just how it's going to be."  John sighs, acquiescing.  He looks thoughtful: "It's becoming real, isn't it?  Everything we've prepared for.  It's heavy when it becomes real, no?"  Jesus agrees, knowing John is perhaps the only person on Earth who shares a fraction of His burden.  John: "Do You feel ready?"  Jesus: "I am always ready to do My Father's will.  But that doesn't make it easy."  John pledges his life to the service of His Lord: "I'm just impatient for You to get to work."  Jesus smiles at His cousin: "I understand.  And I'm grateful for your part."
(Season 2, Episode 5)

Simon the Zealot stands before Jesus: "You are Messiah, aren't You?"  Jesus: "Yes."  Simon kneels, pledging his allegiance: "I will do anything You ask."  Jesus: "I ask you to understand the nature of my mission, Simon."  Simon is prepared to do physical battle for Jesus, but that isn't what Jesus is wanting.  Jesus asks to see Simon's weapon.  Simon hands him his dagger.  Jesus looks at it, whistling: "Impressive."  He chucks it unceremoniously into the river, smiling at Simon.  Simon is shocked: "You have no use for that?"  Jesus: "I have a better sword.  You'll see.  We have much to discuss, just be patient."  Simon still doesn't understand that Jesus didn't pick him because of his skills of warfare.  Jesus: "I have everything that I need.  But...I wanted you."  Simon: "Why?"  Rather than answering, Jesus invites Simon to follow Him.

Ramah and Mary are foraging for food for their group.  Ramah is surprised Mary knows so much about edible plants.  Mary: "My family has been poor my whole life."  Ramah: "But your Son…"  Mary: "My Son is a homeless nomad who no longer brings in income for carpentry."  Ramah: "And you're smiling about it?"  Mary: "I'm smiling because He is doing what He was born to do.  And maybe sometimes that means we will be hungry for a few days."  Ramah wonders why Jesus doesn't just use his power to fix all of their problems (food, missing Mary M., etc.).  Mary: "It doesn't work that way.  Sometimes He is as much of a mystery to me as He is to you."  Mary tells Ramah the story of an Egyptian pagan god who could be compelled by the people to act the way they wanted him to.  Mary: "It's not like that with our God."  Ramah doesn't think that anything good could possibly happen from Mary M. being missing.  Mary: "Do you know that?"  Ramah: "She could be dead or dying in a ditch somewhere!"  Mary: "We do not know that she is in danger."  Ramah: "She is a woman alone!"  Mary: "Ramah.  Some trust in chariots and some in horses but we trust in the Name Adonai, our God."

Matthew and Peter find a disheveled Mary in an alley.  When they tell Mary that Jesus has sent them to bring her back, she refuses to come: "He already fixed me once.  I broke again.  I can't face Him."  Matthew: "I am a bad person, Mary.  My whole life, all for me.  Not faith."  Mary: "I do have faith in Him.  Just not in me."  Matthew reminds Mary of all the good she has been doing for others: "He saved you to do all these things."

Mary Magdalene has returned to Jesus after a time of reverting back to her sin (see clip # CV11649).  She stands before Him, hardly able to look at Him she is so ashamed: "You redeemed me and I just threw it all away."  Jesus: "That's not much of a redemption if it can be lost in a day, is it?"  Mary: "I owe You everything, but I just don't think I can do it."  Jesus: "Do what?"  Mary, crying: "Live up to it.  Repay You."  Jesus: "Well, that's true.  But you don't have to.  I just want your heart.  The Father just wants your heart.  Give us that, which you already have.  And the rest will come in time.  Did you really think that you'd never struggle or sin again?  Someday, but not here."  Mary: "I'm just so sorry."  She hangs her head.  Jesus:  "Look up."  Mary shakes her head: "I can't."  Jesus: "You can.  Look at Me."  Mary looks at Jesus.  Jesus: "I forgive you.  It's over."  Mary runs into His arms.

Ever since Jesus was detained by the Romans, His disciples have been worried and watching for Him.  So, when He returns to camp and says He's been there awhile, they are upset He didn't come to them immediately.  John: "So, what were You doing out here?"  Jesus: "Praying, John."  Jesus reminds them He told them He'd be back.  They will have to learn to trust Him and continue to do His work no matter what the circumstances are.  Jesus: "What are you going to do when I'm no longer here?"  The disciples are chagrined and express their willingness to do better and continue learning.  John asks Jesus to teach them a prayer.  Jesus: "This is what I like to see.  And prayer is the first step in getting the mind and the heart right.  It's why you see Me going to it so often."  Peter: "So, teach us to pray like You do.  Please."  Jesus: "When we pray, we want to be sure to first start with acknowledging our Father in heaven and His greatness.  So, you can say, 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name.'"  Jesus continues to teach them the Lord's prayer.

While Hadad gloats over cheating a man out of his land, his partner Judas is filled with a sense of guilt.  Judas: "Did you see his tears?"  Hadad rationalizes their actions, glossing over their deception with visions of wealth for all parties involved.  Hadad: "We're going to live like kings."  Judas: "Kings of what?  There's only one true King in heaven and everyone else, even Caesar, is enjoying illusions of power and wealth.  Sooner or later, we all become dust."  Hadad: "I know that's right, but we have so few opportunities to get ahead in this world!"  Judas: "Opportunity?  It was a calculated deception!  And it didn't feel good."  Hadad switches tactics, claiming it was God's hand that gave them this wealth.  Hadad: "We used what God gave us.  And now we'll have greater choices, we'll live better lives.  More devotion!"  But Judas knows in his heart that what they did was wrong: "Man was formed from earth and eventually he returns to it.  The time in between...there has to be more to life than that.  What I need is a life I can be proud of!  Don't you want to do something that will really matter?"

Matthew and Jesus look down on the camp, where the disciples are preparing to spread the word.  Matthew: "I hope they can find a way to work together."  Matthew tells Jesus the disciples are often in disagreement with each other.  Jesus nods knowingly, with a smile: "Oh, I've noticed."  Matthew looks surprised.  Jesus: "In some ways, it's to be expected."  Matthew: "But not desired, surely?"  Jesus: "No.  But it's bound to happen when you start something that's open to all, truly, all people.  Zealots, even tax collectors, people who have been through tough times.  People both hesitant and skeptical, as well as bold and confident.  People hungry to learn as well as those learned and knowledgeable."

Jesus asks Matthew for his thoughts on the Sermon on the Mount.  Matthew, after a bit of hesitation: "If I do the math in terms of good news and bad, it seems like there's not a lot of good news."  Jesus smiles.  Matthew looks at his notes: "'Anyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery.'  Doesn't that make everyone an adulterer?"  Jesus nods.  Matthew, continuing: "'If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out.'  Wouldn't that lead to an entire population of people walking around with only one eye?  And this one...'If anyone were to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well?'  Trees that bear bad fruit being cut down and thrown into the fire, the gate is narrow and hard that leads to life, depart from Me I never knew you.  Do you realize how heavy-laden Your sermon is with these kinds of ominous pronouncements?  I haven't even named half of them."  Jesus, fervently: "It's a manifesto, Matthew.  I'm not here to be sentimental and soothing.  I'm here to start a revolution.  I'm talking about a radical shift.  Did you think I was just going to come here and say, 'Hey everyone, just, uh, keep doing what you've been doing for the last thousand years.  It's been going so great.'"

Jesus and His disciples are in the midst of a angry crowd.  Knowing the disciples are fearful, Jesus sits them down to remind them about faith.  He asks them to recall what happened on the way to Jairus's house.  Thaddeus answers, saying that the bleeding woman was healed.  Jesus: "How?"  Andrew: "By touching the fringe of Your garment."  Jesus: "No.  My friends, you forget so quickly.  You are dear to me, but your memories are short."  Matthew looks at his notes, quoting Jesus's words: "Your faith has made you well."  Jesus: "Her faith.  Many of you are afraid right now, instead of choosing to have faith in Me."  Judas: "Rabbi, increase our faith!"  Jesus: "If you had faith the size of a grain of mustard seed, you could say to a mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you.  Truly, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to a mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it would move!  Nothing will be impossible to you."  Nathaniel: "How?  How do we get there?"  Philip, to Jesus: "You increase our faith."  Jesus, pinching His fingers to show a tiny gap: "It's not about size, Philip.  It's about who your faith is in.  If your faith is secure in God, trusting His promises, choosing His will for your life instead of your own, this sized faith is enough."

Ramah has just died.  Thomas is beside himself with grief.  He looks up and sees Jesus standing close by.  Thomas: "Heal her!  Fix this!  Please!"  Jesus simply looks at him with compassion: "Thomas, I’m so sorry."  Thomas: "Rabbi, you don't have to let this happen!  Just take it back!  Just take it back!"  Jesus shakes His head: "It is not her time."  He steps closer to Thomas: "I love you, Thomas.  He loves you.  I'm so sorry."  Thomas falls to the ground, weeping.

Jesus has just publicly confronted the Pharisees and they are seeking a way to get Him arrested.  Yanni , ensuring the Roman guards are listening, proposes a question designed for that purpose: "Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not?"  Jesus, fully aware of their intentions, answers wisely.  He asks for a coin, a Roman denarius.  He holds up the coin to the Pharisees: "Tell me, whose likeness and inscription is this?"  Yanni answers by reciting the inscription: "Caesar Augustus Tiberius, son of the divine."  The crowd murmurs in anger at the Roman blasphemy.  Jesus acknowledges their anger is just, but He also gives them a different perspective.  "Paying your taxes doesn't mean affirming his claim of divinity.  It means funding things, like well-maintained roads, and Rome's protection of this country from foreign invasion.  In the end, this is God's world.  The Romans just live in it.  The coin belongs to Caesar.  You belong to Him (God).  Therefore, render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's and to God the things that are God's."

After hearing the accusations of the priests, Pilate has had Jesus brought to a room to interview Him privately.  Pilate, bluntly: "Are You the King of the Jews?"  Jesus, one eye swollen shut from beatings: "Does this question come from you?  Or do you ask Me this because others have told you that is what I am?"  Pilate: "Why would I ask You that?  Am I a Jew?  Your high priests, Your own people, they delivered You up to me.  They want me to have You executed.  Why?  What have You done?  Are You a king?"  Jesus, calmly: "My kingdom is not of this world.  If it were, do you think My followers would have let them hand Me over?"  Pilate: "Then You are a king?"  Jesus: "That is why I was born.  To give testimony to the truth.  All men who hear the truth hear My voice."  Pilate, scornfully: "Truth!  What is truth?"  Jesus gazes directly into his eyes.  Moments later, Pilate returns to the courtyard and addresses the crowd: "I have questioned this prisoner, and I find no cause in Him."  The crowd jeers.  Pilate silences them, ordering them to try Jesus before Herod instead.  Jesus is led away.  Pilate looks at a window where his wife watches the proceedings.  Almost imperceptibly, she nods her approval.

On the night before His crucifixion, Jesus retreats to the Garden of Gethsemane with His disciples to pray. Having drawn Peter, James, and John aside, He suddenly doubles over, His body trembling under the weight of a deep burden. With ragged breath, He confesses, “I’m so sad. My soul is filled with sorrow, even to the point of death.” Alarmed and afraid, the three ask if they should fetch a doctor, but Jesus gently refuses, assuring them that the Great Physician will minister to Him. Though visibly burdened, He does not ask for rescue or relief—only that they remain close, keep watch, and stay awake with Him in this hour of anguish.

Jesus has just told the parable of the sheep and the goats and Rabbi Shmuel is struggling to digest it (see clip # CV11917).  Shmuel: "This is a hard teaching.  The Son of Man, the Messiah, is identified with the lowest of all people?  The hungry, the poor, the stranger?"  Shmuel looks somewhat disgusted.  Jesus: "That's what I've been preaching from My opening sentence on the mount."  Shmuel: "But what of all the Torah requirements and traditions upheld by our forefathers?"  Jesus tells Shmuel he has overlooked the words of the prophet Micah: "He has told you, oh man, what is good, and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God?"  Shmuel is still trying to justify himself by his works.  He wonders how love has anything to do with keeping God's commandments.  Jesus: "A new commandment I give you, that you love one another just as I have loved you.  By this, all people will know that you are My disciples."  Shmuel: "What of the Temple, the sacrifices, the law, the feasts?  Are not keeping these how nations will know we are God's people?"  Jesus tells Shmuel the former things are all fulfilled in Him.  Shmuel: "You would do away with them?:  Jesus: "I said fulfilled, not done away."
(Season 4, Episode 8)

Dr. Garrett takes Joyce outside the hospital room after having witnessed John's miraculous return from a coma.  Dr. Garrett, looking through the window into the room where the boy they all thought was dead is now talking to his family: "48 hours ago, John's lungs were filled with his own blood.  He needed constant adrenaline just to keep his heart pumping.  His white blood cells were being consumed faster than any patient I've ever seen.  His brain was experiencing neurological devastation while, simultaneously, every one of his major organs was failing.  Now look at him.  I'm a doctor, I'm supposed to know better.  But there's simply no other explanation, Joyce.  Your son's a miracle."  Dr. Garrett looks awed as he finishes telling the mother what he can hardly believe himself.
