Plot:This fascinating documentary presents the details of Eric's life, who was perhaps best known as an athlete in the 1924 Olympics, as depicted in the Academy Award-winning film, "Chariots of Fire." His story is told by author David McCasland and Eric's daughter Patricia, among others.
While training, Eric Liddell (one of the fastest runners in the world) is informed of the event schedule for the 1924 Olympics in Paris. The 100 meter race – at which he was considered the favorite for gold medal – had the preliminary heats slotted for Sunday. With mixed reaction, Eric informs the committee that he is sorry, but he cannot compete in an event which is held on the Christian Sabbath.
