Forest Whitaker expertly plays a bored and frustrated nine-to-fiver who feels stuck in his routine. After making a huge bet on a fixed horse race and losing it all (borrowing thousands from the house), the doomed businessman continues making bad choices when he decides to clumsily rob a bank – giving little forethought to its deadly consequences.
