Plot:Tired of being bullied at school and neglected at home, Jess Aarons and Leslie Burke escape into the woods, where Leslie opens Jess's mind to the amazing kingdom of Terabithia. It's a secret land where they reign supreme among the giants, ogres and other fantastical creatures they create!

After insisting on attending church with Jess for the first time (ignoring his warnings that she'll hate it and has to wear a dress), Leslie finds herself happily sitting next to her friend singing, The Old Rugged Cross. As the two are riding home with his younger sister, May Belle, they begin to discuss the whole Jesus thing. May Belle thinks it's scary (crucifixion), and informs the older girl that she has to believe the Bible or she'll be damned to hell when she dies! Leslie disagrees and doesn't think God goes around damning anyone to hell.
